Mkomazi National Park
Leave the crowds behind and venture into the truly wild game park of northern Tanzania on this 3-Day Mkomazi National Park private road safari! The highlights of this safari include wildlife viewing, bird watching, scenic Safari, and exotic vegetation.

From big herds of Elephants and Buffalos to prowling Lions, Leopards, and Cheetah,  unforgettable wildlife sightings await! On this private 3 day Mkomazi National Park Safari to Northern Tanzania, you’ll experience unspoilt Africa and encounter far fewer visitors than in the northern parks, like Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.

This tour begins and ends in Arusha. It starts with meeting your driver-guide in Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport followed by a road trip to Mkomazi National Park located in Northern Tanzania between Kilimanjaro and Tanga.

Mkomazi offers spectacular views of Kilimanjaro as well as a game viewing experience that includes the rare Black Rhinoceros and African wild dogs. Other rare inhabitants include the endangered Gerenuk (which can be found nowhere else in Tanzania) and the African Elephant.

As the sun begins to set, we make our way to the lodge near Mkomazi for dinner and a relaxing evening. Mkomazi accommodation options include Mkomazi Safari lodge, Mambo View Point Eco Lodge, and Babu’s Camp.

On day two we explore the vast Mkomazi National Park on 4×4 game drives taking a picnic lunch with us on our full-day safari. Typical of the arid Nyika are animals such as the Giraffe, Oryx, Gerenuk, Hartebeest, Lesser Kudu, Eland, Impala, and Grant’s Gazelle, Elephant, Buffalo, and numerous predators, including Lion, Leopard, and Cheetah.

The endangered African Wild Dog and Black Rhino have also been re-introduced. With over 400 species of birdlife including the Doves, Hornbills, and Weavers, as well as striking species of the martial eagle and violet wood-hoopoe, birding in Mkomazi is good.

Also, watch out for Cobalt, Chested Vulturine, Guinea fowl, Ostrich, Kori Bustard, Secretary Bird, and the migratory Eurasian Roller!

An early start on day three sees us setting off on a half-day game drive through Mkomazi National Park. Although Mkomazi doesn’t offer as much wildlife viewing when compared to other parks in Tanzania, the wild scenery compensates for it with mountains rising in every direction.

Learn more about conservation and Rhinoceros when you visit the Mkomazi Rhino sanctuary. On the morning game drive spot, some of the 78 species of mammals have been recorded here. You can spot the endangered African wild dog from anywhere in the park. Catch a glimpse of the Black Rhino at the fenced sanctuary.

After lunch, we drive back to Arusha. Your guide drops you off at your hotel or the airport bringing this remarkable private 3-day Mkomazi Tanzania Safari to a close.
