Days/ 4 Nights Safari Detailed Itinerary
Day
1: Nairobi – Samburu Game Reserve
After
breakfast, drive north via Nanyuki and past Mount Kenya
to the Samburu National Reserve. Rugged and remote,
this wildlife reserve provides some the best and most
colorful game viewing in the country.
North of the equator some of the animals and vegetation
are a little different from those commonly found south
such as the Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, and
Somali ostrich, the long neck gerenuk, and beisa and
hunting dog.
Enjoy
an afternoon game drive. Your evening is leisure.

day game drives explore the riverine forest areas and
rugged plains. Samburu National Reserve is one of the
lesser-known national parks, but is nevertheless teeming
with life. Situated alongside the Ewaso Nyiro River,
there is plenty to attract wildlife from the surrounding
savannah plains.
Samburu
Game Reserve is rich in wildlife with an abundance of
rare northern specialist species such as the Grevy’s
zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk
and the beisa oryx (also referred to as Samburu Special
Five).
Wild
dog sightings are also a common attraction to thisunique
protected area. Birdlife is abundant with over 450 species
recorded. Birds of the arid northern bush country are
augmented by a number of riverine forest species.

3: Samburu – Drive to Aberdare National Park
or Mount Kenya National Park
Today
we travel to the Ark tree-lodge is uniquely shaped to
resemble Noah’s Ark, designed with decks from
which numerous balconies and lounges provide superb
vantage points for viewing the animals visiting the
salt-lick and waterhole.
A ground level bunker provides excellent photographic
opportunities and takes you closer than you would believe
possible to the elephants. They love the natural salt
lick and get onto their knees to dig into the ground
with their tusks.
For
hours, they eat the salty earth full of minerals. Finally
they quench their thirst at the waterhole. It’s
almost a face to face experience with the Big Greys!
By
night, the Yasabara waterhole is floodlit so that you
can observe the comings and goings of rhino, elephant,
bushbuck and occasionally also the elusive Bongo.
Numerous
other animals also visit this busy meeting place all
day and night so there is always something to see. The
"Resident Hunter" is always on hand to explain
on the wildlife and landscape.
