Thika
is a small market town, north east of Nairobi.
The main attractions are Chania Falls and Thika
Falls, north of the center of town. Thika Falls

There are wooden walkways across the lower Chania
Falls and pools of rainbow trout downstream.

market on the eastern edge of Thika is worth a
visit for the patterned sarongs and Masai blankets.
Ol Donyo Sabuk is one of Kenya's smaller national
parks. This mountain park has forested slopes,
ravines and a summit with breathtaking views of
Mount Kenya, Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding
lowlands.

Highway, Fourteen Falls Lodge is an alcohol-free zone
situated on a 30-acre piece of land. The lodge borders
both the main road and Chania river at the bottom. It
is a secure environment with 24-hour security surveillance.

Falls Lodge accommodations is in traditional African
huts, fitted with all the modern amenities. There are
7 spacious cottages and all of different sizes. Fourteen
Falls Lodge offers standard, deluxe and family cottages.
The

Blue
Post Hotel is just off Thika road about 40
kilometers from Nairobi. Blue Post Hotel, lies on a
promontory where the Chania and Thika rivers meet to
form the Thika and Chania Falls. Nestled between two
falls –Chania and Thika; the hotel was started
in 1908; as a stopover for white settlers who lived
and farmed in central Kenya.
The
hotel was initially owned by a white man named Cape,
who later sold it to a Mr. Edward Sergent, until 1976
when it changed hands to the Kenyatta family. Before
the present hotel, which has an African touch with Makuti
roofing was built; the residence bar comprised of shades
with blue pillars; and that’s where it derived
its name from.
