Tsavo East Taita Hills Sanctuary 2 Days 1 Night Safari from Mombasa is an exciting wildlife tour that explores Tsavo East National Park, located near the town of Voi 153 km away from Mombasa.

The safari also includes a visit to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary – a privately owned wildlife sanctuary in Kenya located in the coast province in Taita – Taveta district 50 km from Tsavo East National Park.

Key attractions include the Galana River and the Yatta plateau, as well as several pools and dams used as watering holes by both birds and animals.

Tsavo East National Park is a natural area of flat, dry plains, with thorny bushes and swampy marshland near the river.

Tsavo East animals including giraffes, gazelles, hartebeests and zebras, as well as the “Big Five” must-see animals – buffalo, African elephants, lions, rhinos and leopards.

Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is home to cape buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, giraffe, zebra, hartebeest, lesser kudu and a great diversity of bird life.

Yatta Plateau is the world’s longest lava flow at 290km long

Walking safaris are offered by several guides along the Galana River

Lugard’s Falls is a series of rapids on the Galana River where crocodiles love to bathe
Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary is saving the black rhino from extinction due to hunting by poachers

Mudanda Rock is a 1.6 km outcrop of rock, with a dam at its base. This is a popular drinking place for animals

Tsavo East National Park Game Drive : You will see Cape buffalo, cheetahs, duikers, African elephants, gazelles, gerenuks, giraffes, hares, hartebeests, hyenas, impalas, leopards and lions.

Other animals include mongoose, black faced vervet monkeys, Sykes’s monkeys, crested porcupines, giant rats, black rhinoceros, squirrels, warthogs, waterbucks, and zebras.

Bird watching: Over 500 bird species have been recorded in the park, including ostriches, kestrels, buzzards, starlings, weaver birds, kingfishers, hornbills, secretary birds and herons

Day 1 : Mombasa – Drive to Tsavo East National Park

Our Safari leaves Mombasa and drives north towards the vast wilderness of Tsavo East National Park, Kenya’s oldest and largest Park.

Tsavo East National Park is 173 kilometers north-west of Mombasa. Its relative closeness to the beaches and tourist attractions around Malindi and Mombasa makes it an ideal wildlife safari destination.

Tsavo East National Park is a natural area of flat, dry plains, with thorny bushes and swampy marshland near the river.

It is teeming with diverse Kenyan animals including large families of giraffes, gazelles, hartebeests and zebras, as well as the “Big Five” must-see animals – buffalo, African elephants, lions, rhinos and leopards.

After lunch we spend the afternoon exploring the park where we can expect to see elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, kudu, zebra and hartebeest.

Day 2 : Tsavo East – Drive to Taita Hills Game Sanctuary for a Game Drive – Drive to Mombasa

0630 Hours: Enjoy early breakfast at the lodge/ Camp and depart for a game drive en-route to Taita Hills Game Sanctuary. Taita Hills is only 50 Kilometers from Voi on the Taveta road.

1000 Hours: Arrive at Taita Hills Game Sanctuary and proceed on a game drive in the park.

1300 Hours: Lunch at Taita Hills Lodge and there after proceed to Mombasa.

1700 Hours: Our arrival time in Mombasa will be late evening.
