Days/ 13 Nights
Kenya & Tanzania Hemingway Flying Safari
is an ingeniously crafted programme offering both
Kenya and Tanzania in exactly two weeks away from
home.
For travelers with a limited timeframe, yet who desire
to see both countries, it is the ideal safari. The
focus is on wildlife and the big herds, visiting four
of East Africa’s most renowned game viewing
areas: the Maasai Mara, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti,
and Lewa Downs.
Several
flights make the programme as comfortable as it is
comprehensive. Spend your days viewing game in 4x4
vehicles or on horseback. See the "Big Five"
safari animals, as well as giraffe, wildebeest and
others.
Each evening, gather around the campfire for cocktails
and dinner, then retire to your exclusive accommodations
and enjoy attentive service from your personal butler.

– Fly to Laikipia Plateau
Fly
to the exclusive Laikipia Plateau and your private game
conservancy at the foot of Mount Kenya. Located in the
Northern Frontier District, Laikipia Plateau is home
to a diverse array of wildlife in some of Kenya's most
spectacular scenery.
The
snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya dominate the view to
the south. To the north, the terrain drops away rapidly
with breathtaking views of the Samburu Game Reserve.
After
your first safari game drive, you return to camp where
this evening, you enjoy a special welcome dinner and
safari briefing hosted by African Spice Safaris.

for elephant, rhino, leopard and lion on a full day
of game viewing on foot or by vehicle in the Laikipia
wildlife conservancy. Glimpse unique northern species
such as reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, beisa oryx,
Somali ostrich and the graceful, long-necked gerenuk.
For
a completely unique perspective, enjoy game-viewing
by horseback or search for nocturnal species on a night
game drive.
All
the big cats can also be found here, including leopard
and lion. Gourmet meals, picnics and sundowners are
served by your attentive staff in between game drives
with your guide, who shares his knowledge of the bush
and its myriad inhabitants.

Day 5 Laikipia
– Fly Nairobi – Fly Arusha – Drive
to Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania
Today
you fly to Arusha via Nairobi. After stopping for lunch,
board another flight to the Lake Manyara airstrip, where
you continue overland to the Ngorongoro Crater Serena
Lodge.
Ngorongoro
Crater is the largest unbroken caldera in the world
and its floor is home to a year-round population of
wildlife. Dozens of animal species make their home here
- with the notable exception of cheetah, chased out
by the Crater's aggressive hyena population.
After settling in to your lodge, you spend the evening
around the campfire; enjoy entertainment from the lodge
stuff and listening to the sounds of the wildlife all
around you.
Overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge
Meal
Plan {Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner}
Day 6 Ngorongoro
Crater
This
morning we descend 2,000 feet into the giant caldera
of this extinct volcano. This magnificent natural amphitheater
contains the largest concentration of animals in all
of Africa. Prides of lion, black rhino and elephant
share this land with the legendary Masai tribesmen.
Because
the grasses are short, game is easily spotted and can
be approached quite closely. We spend a splendid morning
on the floor of the crater observing wildlife in this
ageless World Heritage Site.
To
avoid the hustle and bustle of the assigned picnic sites
in Ngorongoro Crater, African Spice Safaris will host
an Out of Africa gourmet barbecue lunch in a private
site, set in yellow acacia woodland offering natural
shade. Tonight, enjoy a private performance by Maasai
dancers at your lodge.
Overnight
at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge
Meal
Plan {Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner}
Day
7 Ngorongoro Crater –
Serengeti National Park
The
Serengeti National Park is our destination today. En
route we stop at Olduvai Gorge, the “cradle of
mankind,” where the Leakey family uncovered the
fossil of Homo habilis, who lived 1.75 million years
ago. Arriving at our lodge in time for lunch, we find
ourselves deep in the heart of this famous migration
corridor.
With
its wide-open spaces, bright blue skies and creature-filled
landscape, over the next two days we will discover why
the fabled Serengeti typifies the dream of “Old
Africa.”
Large
prides of lions laze in the long grasses, plentiful
families of elephants feed on acacia bark and trumpet
to each other across the plains, while giraffes, gazelles,
monkeys, eland and the whole range of African wildlife
present themselves in awe-inspiring numbers.
Overnight
at Serengeti Serena Lodge
Meal
Plan {Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner}
Days
8 & 9 Serengeti
National Park
Two
Serengeti game viewing days. After breakfast this morning,
enjoy a game drive. The great diversity of Serengeti
wildlife is also evident here—look for buffalo,
hippopotamus, elephant, giraffe, antelope, Thompson’s
and Grant’s gazelle, lions, and in season the
spectacular migration of the wildebeest.
In
late afternoon we venture out in another game drive.
Everywhere there are animals, monkeys and, yes, birds…but
look closely and you will thrill to the huge jungle
cats—lion, leopard and cheetah—just watching
the world go by.
And
go by it does. Rhino, gazelle, antelope and massive
elephants by the hundreds. Animals in the trees, on
the wing, camouflaged in the bush, in rivers and in
streams. The adventure of a lifetime.

at Serengeti Serena Lodge or similar

Fly Masai Mara
We
wing our way across the Great Plains to the Maasai Mara
via Arusha and Nairobi. A game reserve shared with the
Masai people, the Mara most certainly offers the finest
game viewing in Kenya as well as the ideal location
for an exhilarating Hot-Air Balloon Safari.
During
our time in the Mara, we also visit a Maasai village
in the company of an insightful tribal Elder. And, romance
awaits in the form of an extraordinary sunset cocktail
party in the bush overlooking the Great Rift Valley.
Our
accommodations will also thrill in an exclusive tented
camp: Mara Safari Club or Kichwa Tembo Camp

Days
11 & 12
Masai
Mara
Spend
two exciting days driving across the limitless plains
in search of abundant game in one of Kenya's most spectacular
areas. Running along the Tanzanian border, the Mara
forms an essential part of the Serengeti ecosystem.
The
annual migration draws more than one million wildebeest,
accompanied by zebra and gazelle, to graze the Mara's
lush grasses. In the Mara River, crocodile bask in the
sun and hippo wallow in the muddy water as monkey frolic
overhead. It seems as though the wildlife here is without
limits.
The
lion population in particular is very large. Elephant
roam the forest edge, giraffe survey the plains and
you drive through it all in vehicles that can take you
up close in comfort and safety.
The spectacular Siria Escarpment is your backdrop
for viewing lion, elephant, giraffe, zebra and a variety
of gazelle species. On your final evening, join your
fellow travelers for a special farewell dinner, the
perfect opportunity to toast your journey and share
your new memories.
