Mombasa – Tsavo West – Amboseli – Aberdare – Samburu – Sweetwaters – Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara – Nairobi 12 Days/11 Nights Kenya Safari

Our 12 Days Kenya Safari is a delightful journey for travelers with limited time away from home yet who desire an in-depth safari experience. Devoted exclusively to Kenya, in less than two weeks we touch upon nearly all of the region’s highlights, while enjoying exceptional wildlife throughout. Short travel distances between locations enable us make the most of our time in each reserve. We start from Mombasa at the coast. Our adventures in the bush begin with spectacular Tsavo West National Park. Tsavo is big game country and, if we’re lucky, to a view of Kilimanjaro often unclouded in the early morning sky. In addition to elephant, antelope, zebra, Giraffe, buffalo and the rare black rhino Tsavo West is sought after by travelers in the know for its breathtaking scenery.

Awaiting us at our next stop is Amboseli National Park. Romantically situated in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli is famous for its tremendous variety of big game. Our game drives are sure to reveal great wonders. This is Elephant country. From Amboseli National Park we proceed to the The Ark/Mountain Lodge. Nestled in the foothills between Aberdare and Mount Kenya National Park, the lodge is famous for its high perches and balconies, overlooking a salt lick and waterhole. Here we will enjoy the finest in high-altitude game viewing. Next we travel to Kenya’s northern frontier. Wild and rugged, Samburu is fiercely beautiful with its arid savannahs watered by the lovely Uaso Nyiro River. It is also one of Kenya’s most protected areas and home to species only found north of the equator, from the reticulated giraffe to Grevy’s zebras and beisa oryxes.

Our next stop is a sheltered oasis, clustered around a waterhole and set in the pristine calm of its own private reserve: Sweetwaters Tented Camp. Abounding with wildlife, unfettered by the more rigorous strictures of national parks, Sweetwaters offers a charming blend of under-canvas ambience and uncompromising luxury where we’ll enjoy a night. Lake Nakuru offers us great game viewing plus lots of bird watching.

The best is yet to come still, on safari in the Masai Mara. An un spoilt wilderness of haunting beauty, it promises a profusion of wildlife, prolific bird life and the unprecedented opportunity of catching up with all the members of the “Big Five” in one morning. When it comes to game viewing, there is nowhere richer in wildlife or more eventful in encounters. Part of the vast Serengeti plains, this is the legendary Africa of our dreams where spectacular events take place.

Day 1
Nairobi Tsavo West National Park

After breakfast, depart by road, to the legendary land of the 'Man-Eaters' Tsavo National Park. The 21,000 sq km park is one of the largest in the whole world.  Due to its enormous size, the park was divided into two parts Tsavo East and Tsavo West, for easy administration and management. This wilderness is home to over 1000 plant species, 400 bird species and more than 60 major mammal species such as lions, huge herds of buffalo, the solitary and ill-tempered Rhino and at least 7000 elephants.

The park is the location of Africa's most famous adventure story
Man eaters of Tsavo, in which two lions where responsible for eating over 500 workers who where building the Uganda railway also known as the Lunatic Line by its opponents in the British Parliament in 1898.  The story was made famous in the 1996 movie The Ghost and the Darkness.   Enjoy your lunch at your lodge.
