Karatu Simba Lodge Ngorongoro Tanzania is a quiet lodge nestled alongside Ngorongoro Forest, about a 30-minute drive from the gate of Lake Manyara National Park, approximately 4 km off the main road to the entry of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The lodge is situated deep in the farming area of the Karatu district.

Accommodation at Karatu Simba Lodge is in individual twin, double or triple cottages or rondavels with canvas walls and a solid attached bathroom and shower, tastefully and simply decorated with handmade furniture of African hardwood.

All rooms have a view of the forest, fields, and far-distant hills. Rooms at Karatu Simba are beautifully and simply decorated with local fabrics and hardwood furniture; the beds all have mosquito nets. Full amenities are provided and rooms are solar-powered with solar-heated water; there is a power strip for battery charging.

The lodge has an outdoor pool, on-site restaurant, bar, safe, campfire area, dining area, and Free Wireless Internet in Common Areas. The lodge serves continental cuisine with an occasional sample of local dishes.

Karatu Simba Lodge was designed to provide a quiet, restful place to unwind between your active safari days. You’ll be welcomed to reception with a refreshing towel and drink on arrival. Tea is served every afternoon and the bar is always open! Relax in the lounge or around the pool and don’t miss the evening campfire or watching the sunset behind the Ngorongoro Forest.

There is a small market at the junction of the main road in Rhotia village that takes place every Sunday, offering a great opportunity for visitors to experience a little taste of local life.  Also, the town of Karatu is nearby with markets and other places of interest to discover.
