African Spice Safaris is based in Kenya and is celebrating its 20th Year of Safari outfitting and is steadily growing due to a satisfied client base. We are proud to say that as local Kenyan citizens, we are one of only a few professional and successful tour companies owned and operated by local indigenous Kenyans here in East Africa—a source of great pride and distinction.
African Spice Safaris is unique in that we specialize exclusively in Africa with no desire to expand and run tours around the globe. Instead, we focus all of our love and attention on our guests’ experiences in our homeland.
As any traveler knows, Value is about much more than the Price You Pay. It’s also about the quality of your experience, and we’re most proud of the hard work of our staff in Nairobi, East Africa.
They tirelessly ensure you’ll enjoy an unforgettable experience, whether during our Private Custom Safari or on any of our Planned Voyages. Our mission is, quite simply, to offer the most meaningful, both Budget & Luxurious personalized Safaris available in Africa today.
African Spice Safaris Limited was founded in 2003 by a Safari professional Guide, Mr. Patrick Masila & Kathleen Forsythe (who spent over a decade working and traveling in remote destinations in Africa, including South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo).
They set up a professional company with the intention to improve the quality of tour operations in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. Today we have a safari team that is permanently based in East Africa and have extensive first-hand experience with the destinations they recommend.
When it comes to going on vacation in a destination like East Africa, having a local travel company’s trusted network of suppliers and 24/7 backup offers absolute peace of mind – which is a big part of relaxing on holiday.
Even if nothing goes wrong and all the logistics run as smoothly as silk, you’d want to know that you have professional support 24/7 on the ground – not at a call centre in another time zone!
The vision of African Spice Safaris is to develop an indigenous owned tour company with international partnerships and networks that will operate in the entire East Africa Region, which includes Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya and Tanzania.
African Spice Safaris seeks to provide a first-rate flexible service to its customers and promote the image of East Africa as an unequaled tourism destination in the world. The long-term plans include the development of a hotel and lodges chain across East Africa.
Care, professionalism, integrity and dedication are some of the core values that underpin the business approach of African Spice Safaris. The company has established itself as a strong and reliable company that guarantees quality, consistency, and competitive prices.
Other core values of the company are excellent customer service, innovation, flexibility, accessibility, and eco-tourism. It is for this reason, that many satisfied customers have named us “the best tour and Travel Company in Kenya.”
African Spice Safaris team is made up of 12 capable and competent office staff and high qualified driver /guides and tour leaders, who all possess the requisite academic qualifications and years of valuable experience.
Among us we speak a range of European and African languages, including English, Dutch, Swahili, Kikuyu, Kamba, Masai and many other local dialects found all across East Africa, empowering us to manage and handle all of our guest’s tour requirements right from conception to operation to closing, for optimal satisfaction.
DRIVER/ GUIDES & TRIP LEADERS
Aware of the critical role a guide plays in our guests’ holiday experience, we hire only the best. Many of our full-time guides used to be national park rangers with Kenya Wildlife Services and therefore have extensive local knowledge of the flora and fauna, history, culture, geography. Some avid ornithologists complete our team.
They also attend regular courses with the accrediting local KPSGA (Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association), are members of the Kenya Bird Guides Club and Conservation Societies. In addition, we provide German, Spanish, and Japanese speaking Tour Leader/ Guides, as well as accompanying translators in any of the other major international languages upon request.
The Company has a fleet of Toyota Safari Land Cruisers and Mini-Tour buses. All vehicles are 4WD, are well maintained, and provide a pop-up roof for game viewing. For clients’ convenience, we try to limit the number of people in one vehicle to 6 persons. This means that every guest can enjoy having a window seat and luggage can be stored comfortably.
