8 Day Kenya Safari Samburu Ol Pejeta Lake Nakuru & Masai Mara | 2 Nights Samburu National Reserve | 1 Night Ol Pejeta Conservancy, 1 Night Lake Nakuru National Park & 3 Nights Masai Mara | 8 Days 7 Nights Kenya road safaris | 8 Days Kenya Safaris

Lake Nakuru

This fantastic 8-day Kenya road safari begins and ends in Nairobi and includes a diversity of world-class game parks teeming with wildlife; Samburu, Ol Pejeta, Lake Nakuru & the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve.

The trip begins with travelling through incredibly scenic landscapes from Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve located on the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro river in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya.

Samburu region of Kenya is home to the rare grevy’s zebra, gerenuk antelope, blue-necked Somali ostriches, Beisa oryx, Elephants, Crocodiles, Reticulated giraffes, Hippos and Lions. Bird watching is excellent with numerous varieties of weaver birds and the martial eagle.

After Samburu, we make our way to the next safari destination, the scenic Sweetwaters/ Ol Pejeta Conservancy located in between the foothills of the Aberdare Mountain Range and Mount Kenya. The reserve is East Africa’s largest black rhino sanctuary and the only place in Kenya to view chimpanzees (Kenya’s only chimpanzee sanctuary).

Safari by vehicle is not the only option at Ol Pejeta. Safari game walks, horse rides and even camel rides are available, as are safari night drives. The conservancy is home to the Big 5 (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo and Rhino), Grévy’s zebra and Jackson’s hartebeest as well as Cheetah and Wild dog.

Next, we visit Lake Nakuru National Park, a relatively small national park home to Hippos, Baboons, Rhinos (black and white) and a variety of antelope species. Other wild inhabitants include Leopards and Lions, Giraffes, Zebras and Buffalos.

The shallow soda lake attracts a diverse abundance of bird species, numbering over 400 different species, and as such is a birder’s paradise and a Ramsar Wetland Area. When conditions are right, Lake Nakuru is visited by large flamingo flocks – an incredible sight.

From Nakuru, you then head into one of the top game parks in Africa – the epic Masai Mara National Reserve. The Mara is best known for the annual Great Migration that sees massive herds of Wildebeest, Zebra and Gazelle moving across the savannahs in search of fresh grazing.

It is also famous for its impressive populations of Africa’s big cats – Lions, Leopards and Cheetahs. The Big Five (Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant) are commonly sighted throughout the year, in addition to all kinds of plains game.
