Rock Restaurant Zanzibar Experience; The Rock Restaurant is located in a unique position on a rock in the middle of the Indian Ocean south east of the island, on the Michamwi Pingwe peninsula in Zanzibar.

The restaurant is a 10 minutes car drive from Paje village,  1 hour from Stone Town Zanzibar and 1.5 hours drive from the extreme north tip of the island, Nungwi. Come dine at sea.

The Rock Restaurant Zanzibar Experience includes a 2-way (return) transfers from your hotel to The Rock and then back to your hotel. Once you reach the beach there are two options to access The Rock.

If the tide is low you can simply walk along the rock paths that take you to the stairs of the restaurant. If the tide is high there is a small wooden boat that takes you directly to the stairs. This a service is offered by the restaurant.

The restaurant is perched on a Zanzibar rock with breathtaking views of Indian Ocean. Rock Restaurant Zanzibar seats 45 diners at a time and is 7 meters high, allowing the water around it to rise 4.5 meters up the rock.

Diners are provided with boats back to shore from at high tide. The Restaurant offers both indoor dining and outdoor seating over the sea. Breathtaking views and fresh sea air also greet visitors who come to this restaurant, in Zanzibar, East Africa.

At the suitably-named Rock Restaurant, diners are provided with more than just fresh fish caught from the Indian Ocean below. The restaurant serves a wide variety of seafood which one can relish on and the food served here is always fresh as the nature’s beauty surrounding it.

The food has a distinct twist of the Zanzibar cuisine which include delicacies like Fish Carpaccio, Calamari prepared with prawns and zucchini or familiar treats like Lobster Spaghetti and much more.

Besides, drinks such as wine, beer and soft drinks are also served. At low-tide, the Rock Restaurant, in Zanzibar, East Africa, can be reached on foot. At other times of the day, diners are transported to and from the rock by boat.

If visitors come to the restaurant while the sea is low, they are able to walk to the rock with no problem.

But as they usually stay late on into the evening when the sea is high around the rock, the restaurant provides a boat service which travels to and from the shore. It is said to be a once in a lifetime experience to dine at the Zanzibar Rock restaurant.

You need to book for your table in advance and be there earlier if you want to see it in daylight.

Unguja Ukuu Boat Trip Zanzibar Day Tour Unguja Ukuu Boat Trip Zanzibar Day Tour

Unguja Ukuu Boat Trip Zanzibar Day Tour is a very special day boat trip to Unguja Ukuu village, far off the tourists track in Zanzibar. This is a great expedition for snorkelling, swimming and seafood enthusiasts.

Unguja Ukuu was the first capital city of the island of Zanzibar and Unguja Ukuu Village is 17 miles by road from Zanzibar town. Unguja Ukuu is notable as the site of what is believed to be the earliest settlement on Zanzibar, dating to at least the 8th century, although there is little remaining today from this era.

Unguja Ukuu is an authentic village where tourism has had almost no impact at all. The area is surrounded with Mangrove Forest.

As one of Zanzibar’s most fertile places, its profusion of forest makes it feel like a place where spirits and magic reside. For now the village offers only one hotel.

Our boat trip starts in Unguja Ukuu village with a traditional motorized dhow boat. We head to the small uninhabited islands, Miwi and Nianembe or Kwale in the protected Menai Bay, where you get to see the unique flora and fauna of Zanzibar’s tropical islands.

You stand some chance of spotting dolphins here – but not guarantee as or as easy to spot as the ones of Kizimkazi village. In case you get to see them here you will likely be the only guests watching.

There are unspoiled beaches with glooming white sands, perfect for relaxation, and the sea around the islands is very good for snorkeling.

After snorkeling the boat will take you to one of the small islands where your barbequed lobster and seafood buffet will be ready for you to tuck into.

During low tide you can walk around the Island with our village guide to show you a mystical cave behind the Island. On the way back to Unguja Ukuu you can enjoy the sunset and the wonderful atmosphere around you.

The Unguja Ukuu boat trip is a private trip.

Princess Salme Spice Tour Zanzibar is a Tour about Princess Sayyida Salme – daughter of the first Sultan of Zanzibar and a beautiful Arab Zanzibar princess who sent shockwaves through Zanzibar.  Was she a Rebel, outcast or a revolutionist?

Reason being she taught herself to write, conspired in a plot to overthrow her brother, became pregnant and eloped to Germany with a young merchant, Heinrich Ruete and wrote the sensational Memoirs of an Arabian Princess.

0800 Hours: You will be met by your guide at your Stone Town hotel around 09:00 and driven to the Mtoni Palace to start your tour. The tour begins with a sailing cruise on a traditional dhow along Stone Town's famous seafront to the Mtoni Palace ruins. This boat ride is a unique Zanzibar experience.

Mtoni Palace (Beit il Mtoni) is Princess Salme’s birthplace – where she lived as a child, just north of Stone Town.

We visit the ruins (Palace by then) where Salme was  born in 1844. Her bestselling book Memoirs of an Arabian Princess gives a lot of interesting details about Zanzibar's history and her life in the palace.

We take a tour of the ruins with a guide bringing to life both the palace's and Zanzibar's history. Next, a 15 minutes' drive will take you to Salome’s Garden.

This is a stunning Omani mansion which once belonged to Salme's uncle. It is set in an extensive and beautifully kept garden right by the sea.

These days, it is home to the Zanzibar Creative Education Foundation, a small non-profit project that teaches children from different backgrounds following Rudolf Steiner's concept of holistic learning.

You will be treated to a traditional coffee ceremony in the lush, romantic garden, with birdsong and happy kids providing a feel-good ambience. Then, you will visit the Kidichi Persian Baths, built for the second wife of Salme’s father.

You can still walk around the bathhouse, prayer room and relaxation area. Keep an eye out for the decorative peacocks and flowers in the stucco render.

You continue to Mzee Yusuf's spice plantation, which is also connected to the Sultan's family: you can still see the remnants of a small rest house that once belonged to Salme's brother.

A detailed Spice tour will take you around the plantation, and you will learn about (and taste!) the abundance of spices, fruits and herbal remedies grown in Zanzibar.

1200 Hours: After the tour you will be served a delicious local lunch, surrounded by the sights and sounds of Zanzibar’s countryside.  The traditional lunch includes Pilau, fish masala, stewed bananas, kachumbari salad, several vegetarian dishes, an array of fruits, fresh fruit juice and spice tea.

1300 Hours: From here, you’ll  travel to Stone Town, where the princess lived in a relative exile, unmarried and shunned by her family for her role in the intrigue.

The Palace Museum has a room dedicated to Salme’s life and writings. Your guide will take you to her house, where her romance with Heinrich Ruete began across the balconies, resulting  in secret trysts and meetings in the countryside.

1400 Hours: The  tour ends at the Gallery Bookshop,  where you can buy Salme’s book, Memoirs of an Arabian Princess, available in many languages.

Zanzibar Dolphin Day Tours Kizimkazi Boat Trip Zanzibar Dolphin Day Tours Kizimkazi Boat Trip

Zanzibar Dolphin Day Tours Kizimkazi Boat Trip is purely a dolphin exploration excursion. The spotting location in Zanzibar is in Kizimkazi village located on the Southern coast of Zanzibar Island where you can see both bottle-nose and humpback dolphins.

Kizimkazi village is located about 50 km's from Stone Town and 20 km's to the east coast of Zanzibar.

Zanzibar Dolphin Day Tours Kizimkazi Boat Trip Itinerary

0600 Hours: We pick you up from your hotel/ residence and drive you to Kizimkazi Fishing Village. The drive takes about an one hour from to Stone Town to Kizimkazi, located in Zanzibar’s South coast.

Kizimkazi is home to large numbers of bottle-nosed  and  spinner  dolphins, beautiful coral reefs and tropical fish.

0700 Hours: On arrival, we get a short briefing on safety and about the dos and don’ts when interacting with the dolphins. Then, you board a traditional ocean going dhow and set sail on the Indian Ocean in search of dolphins.

Our traditional sailing dhows are between 8 to 10 meters in length and are finished to the very highest standards and have public liability and marine insurance.

The dhows are fitted with outboard engines, marine VHF radios, gas inflatable life jackets, sunshade, boarding ladder, waterproof bags and first aid kit.

The shallow coastal waters around Kizimkazi are a most loved home base for dolphins that come here for the solid food supply, to attendant their calves, socialize and rest.  We are lucky enough to see dolphins on at least 85% of our trips.

Dolphin tours are best done early morning hours. As soon as the sun warms up the water, dolphins dive down to the ocean floor to escape warm water. The best time to see dolphins is between 5am Hours to 7am Hours.

You can get as close as 10 to 20 meters away from the dolphins. In the past, some guests have been lucky enough to swim and snorkel with them. Swimming with dolphins is one of those magical ‘must do’ life experiences, and doing it in the azure seas of Zanzibar’s south coast adds to the allure.

However, the dolphins aren’t tame, and can be shy and elusive. Although visitors see dolphins on the majority of outings, there are no guarantees.

1000 Hours: Whether  you’re  fortunate enough to see dolphins or not, you can enjoy two hours sailing and taking in the sights of the ocean. There’s superb snorkeling in the pristine coral reef  and swimming in the clear, warm water of the Indian Ocean.

1200 Hours: You’ll return to the beach for lunch, where you can swim in the shallower waters. Kizimkazi is also the site of a 12th century mosque, the earliest evidence of Islam in East Africa, and is thus worth a visit for both cultural and historical reasons.
