11 Days/ 10 Nights Bwindi, Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls and Ssese Island Uganda Safari starts by visiting Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The drive to the park provides a thrilling experience as you go through undulating hills and small-scale farmlands and a great memorable experience when you spend time in the jungle viewing varieties of primates and birds but most importantly tracking the giant mountain gorillas.

Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National is a home of the famous tree climbing lions as well as the Uganda kobs, various antelope’s species, topis, hyenas, crocodiles, waterbucks, elephants, baboons, hippos, buffaloes, and 10 primate species including chimpanzees and many more.

 

Over 500 species of birds have been recorded, making the park a magnet for bird watchers. The bird species include the black bee-eater, 11 types of king fisher, and several species of falcons, eagles and the raptors and many more.

 

In the crater lakes to the north, flocks of flamingoes can be found. A favorite way to view the game is by a launch trip on the Kazinga Channel between Lakes George and Edward

 

Continue to Murchison Falls National Park derives its name from the Murchison Falls where the mighty river Nile explodes through a narrow gorge and flows down to become a placid river whose banks are thronged with Hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks and buffaloes.

 

The Vegetation is characterized by savannah, Riverine forest and woodland. Wildlife includes; lions, leopards, chimpanzee giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeests, oribis, Uganda Kob, Chimpanzees and many bird species including the rare shoebill stock. The safari will then end in Kampala city with a city tour.

Day 1: Kampala – Drive to Bwindi Gorilla National Park (Cultural Entertainment)
Have an early breakfast and the guide/ driver will pick you up from Mbarara town and you will then drive to Bwindi Gorilla National Park. The drive will be memorable because of the rolling hills, terraced landscape of the region, and beautiful panoramas.

 

The drive to the park will be short. Proceed for a cultural walk to interact with the local people. Participate in captivating traditional performances presented by Women’s groups or orphan children groups. Note that the fees you pay for these performances go directly to improve the welfare of families around the park. The travel time from Kampala to Bwindi Gorilla National Park is about 8 Hours.

Day 2: Bwindi Gorilla National Park (Gorilla Tracking)
After an early morning breakfast and guide briefing, set off for gorilla tracking in the forests of Bwindi. Gorilla tracking can be arduous because of Bwindi’s challenging terrain. Packed lunch will be carried with drinking water, and wear comfortable boots or sturdy shoes, as well as carry a light rain jacket as Bwindi has unpredictable weather.

 

Walking sticks will be obtainable from the park rangers. Stumbling upon the gentle giants will be the most exciting experience! For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour. After an encounter with the group of gorillas some with silver backs, one can say “my ultimate Gorillas experience”. Day 3: Bwindi Gorilla National Park – Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have an early morning breakfast and proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain range for much of the journey.

 

Have a game drive en route that will reward you with views of Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Buffaloes, Hyenas and a variety of Antelope species. After lunch, continue to the crater region crater lakes for sightseeing and also visit Katwe Salt works for a hint into traditional salt mining. The travel time from Bwindi to Queen Elizabeth National Park is about 6 hours.

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park (Game Drives, Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel)

An early morning game drive in this park provides excellent opportunities to see Lions, Leopards, Giant Forest Hogs, Cape Buffaloes, Elephants, Defassa Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, Topis, Bush bucks and many more.

 

After lunch, enjoy an exclusive 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest absorption of Hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the water’s edge.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park Game Drive Transfer to Hoima

After an early breakfast, have another game drive in the park were you will be able to view the different wildlife; Uganda kobs, various antelope’s species, topis, hyenas, crocodiles, waterbucks, elephants, baboons, hippos, buffaloes and many more.

 

If luck is no you might be able to see the climbing Lion, proceed to Hoima where you will have lunch and an overnight at a comfortable hotel.

Travel Time: About 8 Hours.

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Drive to Murchison Falls National Park

Have an early breakfast drive to the park through Budongo forest on the western arm of the Great Rift Valley and enjoy the magnificent falls where the Nile perfects its gorgeous falls concocts a deafening roar and rainbow in a spiral of the spray across the great River Nile.

You will have a lunch en route and in the afternoon you will hike to the top of mighty Murchison Fall whose banks provide an opportunity to see the amazing hippos, crocodiles, water birds along the river banks enabling an excellent birding safari. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Murchison Falls National Park (Game Drives)

Have an early breakfast and proceed to the northern part of the park for a game drive. View Elephants, Buffaloes, Bushbucks, Lions, and a variety of bird species.

 

After lunch, go for a two-hour launch cruise up to the base of the mighty Murchison Falls where sinister water escapes from the narrow gorge, providing an opportunity to see the amazing hippos, crocodiles, water birds along the river banks. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Murchison Falls – Drive to Ziwa Rhinos Sanctuary

Have breakfast very early in the morning and embark on the journey back to Kampala. Have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary which provides a brief tour of this Rhino restoration project.

 

Following the extinction of Uganda’s Rhino in the early 1980's during the period of civil unrest and heavy poaching, a sanctuary has now been established to breed black and white rhino, and restore rhino populations in Uganda’s protected areas in a later stage. Have lunch and en route back to Kampala. Travel Time: About 9 hours

Have breakfast and drive to Bukakata from Kampala in the morning such that you’re in time to catch the morning ferry to Ssese Island. It’s the most beautiful island in Uganda found in Lake Victoria.

 

It does not only provide beautiful scenery but it’s also a peaceful and quite place good for relaxation. You will be able to enjoy a relaxation walk around the beach and the boat ride.

If your flight is in the morning you will have an early breakfast and catch the morning ferry. The driver will take you straight to the airport. Travel time: About 3 Hours
