Olkoroi Camp Masai Mara

Olkoroi Camp Masai Mara is a budget safari accommodation located in the Loita Hills on the edge of a wildlife corridor linking the Naimina Enkiyio (Forest of the Lost Child) with the world famous Maasai Mara eco-system. The camp is close to the forested Olkeju Arus river in Masai Mara.

The Camp can be reached either by road or by air. The distance from Nairobi to Masai Mara is approximately 250 km.  It takes around 5-6 hours by road while flying time take about 45 minutes.

The camp has 4 safari tents each privately tucked away with exquisite views over the surrounding woodland and hills. Each tent has 2 beds, wooden chest, desk and its own outside open-air shower and compost toilet.

There is a campsite where guests bring their own camping gear and set up tents. The campsite has shared compost toilets and hot bucket showers. The guests on the campsite usually are on self-catering.

The Kitchen Olkoroi Camp is known for its mouthwatering meals, cooked over the open fire with freshly baked bread – baked to perfection in our organic earth oven. The caters for smaller groups of no more than 8 guests. Self-catering groups can make use of our open plan bush kitchen and outside mess area around the fireplace.

Experienced Maasai guides will guide you along ancient elephant paths through indigenous forest and woodland. Guided visits to traditional commercialized villages or cultural ceremonies is a highlight. Experience remote African living in beautiful natural settings with occasional wildlife passing through, while still enjoying simple comfort.

Wildlife – Nowhere in Africa is more wildlife abundant. The Mara is known as one of the finest wildlife destinations in the world, with an excellent chance of seeing the big five, cheetah, serval, hyena, bat-eared foxes, black-backed and side-striped jackals, hippo, crocodile, baboons, warthog, topi, eland, Thompson’s gazelle, Grant’s gazelle, impala, waterbuck etc.

Olkoroi Camp Masai Mara activities include; hiking, guided walks, bird watching, visit local markets, Maasai village visits, learn Maasai beadwork, visit local school and relax down by the river at the camp and soak in its tranquility.
