Lewa Wilderness Lodge

Our 11-day fly-in luxury safari offers an exclusive experience in 3 celebrated conservancies and concessions in Kenya; Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Laikipia, Kalama Community Conservancy in Samburu and Naboisho Conservancy in Masai Mara.

This private conservancy safari offers you a set of distinct advantages that are not available in national parks like: night game drives, off-road game drives, crowd-free game viewing and guided nature walks.

Expect to see huge herds, diverse species, and great encounters with the big cats. But you won’t find other vehicles ruining the photos. Access is limited to people staying at the luxury camps within the conservancy, and they understand the importance of minimizing visitors.

These private conservancies and reserves also share unfenced borders with some of Kenya’s legendary national parks and offer the best of both experiences: you have all the advantages of the private conservancy with easy access to the national park.

Your safari begins with a flight to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Laikipia, now Kenya’s premier place to see northern white and black rhino.  You will get to enjoy all the usual benefits of off-road driving, night drives and guided nature walks available only in a conservancy.

The game viewing is consistently spectacular – it’s not uncommon for you to see all the Big 5 in a single game drive. Other activities on offer during your 3-night stay at Lewa Wilderness Lodge include tennis, horse riding, camel trekking and even soaring flights in a vintage biplane.

Visit the lovely Ngare Ndare waterfalls, cultural visit to Il’ Ngwesi village, and join the anti-poaching dogs to understand their crucial role in protecting Kenya’s rhino stronghold.

Your next stop is Saruni Samburu, a deluxe lodge set in a breathtaking position in the private Kalama Wildlife Conservancy adjacent to the Samburu National Reserve in northern Kenya. The lodge has just six villas and offers a superb safari experience in pristine surroundings.

Spend 3 nights at Saruni Samburu which specializes in crowd-free game viewing for wildlife enthusiasts who want to get close to nature. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives, guided walks with Maasai warriors and night drives.

Then fly to Masai Mara Naboisho Conservancy which lies within the greater Masai Mara ecosystem in Kenya. This private wilderness is home to Naboisho Camp an authentic and intimate safari camp with just eight tented rooms.

Game drives take place in the conservancy and the neighboring Masai Mara National Park. Safari activities include guided nature walks as well as walking safaris, and the late afternoon game drives blend seamlessly into sundowners and spot-lit evening drives.

EMARA Ole-Sereni is an up-market Five-Star hotel situated just off Mombasa road on the edge of the Nairobi National Park – the only park in the world that borders a capital city.

This luxury hotel is located about 15 minutes from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Enjoy uninterrupted views of Nairobi National Park from the comfort of the hotel’s spacious verandas.

The hotel has essential facilities such as swimming pools and the all-important complimentary Wi-Fi, and there is a long list of activities available, from Nairobi National park game drives to city excursions.

Day 2, 3 & 4: Nairobi – Fly to Lewa Downs Wildlife Conservancy

After breakfast we transfer to Wilson airport and fly to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Laikipia, now Kenya’s premier place to see northern white rhino and black rhino.

Lewa is a private wildlife conservancy situated against the dramatic backdrop of the snow-covered massif of Mt Kenya. With wildlife densities as high as anywhere in Africa, it is possible to see all of Africa’s Big Five here, and the conservancy provides a refuge for several endangered species such as White Rhinos.

Stay for 3 nights at Lewa Wilderness Lodge, a perfect and comfortable lodge for true safari lovers who really want to immerse themselves in a very special part of Kenya. Get the thrill of getting up-close with nature and discover some of Lewa’s best kept secrets!

The best time for wildlife sightings are either early in the morning when the animals are particularly active or in the late afternoon. Enjoy exciting night drives to spot rare nocturnal wildlife. In addition, enjoy wonderful bush walks with an experienced guide from the local Masai community.

Learn more about your Maasai guide’s daily activities while you stride through thick grass and spot camel and other wildlife roaming freely in their habitat. You could also explore the wilderness around the lodge on horseback, and experience the freedom of riding under the open sky and a never-ending horizon.

If you fancy something a little more adventurous, however, you could take a camel ride through the bush; or even opt for a two-night camel trek through the great African plains!

Day 5, 6 & 7: Lewa – Fly to Kalama Wildlife Conservancy, Samburu

After breakfast we transfer by a short flight to Kalama Wildlife Conservancy adjoining the Samburu National Reserve. Samburu lies on the fringes of the vast, arid desert, once known as the Northern Frontier District. Since the lodge is only 7 km away from the border between Kalama and Samburu National Reserve, our safaris cover both reserves.

We stay for 3 nights at the Saruni Samburu lodge which has spectacular views over the Northern Frontier District and Mount Kenya from its decks and two infinity pools.

Go on morning and evening game drives to look for classic African animals in three of the surrounding reserves. Spend the afternoon at the river with a picnic or walk with Samburu warriors and explore the Kalama mountains and rock art on foot.

And after the day’s programme, relax and revive at the spa overlooking the Kalama Conservancy or take a dip in one of the two swimming pools, which have amazing views.

Day 8, 9 & 10: Samburu – Fly to Masai Mara Naboisho Conservancy

With breakfast done in Samburu we fly to Mara Naboisho Conservancy bordering the Maasai Mara National Reserve.  Mara Naboisho Conservancy is a 50,000-acre wildlife conservation area in Kenya’s Greater Mara Region and has a higher density of wildlife than the adjacent Masai Mara National Park.

With roughly 100 lions living in the vicinity, Mara Naboisho has one of the highest lion densities in the world. The Kenyan conservancy also boasts impressive herds of elephant, giraffe, wildebeest and zebra as well as Kenya’s rare wild dog.

We stay for 3 nights at the Mara Naboisho Camp, an authentic and intimate safari camp with nine comfortable guest tents offering high levels of service and an excellent location for game viewing.

Popular activities include game drives, night drives, walking safaris, hot-air balloon rides, fly camping, cultural visits, swimming and photographic safaris.
