7 Days Climbing Mount Kenya Timau Trek Route; The Timau Track, the main access route on the north side on the mountain lies in a major rain shadow.

Because of this there is a very little forest on this side of the mountain. However since you are inside a low rainfall zone it generally makes for a drier safari and a more pleasant trek.

The slope is gentle and because the peaks on Mt. Kenya line up east to west the views from the north give you the impression you are trekking into a whole mountain range.

This rarely trodden route starts from the northwestern part of Mt Kenya. The climate and vegetation is savannah type and as you hike you will invariably see herds of zebra, eland and gazelles on the lower part of the mountain.

Mount Kenya is Africa’s second highest mountain standing at 5,199m, poised magnificently on the equator.

Her spectacular snow-capped peaks create a stunning backdrop all year- round, and are crowned to be the only snow- blessed point on the equator.

Africa’s most stunning mountain treasures sweeping valleys infused with jeweled streams and lucent- colored birds who will befriend you on sight.

Mount Kenya’s prestigious peaks are prized as the top rock climbing cliffs in East Africa, promising you soaring views from directly over top the equator.
