Pelican House Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Pelican House is a thatched upcountry self-catering cottage situated in the east of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia Kenya, 17 km from Nanyuki Airstrip. The house is located 215 km from Nairobi and driving time takes about 4 hours.

Scheduled flight from Nairobi land at the Nanyuki airstrip, which is a 45-minute drive away from the conservancy. It is also possible to charter a flight from any other park to Ol Pejeta’s airstrip (currently only open to charter flights).

Ol Pejeta is a renowned conservancy from the pioneering conservation projects that have made it famous to spectacular sightings of black and white rhino, the Big 5 and the world’s last two remaining northern white rhino.

The house overlooks the serene Pelican Dam. This cozy all-inclusive or self-catering cottage sleeps eight but can sleep 12 on request. It is a perfect place to enjoy downtime with friends and family.

Pelican House sleeps eight (8) people in the main building with a double suite in the garden separate to the main house with own bathroom. There are two large en-suite double rooms and a third double bedroom with separate bathroom. 

The house is booked on self-catering basis and has an open plan living and dining room with a huge fireplace and a separate equipped kitchen. Guests have the option of preparing their own meals or have the staff cook for them.

The dining room has a Cedar dining table with ten seats and writing tables under the windows facing Mount Kenya. The house staff includes housekeeping, someone to assist with cooking, a grounds keeper and night watchman.

The house has well-manicured grounds and colorful gardens, surrounded by the natural bush. A vegetable garden growing fresh ingredients sits next to the house. Electricity comes from a quiet generator.

Pelican House Ol Pejeta Conservancy activities include:  Maasai village visits, day game drives, visit Ol Pejeta Visitor Education Centre, night game drives and sundowners. Guests can enjoy other activities outside the conservancy like golfing, fishing, mountain biking and hike and camp in the nearby Mount Kenya and Aberdare National Parks.

* A beautiful, thatched self-catering or all inclusive cottage overlooking the serene Pelican dam
* Telephone reception is limited at Pelican House but there is free Wi-Fi available whenever the generator is on
* Please note that night game drives are only permitted in the company of accredited Ol Pejeta staff. Private vehicles are not permitted on night game drives whilst unaccompanied
* Caretakers live on site and are there to cater for your daily needs. Staff members include housekeeping, kitchen assistant, a grounds keeper and night watchman. Members of staff work eight hours a day, with reasonable break times

* Washing up liquid, washing powder/ fabric conditioner, bleach and toiletries for personal use
* Staff gratuities. Please be aware that if you request staff to work over their standard eight hours, we kindly request that you ensure that this over time is acknowledged in your tip
* There is a housekeeper on hand to help with housework, and a cook available at an additional cost (3,500 Kenya Shillings per day) who will help with breakfast, lunch and dinner
