Tsavo National Park

This 3 Day Classic road Safari package from Watamu/ Malindi combines two National parks – Tsavo East & Tsavo West.  Tsavo is Kenya’s biggest park and, at 22,000 km² (13,671 miles), one of the world’s largest game sanctuaries.

Tsavo lies half way between Mombasa and Nairobi and it is the road and railway between Kenya’s two main cities that divides it into East and West.

The larger Tsavo East offers a vast and largely untapped wilderness of arid bush with some of the most dramatic landscapes in Kenya; generally flat, with dry plains across which the Galana River flows. Other features include the Yatta Plateau and Lugard Falls, and Baobab trees are a common sight.

Large herds of dust red elephant occur, along with rhino, lion, buffalo, leopard, gerenuk, lesser kudu to name a few species. Birding is exceptional with almost 500 recorded species.

Tsavo West National Park has an area of 9065 km2.  Tsavo West attractions includes bird watching, Mzima springs (underwater hippo and fish watching), Volcanoes, lava flows and caves and wildlife safaris.

Animals of Tsavo East include lions, leopard, cheetah, wild dogs, buffalo, rhino, giraffe, zebra, crocodile, mongoose, hyrax dikdik, lesser kudu and nocturnal porcupine.

After spending a night at a lodge or camp located on Tsavo East you depart by road and drive along Mombasa/ Nairobi road to Tsavo West National Park.  Activities here include game drives, a visit to the Rhino Sanctuary and Mzima springs.
