Why Stay at Travellers Mwaluganje Camp?

Mwaluganje Elephant Game Sanctuary is close to the South Coast Mombasa beach resorts and offers virtually guaranteed sightings of large numbers of elephants, in perfect safety. Professionally escorted African Spice Safaris game drives take guests through forest and bush, where a variety of animals may be watched and photographed.

Among the many animals that reside in the sanctuary, which is not fenced, so that wild animals live natural, free lives as much as they have done for centuries, are zebra, bushbuck, warthog, Colobus and Sykes' monkeys and, with luck, leopard.

At Travellers Mwaluganje Camp there is always a traditional African evening campfire which is the highlight of the day after an enthralling African Spice Safaris game drive. Over a cocktail or cool drink, it is a time to recall the marvels of Africa's nature, and to wonder at the majesty and dignity of the stars of the show of elephants.

Travellers Mwaluganje Camp has superbly cooked meals which you will enjoy under the African stars with the background music - the hoot of an owl, the yelp of a jackal, the trumpeting of an elephant and occasionally the cough of a distant leopard. For entertainment, local Digo and Durama tribe dancers occasionally perform.

Mwaluganje is a shining example of a private conservation campaign to preserve the African elephant, which suffered enormous population losses over two decades. A magnificent and unique animal, Mwaluganje offers unrivalled opportunities to observe them at close quarters.
