Spekes Camp Masai Mara

Speke’s Camp Masai Mara is a luxury traditional camp situated on private land on the eastern edge of the Maasai Mara Reserve, approximately 1km from the reserve. The camp is set on the eastern bank of the Olaro Orok River and is bordered by Mara North Conservancy and Olare Orok Conservancy, 

Speke’s Camp is close to a prime game viewing location; Musiara Swamp, Rhino Ridge & Paradise Plains is surrounded by fabulous indigenous trees overhanging the Olare Orok River. 

The Camp can be reached either by road or by air. The distance from Nairobi to Masai Mara is approximately 250 km. It takes around 5-6 hours by road while flying time takes about 45 minutes.  The preferred airstrip is Musiara Airstrip, approximately 25 minutes from camp. ​

​Speke’s Camp is one of the more affordable camps within the Maasai Mara, making it the perfect addition to any safari circuit. With only seven comfortable safari tents, the camp is intimate and personable. All tents are very spacious, with a closet, luggage rack, desk, and a beautiful seating area.

There are two larger tents, perfect for family groups. All tents are en-suite, with very large bathrooms with traditional safari bucket showers, hot water, and flushing toilets. The mess area comprises a large communal dining table and lounge area with a relaxed place for guests to read and play games.

The camp has a large, comfortable mess tent. where guests relax and get to learn about Kenyan history, safaris, and the animal kingdom as there are many books to keep you occupied. 
The ‘chill-out lounge’ tent overlooks the river and is perfect to enjoy the serenity and peace of this enchanting spot.

All meals are served in the shade of ancient trees overlooking the wonderful Mara wilderness or under the starry sky! We cater to all food types and we promise you’ll be asking for ‘seconds’ with every meal! We also have a great little bar in the mess tent, where you can grab a cool drink at the end of the day, sit around the campfire, and share stories.

Speke’s Camp Masai Mara activities include; day and night game drives in the reserve and the Masai Mara Game Park, hot air balloon safaris, walking safaris, sundowners, bush meals, and visits to local Maasai villages, expedition walks to the Loita Forest, learning Maasai skills and hunting methods.

* Late departure supplement –  room 150 US Dollars & 40 US Dollars per person for lunch
* A single supplement is not charged when a single client is occupying a single tent but is part of a bigger booking
* Single room supplement – 170 US Dollars per person per night. A single supplement is charged when there is a single guest traveling 
* Check-out time – 10.00 am. Late departure can be arranged but must be pre-booked and a surcharge of 150 Dollars will apply for lunch, activities, and other services
