One can go for fishing Fishing for Nile Perch. Additional activities include sailing, swimming, croquet, horse riding, bird watching, boating and water sports.

One of the great pleasures of Bulago is the sheer range and diversity of walks available and with two dominating hills on the island, the views can be magnificent. One can also do skiing and tubing on the lake or go fishing on a fast boat or on a canoe.

White Water Rafting Jinja Day Trip White Water Rafting Jinja Day Trip

White Water Rafting Jinja Day Trip from Kampala is a full day tour to Jinja approximately one hour’s drive from Kampala. White Water Rafting is mainly done on the River Nile in Jinja.

Our White Water Rafting Jinja Day Trip starts on the west bank of the Nile river above Overtime rapid and finishing near Hairy Lemon Island, about 20 kilometers down river.

The route includes eight Grade 3–5 rapids (two are Grade 5: Overtime and The Bad Place/ Itanda Falls). While on the river, you’ll get to see a lot of different birds, and you can swim in the calm stretches of water between the rapids.

The tour includes rafting equipment, return transportation from Kampala or Jinja, buffet lunch, beers and sodas.

White Water Rafting Jinja Day Trip Itinerary

0630 Hours: Whether staying in Jinja or Kampala, we will pick you up from your hotel/ residence to our rafting meet point. Please ensure that we are aware of your pick-up point by the night before. Bookings essential through [email protected]!

On arrival at our meeting point, you will have the opportunity to meet your fellow rafters and guides while enjoying a tea or coffee. After a quick briefing, you will fit out with life jackets and helmets.

Head off 15 kilometers down river to the start point of the days rafting. En-route you will have time to enjoy a breakfast of “Rolex”, fruit salad and juice. “Rolex” (rolled eggs) is Uganda’s famous equivalent of a breakfast burrito, a tasty Spanish omelete wrapped in a chapatti.

Rafting is a physical activity so make sure you eat up big. Snacks of fruit, nuts and biscuits are provided on the river to help keep your energy levels up throughout the day, but we don’t like to weigh you down with a big lunch just before the next major rapid.

White Water Rafting Jinja Day Trip rafting start point is on a flat pool just above our first major rapid, Overtime.

While our crew unload the rafts and slide them down the ramp into the river you will have time to admire the spectacular view as well as use the toilets and changing room provided on site.

Once down at the river’s edge, you will receive a detailed safety briefing, before launching into the river for a last bit of practical instruction as we float down the pool.

Overtime kicks off with a bang, as we maneuver through the rocks and negotiate the 12 feet drop.

As the river meanders through beautiful scenery, we guide the rafts into the mighty challenges of some of the biggest and safest grade 5 white water rafting in the world.

Eight major rapids are rafted plus several lower graded runs; all selected to maximize your safety and fun.

We stop before all grade 4 and 5 rapids to explain to you the planned route through, so if at any time you feel you would prefer to join the safety boat or where possible, walk around and then rejoin the raft, this is absolutely fine.

Calm stretches of water separate the rapids – perfect for getting your breath back, taking a swim and enjoying the scenery.

At the end of the rafting day we pull over at our new Riverside Restaurant, just downstream of the Hairy Lemon Island, for a delicious Barbeque buffet lunch and cold beers and sodas.

Once you have eaten your fill and sated your thirst with a couple of cold ones, you will be transported to your next destination, shuttle bus to Kampala, or back to Jinja.

Arusha Shanga River House Lunch Crafts Store Day Tour is a 2 to 3 hour guilt-free shopping trip with lunch at the Shanga River House Restaurant in Arusha.

Shanga River House is a for-profit organization that teaches and supports the local disabled who make beautiful souvenirs ranging from glass jewelry [great way to recycle] to fabric products like elephant pillows and bags.

They also partner with other local designers/ organizations that help the local community and wildlife. Shanga River House workshops and shop are open 7 days a week from 0930 Hours to 1630 hours.

Shanga is simply amazing. People with disabilities, some who might otherwise be tossed away or ignored by society, are empowered through art, and they make some beautiful things on-site using recycled materials.

Trash is a big problem in Tanzania; people burn it, and there was plenty along the side of the road, so being able to channel that trash into beautiful merchandise goes a long way in keeping this beautiful country clean.

Arusha Shanga River House Lunch Crafts Store Day Tour

Arusha Shanga River House Lunch Crafts Store Day Tour includes Shanga’s art workshop areas where you get to meet some of the artisans behind the glassware, beads, paintings, and fabrics for sale in the store.

As you wind your way through Shanga, you will marvel at beautiful decor like walls of recycled wine bottles that magnified the warm light and make a lovely noise when gently moved.

Shanga has people making beaded jewelry and cloth from recycled materials. They have stuffed elephants made from men’s’ shirts. You will be tempted to buy stuff for your family.

There is so much talent, pride, and focus in the artists at Shanga, and it is fun to watch them work.

All done by 42 disabled Tanzanian tribes who never had a chance to work before. After the tour you will visit River House restaurant on its grounds, which offers delicious lunches and coffees in a serene and breathtaking environment.

It was well worth the trip and an enchanting place to spend the day.
