Olarro lodge is 6000 feet above sea level, nestled in the Enkijape hills around 200 Kilometers from Nairobi. It is situated on a 40,000 acre private Conservancy surrounded by 150,000 acres of Maji Moto Group Ranch, owned by the local Masai people.

Olarro Lodge can be accessed by a short private charter or helicopter flight - 30 minutes from Nairobi and 20 minutes from the Masai Mara Game Reserve. By road: A visually stunning drive from Nairobi along the Great Rift Valley escarpment and then down across the valley floor and up to the Loita foothills (3 hours). Olarro Lodge is situated in western Kenya near the Masai Mara National Reserve on a 10,000 acre private Conservancy on the 150,000 acre Maji Moto Group Ranch, owned by the local Masai people.

Olarro Lodge Masai Mara Game Reserve

Main Olarro has seven en-suite cottages (3 twin rooms and 4 double rooms), each with its own patio and six of the cottages are co-joined through a common external sitting area, ideal for groups of friends, or families.

The main cottage interiors are cool white, accented by earth tone accessories and modern decor. All cottages have luxurious en-suite bathrooms with rainfall showers and Thera Vine amenities.

The Northern Lounge is used by guests accommodated in the seven Main Olarro cottages. There is also a sundeck, lounge area and bar, indoor fireplace as well as an open air fireplace under the African stars and a magnificent swimming pool. Meals are served either in the Northern Lounge or at a poolside table under the
African stars.

Little Olarro is our private suite situated a short distance from the main lodge. It has a master bedroom with en suite bath and shower, a smaller twin room with en suite shower, an inter leading lounge, dining area and veranda as well as its own entrance.

Little Olarro also has a private upper deck for their exclusive use. A two storey structure houses a fully equipped mini spa, private service kitchen, spacious lounge, dining area and sundeck, all with spectacular views of the Loita plains.

One advantage of being on a private group ranch is the wide range of activities on offer from Sundowners, bush breakfasts and bush dinners, daily game drives, mountain biking, bush walks to specialized bird watching with our licensed guides, and trekking activities on our conservancy.

Night drives with night-vision binoculars - this minimizes the disturbance to the natural behavior of wildlife and allows guests a clear view of nocturnal animals.

Specially prepared picnics can be provided for breakfast or lunch, and full day trips into the Masai Mara can be arranged as well as scenic helicopter flights into the Masai Mara, and have the rare opportunity to float over the million strong wildebeest and zebra migration in a hot air balloon, followed by a champagne breakfast in a remote area (at an additional cost).

Approximately one hour from the Masai Mara Game Reserve, Olarro is easily accessible from Nairobi by road or by air. By road, the transfer is a visually stunning drive along the Great Rift Valley escarpment and then down across the valley floor and up into the Loita foothills. This road transfer is approximately 3 hours from Nairobi.

By air, Olarro is a 45 minute scheduled or charter flight from Nairobi into Siana airstrip, with a 1½ hour road transfer into Olarro. (35 minute helicopter flights directly to Olarro’s helipads are available on request.)

There are scheduled daily flights on Air Kenya and Safarilink from Wilson Airport to the Mara strips, and to get to Olarro, you fly into SIANA airstrip. The duration of the light aircraft flight is 45 minutes from Wilson to Siana, followed by a 1 ½ hour road transfer to Olarro in our 6 seater 4x4 vehicles. There is refreshment on the vehicle en-route from Siana airstrip to Olarro Lodge.

Please be aware that guests departing Olarro Lodge in the afternoon will be charged for lunch on the day of departure. Check out time is 10h00. A unique, artistically styled retreat built into the hillside overlooking the vast Loita plains, Olarro runs on eco-friendly principles not only in design but in its resources. We are proud of our community projects which we are always delighted to share with our guests. Olarro also welcomes children of all ages and boasts the Olarro Junior Adventurers Club which offers children a full bush adventure programme, special menu’s and child minding services.

Children are welcome but parental supervision is required. On request, we can provide early dinners and child minder services for our young guests. We ask that parents show consideration to other guests where children are concerned.

Olarro Lodge and Little Olarro Lodge Activities

One advantage of being on a private Conservancy is the wide range of activities offered. These include mountain biking with a private guide, bush walks, daily game drives and specialized bird watching with our licensed guides.

Specially prepared picnics can be provided for breakfast or lunch and drinks and gourmet appetizers for sundowners. Unique to Olarro are night drives using infra red night vision binoculars to spot nocturnal game in their natural habitat with minimum disturbance to their behavior.

An optional experience and one of the highlights at Olarro that requires pre bookings is a scenic helicopter flight into the Masai Mara, taking off from Olarro Lodge's private helicopter pad at dawn.

After an exhilarating flight into the Masai Mara, guests have the rare opportunity to float over the million strong wildebeest and zebra migration in a hot air balloon, followed by a sumptuous champagne breakfast in a remote part of the Masai Mara. To fully appreciate the Olarro experience, stays should be a minimum of 3 to 4 nights.
