Amazing Kenya Retreat Luxury Lodge Maanzoni offers full board luxury accommodation in an eco-friendly Kenyan setting. A real bush experience in African Savannah grassland with wonderful wildlife, only 40 minutes away from Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Nairobi National Park.

Sitting on your verandah, you can enjoy the spectacular view offered by the Savanna plains and when the sky is clear you can see Mount Kenya, 150 kilometers to the North. The big variety and large number of animals in Maanzoni range from Giraffe, Zebra's, Elands and Antelopes to many different East African Bird species.

Only 35 minutes after leaving the airport. Residents and domestic tourist can enjoy a long weekend or midweek in a beautiful setting without having to travel far.

Amazing Kenya Retreat is the perfect location for Conferences (room with a capacity of 20 guests), business meetings and team building activities. Team building and management training events can also be arranged at the retreat.

Traditional Rondavels Rooms

The 5 guesthouses are traditional African style Rondavels. Carefully situated, creating a lot of privacy, each Rondavel offers a double bedroom and a fully equipped bathroom. The large windows and double glass doors create a spectacular view from the bedrooms, overlooking the slopes of Maanzoni.

On the horizon you will see Mount Lukenya in the west, Mount Kenya in the north and to the east you can see the hills where the local Akamba people live. The private veranda with safari chairs allows you to enjoy your stay at Amazing Kenya Retreat even more.

The Rondavels have been constructed in such a way that it looks like they are emerging from the ground. This effect has been created by tilting the roof to the back, in combination with the slope of the land they have been build on.

How to get to Amazing Kenya Retreat

Take the highway, Mombassa Road, from Nairobi towards Mombassa. About 30 kilometers past Jomo Kenyatta Airport and two kilometers past the Maanzoni Lodge sign you will find the entrance to Maanzoni on your left.

Enter the gate and after another 10 minutes driving through Maanzoni, probably spotting zebra, wildebeast, gazelles and if you are lucky some giraffe, you will arrive at Amazing Kenya Retreat.

Dining, Relaxing and Conferences

The Main Building has the shape of the typical African Acacia tree. The Acacia tree with its horizontal flat tree top is the symbol of protection against the elements. The almost flat roof of the Main Building offers the same and its shape creates an area of 320 square meters which is used to catch rain water.

With an average rainfall of 600 mm per year the total volume of rain water which can be collected by this single roof is a stunning 192000 liters. All this water is collected in a 110000 liter water tank located underneath the Veranda which is one of the unique design features of the building.

There is a sunken relax area with fireplace and a lounge area where you can play games, read a good book, watch TV or use your laptop via WiFi. In the evenings you can enjoy the fireplace on the verandah while listening to the typical African bush sounds.

Dining

The building houses a large modern Kitchen with all the necessary equipment to prepare exquisite food for fine dining. After the early morning coffee or tea has been served to your room, we offer a choice between Continental or American style breakfast.

Our 4 course lunch and diner will be served to you “American Style” (Plate Service) and you can choose between vegetarian, fish or meat. On request our special BBQ area will be used to prepare the finest Nyama Choma (Swahili for bbq). The food will be served in the nicely decorated dining room or on the Verandah. Both areas offer spectacular views over the savannah plains.

Game Walks and Nature Walks

Game walks and Nature walks can be enjoyed throughout the 6000 acres of the Maanzoni Savannah grassland estate. We will track and try to come close to the plain game as giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, Elands, Grant’s gazelles, Thompson’s gazelles, monkey's and Kirks dikdik.

It will give you the real bush experience and offer opportunity's to take beautiful pictures of animals and indigenous plants and trees.

Nature Walk

A nature walk will learn about grasses, plants, shrubs and trees and their importance to herbivores and the indigenous people of the Lukenya area. Our guide teaches you about the different species and how the Akamba have used them for cultural and medical purposes for centuries.

Bird Watching

Bird watching is an interesting element of every game and nature walk. You will be able to spot many of the 550 bird species, endemics to East Africa. Watching birds’ behavior is really an adventure on its own.

Game Drive

Even though you can walk and cycle through Maanzoni and experience the game walk of a lifetime, for those of you who want to go by car we can organize the perfect game drive.

Bush Breakfast

For early risers we can organize a game walk starting at dawn. At this time of the day the chances of spotting the wild animals are much higher then during the day. Once you reach your destination after a walk of about 5 kilometers a delicious breakfast will be served in the bush. Our driver will return you to Amazing Kenya Retreat around 11AM.

Horse Riding

Since the "Big Five" (Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard, Rhino and the Lion) do not live in Maanzoni it is the perfect place to enjoy a horse riding.

Team Building

Maanzoni is the perfect area for many different types of team building activities and management training close to Nairobi. The savannah landscape, the hills, water catchment areas and vast planes provide the ultimate environment.

Just imagine yourselves, sitting in a comfortable chair on top of a rock overlooking the African Savannah while the Sun is going down behind Mount Lukenya.
