This 3 -day Tanzania road Safari combines three northern Tanzania wildlife areas namely Arusha National Park, Tarangire National Park, and Lake Manyara National Park.
The safari begins with the closest national park to Arusha town – northern Tanzania’s safari capital – Arusha National Park, home to Mt Meru standing at 4565 meters, Ngurdoto Crater, and the Momella Lakes.
Arusha National Park is an easy 40-minute drive from Arusha town. It is approximately 60 km (35 miles) from Kilimanjaro International Airport. Upon arrival in the park, we enjoy a peaceful and scenic canoeing safari following the shorelines of small Momella Lake.
On this 2- 2.5 hours canoe safari, you can view Buffaloes, Bushbuck, Giraffes, Hippos, and many water birds living in and close to the water. Later proceed on a half-day game drive in the park which is famous for white and black Colobus monkeys, Burchell’s Zebra, Giraffe and herds of Buffalo, Bohor reedbuck, Python, Elephants Bushbuck, Hippos and many water birds living in and close to the water.
Late evening drives back to your hotel/ camp for dinner and overnight. Accommodation options include Hatari Lodge, Lake Duluti Hotel, Mount Meru Game Lodge, Mount Meru Game Lodge, Arusha Safari Lodge, and Moivaro Coffee Plantation Lodge.
Day two begins with traveling to Tarangire National Park, known for its big herds of Elephants. We explore the game park in a customized 4×4 safari vehicle with a pop-up roof for maximum visibility. We stop in the bush for a picnic lunch on our game drive.
Tarangire hosts an array of wild animals, including Lions and Buffalos, as well as various Antelopes, Wildebeest, Giraffes, and Zebras. The national park covers some 2600km² of wilderness, characterized by undulating plains dotted with baobab and acacia trees.
After our wildlife adventure in Tarangire Park, we head to our overnight stay at a camp/ lodge in Tarangire National Park. Accommodation options include Oliver’s Camp, Sanctuary Swala, Chem Chem Safari Lodge, Tarangire Safari Lodge, Tarangire River Camp, and Kirurumu Tarangire Lodge.
On day 3, we make our way to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive. This scenic national park protects the north-western part of Lake Manyara, running along the base of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment.
On entering the park, the road takes us through a lush jungle-like forest, home to baboons and monkeys, before opening on to a grassy floodplain. Large buffaloes, wildebeest, giraffes, and herds of zebra congregate on the grassy plains.
Further inland the legendary tree-climbing Lions and Elephants can be found in a narrow belt of woodland. As well as the many animals, Manyara is home to prolific birdlife and is famous for the huge flocks of Flamingos along the lake-shore.
We enjoy a box lunch at a picnic site within the park and later exit and return to Arusha where our memorable 3 Days Arusha National Park Tarangire Lake Manyara Safari ends.

Day 1: Arusha Town – Drive to Arusha National Park (Canoe Tour)
0800 Hours: After a leisure breakfast at the hotel drive to Arusha National Park for a canoeing safari following the shorelines of small Momella Lake inside Arusha National Park.
Arusha National Park is the only place in Tanzania where you can get close to Buffalo without being charged. You will see Giraffes, Bushbucks, Waterbucks; where you can witness a 600-species strong bird community.
The park offers great views of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro at the same time from the exciting luxury of our stable two-person canoes.

1700 Hours: Late evening drives back to your Arusha National Park accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Arusha National Park – Drive to Tarangire National Park
0800 Hours: After breakfast at our lodge/ Camp we proceed by road to Tarangire National Park located slightly off the main safari route, Tarangire National Park is located 118 kilometres (75 miles) southwest of Arusha. Tarangire National Park is a lovely quiet park in Northern Tanzania that is most famous for its elephant migration, birding and quiet authentic safari atmosphere.
Tarangire National Park comprises of mostly dry, open woodlands, which include thorny acacia thickets and lots of its signature baobab trees.
Elephants are the main attraction with up to 3,000 in the park during the peak season months.
1100 Hours: Arrive at the park and proceed for a game drive en-route to your Lodge/ Camp.
1300 Hours: Arrive at your accommodation. After lunch relax before setting out on the afternoon game drive.
1530 Hours: Depart for the afternoon game drive. Peak season in Tarangire sees good numbers of Wildebeest and Zebra as well as Giraffe, Buffalo, Thompson’s Gazelle, Greater and Lesser Kudu, Eland, Leopard and Cheetah.
The real prizes in the park are dwarf mongoose, Oryx and Generuk but viewings are very rare.
With a range of environments and good game, Tarangire birdlife is also varied – and over 500 species have been recorded here, including ashy starlings and large flocks of beautiful Yellow-collared lovebirds, both of which are endemic to Tanzania.
1830 Hours: Return to the camp/ lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Tarangire National Park – Drive to Lake Manyara National Park – Drive to Arusha
0800 Hours: Breakfast at the lodge/ camp then proceed by road to Lake Manyara National Park with packed lunch.
The Lake occupies a large area of the park, the forest starts just when you cross the park gate along the base of the Great Rift Valley and hot spring to the west of the park.
The park is home to Tree climbing Lion, Zebra, Giraffes, Lions and Kirk’s Dik-dik, Klipspringer, Bushbuck, Buffalo, Wildebeest, Giraffe, Hippo and troops of Baboons amongst others.
Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s bird life. More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day.
Highlights include thousands of pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration, as well as other large water birds such as pelicans, cormorants and storks.
1200 Hours: Enjoy your box lunch at a picnic site within the park.
1300 Hours: Proceed on another game drive in the park.
1500 Hours: Exit the park and drive back to Arusha
1800 Hours: Arrive back in Arusha and drop you off at your hotel/ residence
