7 Days Uganda Safari Jinja Rafting Kibale Queen Elizabeth Bwindi tour is an adventure through Uganda best national parks, staying different lodges and camps in different areas, each offering a unique style and experience.

The trip begins in Kampala for the ultimate White Water Rafting in Jinja. There is no better way to fully experience the River Nile and the lives of the Ugandan people who live along its banks than to embark on a day rafting trip.

Our next destination is Kibale National Park with a huge forest with plenty of wildlife and among these includes primates like chimpanzees, black and white Colobus monkeys, Red-tailed and grey cheeked Mangabeys.

Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee tracking.

Game drives in Queen Elizabeth national park enable us to see a variety of mammal including chimpanzees and up to 20 predators (lion, leopard, spotted hyena, etc), antelopes, buffaloes, hippos and elephants.

Included on the tour is a visit to Kalinzu Forest located a 45-minute drive from Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The forest is the second-best choice for seeing Chimpanzees on a trek after Kibale Forest with a 95% success rate in observing Chimpanzees.

We end the tour with a visit to Bwindi National Park for Gorilla trekking. Other animals seen include  Hoest’s, red-tailed and blue monkey, black and white Colobus, Olive Baboon.

There are around 350 species of birds hosted in this forest. The tour ends by a return trip back to Kampala/ Entebbe.

Safari Itinerary in Detail

Day 1: Kampala – Drive to Jinja White Water Rafting and return to Kampala

0530 Hours: Breakfast at your hotel then depart for Jinja. En route, we visit the Sezibwa Falls and the Mabira Forest for a walk.

0800 Hours: On arrival in Jinja, you will meet your fellow rafters and guides while enjoying a delicious rafting breakfast.

After an initial briefing, you will fit out with life jackets and helmets before heading off downriver to the start point.

Once down at the river’s edge, you will receive a detailed safety briefing, before launching into the river for some practical instruction. You will cover 25 km in about 4 to 5 hours on the river.

At the end of the rafting day, we enjoy a delicious barbeque buffet with cold beers and sodas. After lunch, you will be transported back to Kampala or Jinja.

Note: Dress: Light clothing, shorts & a t-shirt are ideal. Lots of suntan lotion & a cap.

Fitness Level: 16 years minimum. Under 18’s – guardian conditions apply. No rafting or swimming experience necessary, however, guests should be water confident and reasonably fit.

Day 2: Kampala – Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

0700 Hours: After breakfast, our safari driver guide will pick you up from your hotel residence and drive southwest via the Fort portal to Kibale National Park. The drive will take approximately 5 to 6 hours.

As you drive along the way you will enjoy the scenery and see the Ugandan way of life in their traditional homesteads and farms.

A one hour break is scheduled at Fort portal for lunch at a hotel then proceed to the Park. Check-in and relax before dinner.

Day 3: Kibale Forest National Park Chimpanzee tracking/ Nature walk (Bigodi Swamp)

Enjoy a cup of tea/ coffee in the morning then transfer to the ranger station by 0700 Hours. At the station, you will have a short briefing about the Chimpanzee trekking tour. Chimpanzee tracking can take is a half a day activity. As you walk in the forest there are also other primates you will see.

You will get to see them forage in the forest for fruits etc. Your guide will provide information as you walk. During the walk, you will stop occasionally to listen to the calls of the chimps as you look for them in the dense forest.

Other animals and primates that may be seen include; black and white Colobuses, the rare L’hoest monkey, bush baby, baboons and mammals like elephant, butterflies can be seen.

Bird lovers will have a chance to spot various species of birds like the rumped tinker birds among others. Come back to the hotel for lunch and relaxation.

After lunch, take a visit to Bigodi swamp sanctuary for a nature walk which may gift you with a chance to see over 229 tree species found within the wet tropical forests of the park.

Plus also different primates such as blue monkeys, baboons and a variety of birds. Return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Kibale Forest – Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast say goodbye to the Kibale Forest as you make your way south through rich farmland, travelling on the slopes of the Ruwenzori Mountains – one of Africa’s largest mountain ranges. Cross the equator before reaching the renowned Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After enjoying lunch at your new accommodations, set off on a game drive in Uganda’s prime game viewing region and be on the lookout for elephant and buffalo.

As these are the breeding grounds of the Uganda knob, you will be sure to see them grazing in the grass.

Continue your game viewing in the park as you explore the network of tracks in search of the animals you have not yet seen. In the evening, embark on a cruise of the Kazinga Channel, home to the largest concentration of hippo.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth – Drive to Kalinzu Forest (Chimpanzee Tracking) and transfer to Bwindi National Park

Following your breakfast, we drive to Kalinzu Forest – Chimpanzee Tracking is accessible from the Mweya area of Queen Elizabeth Park it is a 45-minute drive.

Kalinzu Forest is near Queen Elizabeth Park and chimpanzee trekking here is usually better than in the Kyambura Gorge.
This is a National Forest where the minimum age for chimpanzee tracking is 12 and not 15 to the delight of many children.

When it comes to seeing Chimpanzees in the Wild of Western Uganda, Kalinzu is the second-best choice for seeing Chimpanzees on a Trek after Kibale Forest with a 95% Success Rate in observing Chimpanzees.

There are six different species of Primates found in Kalinzu Forest Reserve including the Blue Monkeys, Vervet Monkeys, Black and White Colobus Monkeys, and Chimpanzees.

There are over 220 Chimpanzees, 70 plus chimpanzees have been habituated can be tracked here at Kalinzu Forest Reserve.

Midmorning we return to our accommodations and get ready for a transfer to Bwindi Forest National park. We drive via the Ishasha sector for the tree-climbing lions.

Day 6: Bwindi Mountain Gorilla Trek and Batwa Pygmies

Rise early, enjoy your breakfast and assemble at the park offices for a morning briefing on the trekking guidelines before embarking on this wonderful expedition through the thick dense canopy forest of Bwindi.

Usually, it takes about 30 minutes to several hours to encounter the mountain gorillas; but once got, enjoy an hour with them before retrieving to the starting point (for Certificates of Participation) before retrieving your lodge.

Later in the afternoon, head out for the Batwa pygmies tour for a clearer understanding of their culture.

Day 7: Bwindi Forest –  Return to Kampala

After breakfast, drive back to Kampala with a stopover in Mbarara for lunch. Continue via Masaka with a stopover at Mpambire drum making place if time allows. Head straight reaching Kampala in the evening.
