Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

This 6-day Kenya road Safari combines 3 of Kenya’s finest game parks – Amboseli National Park, Tsavo West National Park & Taita Hills Game Sanctuary.

We explore these wildlife parks on 4×4 game drives in search of Africa’s Big Five and the plethora of other wildlife found in these beautiful reserves of southern Kenya.

Amboseli is famous for its large elephant herds and close-range wildlife sightings with the majestic Kilimanjaro as a scenic backdrop. Tsavo, best known for its lions, is one of Kenya’s oldest and one of the world’s largest reserves.

The Taita Hills Wildlife Conservancy is a privately owned sanctuary located just next to Tsavo West National Park and offers breath taking landscape views of the Kilimanjaro, Pare, Uluguru mountains and the clusters of Taita Hills with a seasonal river dividing the sanctuary into valleys and lowland plains.

Beginning from Nairobi the tour could end in Mombasa or return back to Nairobi. Starting from Nairobi your adventure in the bush begins with spectacular Amboseli National Park.

Amboseli is famous for close encounters with big herds of elephants. The game park is a photographer’s paradise combining close range wildlife sightings with the scenic landscapes, featuring the towering Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain.

After 2 nights in Amboseli we proceed by road to Tsavo West National Park.  Tsavo East and Tsavo West together cover some 13747km², making this one of the biggest game reserves on earth.

Famous for the lions of Tsavo, this reserve is also home to the rest of the Big Five of Africa – buffalos, leopards, rhinos and elephants. Other inhabitants include a variety of antelopes, giraffes, hyenas, cheetahs and hippos.

We spend 2 days on morning and afternoon game drives in search of Africa’s Big Five and the plethora of other wildlife inhabiting this Kenyan game reserve.

Our next stop is the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary spectacularly located at the foot of the Taita Hills adjacent to Tsavo National Park, one of the world’s largest game reserves.

The sanctuary hosts diverse species of mammals that include Elephants, Lion, Buffalo, Giraffe, Eland, Oryx, Lesser kudu, Zebra, Impala, Dik Dik, Water buck Gazelle, Cheetah, Leopard amongst the 56 animals recorded in the sanctuary. Here we enjoy activities such as game drives, nature walks and bird watching.

After a night at Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, we drive back through rural Kenya to the capital city, Nairobi. You also have the option of ending the safari in Mombasa.

The park has large herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, giraffes, lions, and a variety of other animals and birds all of which are attracted to this park due to its permanent supply of water from Mt. Kilimanjaro’s melting snow.
