Mara Intrepids Tented Camp is a luxury safari accommodation built on the banks of the Talek River in the Masai Mara National Reserve. The camp is a short drive from the Mara River, at the very confluence of the Mara’s four game-viewing areas, where more than a million wildebeest and zebra make their perilous migration crossing every July and August.
The camp can be reached either by road or by air. The distance from Nairobi to Masai Mara is approximately 280 km. It takes around 5-6 hours by road while flying time take approximately 45 minutes. The closest Airstrip is Ol Kiombo just 2 minutes’ drive from the camp.
Mara Intrepids Tented Camp Masai Mara has 30 air-conditioned tents consisting of Single tents, Double/ Twin tents & Triple tents. The tents are spread over the riverside site and arranged in 4 distinct clusters.
Each tent is spacious and lavishly fitted with African mahogany furniture, tea/coffee making facilities, work desk, wooden storage chest, clothes rack, mosquito net and 4 poster bed. The tents have furnished decks with views over the river and the en-suite with double vanities, showers and flush toilets.
The Mara Intrepids Tented Camp has a well-stocked bar overlooks the Burrungat plains and is an excellent place for a sundowner drink or an after-dinner night-cap. The high thatched roofs and polished wooden floors of the main lounge area create a cool, breezy area to relax.
Guests can have meals in the dining section, beside the river or dine in al fresco on the outside patio of the restaurant is a delight under the canopy of towering trees and untouched gardens.
The kitchen boasts its own vegetable garden where the freshest of homegrown herbs, fruits and vegetables are grown. Guests are spoilt for choice with fare ranges from continental to traditional African and Asian foods.
Mara Intrepids Camp resident genet and greater bush babies drop in during dinner, sometimes shy and curious, giving many a newcomer their first sighting of these nocturnal animals. Diners are treated to Masai dancing by the Masai Moran’s from the neighboring Manyattas and those daring enough can join in to challenge the Masai leaps.
Guests can keep cool on African afternoons in the camp’s refreshing keyhole shaped swimming pool. There is also a spa where guests can get relaxing massage to ease sore muscles.
Mara Intrepids Tented Camp activities include; game drives, birding, star gazing, photographic safari, hot air balloon safaris, village visits and bush dining.

Mara Intrepids Camp Game Drives; Three game drives every day in the reserve – the early morning from 6 am to 9 am; the midmorning after breakfast and finally the late afternoon from 3.30 pm returning to camp at sunset or you can indulge in a full day game drive to the Mara River with a packed picnic breakfast and/or lunch.
Mara Intrepids Camp Adventurers’ Club; Recommended for children accompanying their parents on safari this family program provides a fun and exciting opportunity for the kids to learn about the wild from our Masai naturalists who specialize in plants, wildlife and survival skills.
Children will be edutained through various activities and facilities on-site including an obstacle course that portrays the challenges wild animals face, don’t be surprised if you child comes out looking like Mowgli from Rudyard Kipling’s all-time favorite Jungle Book.
