Tsavo National Park

This 10-day road safari encompasses the very best of Kenya including many key wildlife areas. The trip begins with game drives in Tsavo West National Park, then moves on to Amboseli National Park, home to the majestic herds of elephants and glorious views of Mt Kilimanjaro in neighbouring Tanzania.

The tour then stops for lunch at the famous carnivore restaurant in Nairobi before continuing to Lake Naivasha. While in Naivasha, visit Crescent Island Game Sanctuary for a nature walk with wildlife and also take a day trip to the nearby Lake Nakuru National Park.

Then the time has come to explore Masai Mara National Reserve – one of the most famous game parks on the planet, considered by many to be the finest wildlife safari destination in all of Africa.

Beginning and ending in Nairobi, the tour travels to the vast Tsavo West National Park. Tsavo West is home to a wide variety of wildlife including Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Buffalo, Hippo, Elephant, Oryx, Eland, Zebra, Giraffe, spotted Hyena, Kongoni, Waterbuck, Impala, Duiker and Klipspringer.

After two nights in Tsavo, the tour continues to Amboseli National Park, home to large herds of Elephants whose population is one of the few in Africa that has been spared from poachers. Predators in the park include Hyenas, Jackals, Lions, Leopards and Cheetahs.

Birdlife in abundance flourishes particularly in the marshes and swamps. Over 420 species have been counted within the park as a whole including 6 species of vulture, 12 species of heron and 10 varieties of an eagle.

The trip then travels back to Nairobi for a meal at the famous Carnivore, an open-air restaurant specializing in meaty meals before proceeding to Lake Naivasha. Lake Naivasha is a serene freshwater lake home to exceptional numbers of water birds with over 400 species recorded, as well as hippos and other animals.

Activities at Lake Naivasha include taking a boat ride to the Crescent Island Game Sanctuary where you walk freely among the wildebeest, giraffe, impala, and zebra.

Take a full-day trip to the scenic Lake Nakuru National Park, an important wildlife sanctuary for some of Africa’s endangered species, especially black and white rhinos, and Rothschild Giraffes. The game park is also home to lions, waterbuck, buffalo and baboons, which we keep an eye out for on our game drive.

Finally, head into one of the top game parks in Africa – the epic Masai Mara National Reserve. The Mara is home to the Masai giraffe, Baboons, Warthogs, Bat-eared Foxes, Grey Jackals, Spotted Hyena, Topis, Impala, Hartebeests, Wildebeest, Elephants, Buffalos, Zebras and Hippos are also found in great numbers.

The ultimate action here is without a doubt the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration, in July and August when millions of these grazers move north from the Serengeti in search of lusher grass before turning south again in October.

Balloon trips are an outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains teeming with wildlife. These Masai Mara balloon trips can be arranged at extra cost.
