Solio Lodge Solio Game Reserve Aberdare Mount Kenya Laikipia Plateau is an intimate and luxurious gateway to outdoor adventure at the foot of Mount Kenya.

The lodge is the only guest accommodation located in the 45,000-acre Solio Game Reserve/ Solio Ranch Conservancy which is nestled between the lofty slopes of Mt Kenya and the peaks of the Aberdare Mountain Range.

Solio Lodge is about a 4 hour drive from Nairobi on good roads. By air, there are scheduled flights from Nairobi into Nanyuki Airstrip (followed by a 20 minute transfer to the conservancy gate and then a further 45 minutes to the lodge).

Solio has 5 individual cottages. The 5th cottage is a family unit and has 2 en-suite bedrooms sleeping up to 5 people.

Each cottage is very large and can comfortably accommodate 2 adults and 2 children in extra beds. Extra beds are on request only. The en-suite bathrooms have bath and shower with a separate loo.

Each cottage has a private lounge area with open fire, vast floor-to-ceiling windows frame and private decks with panoramic views of the nearby hills and Mount Kenya.

Healthy meals prepared with fresh ingredients from the Solio Lodge’s own organic vegetable garden are served in dining area or outside under the stars within sight of grazing waterbuck, zebras, and impalas.

The cool evenings make dinner a very cosy affair with bonfires, low light and candlelit tables.

Guests can sit around the large fireplace or exchange stories of the day as they enjoy cocktails on the expansive verandah, which looks out over the Kenyan mountains and open plains.

Guests can also enjoy in room spa treatments like massage services and other beauty treatments.

Activities in the Solio Lodge include game drives, horseback riding, guided walks, fishing, helicopter flights, bird watching, sun downers, night game drives and excursions to Mt. Kenya.

Children's activities include basic bush craft skills and enlighten them with interesting facts about the wildlife at large such as the simple tracks and markings of the wild.

Sangare Undercanvas Tented Camp

Sangare Undercanvas Tented Camp is a private camp on Sangare Conservancy in Laikipia, nestled on the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountain range. The camp approximately 166 kilometers North of Nairobi, 27 kilometers from Nyeri town and 50 kilometers from Nanyuki. It takes about 30 minutes flight from Nairobi to Sangare Airstrip.

There are 7 luxury tents comprising of 6 deluxe tents and 1 family tent. All the tents are comfortably furnished and feature work desk, carpets and furnished verandahs. The bathrooms are en-suite with flush toilets and bucket showers. Guests have the option of preparing their own meals or have the meals prepared for them.

There is a fully equipped kitchen for self catering. A central guest area provides comfortable sofas and coffee table books to read whilst kicking back with a gin and tonic or ice cold beer. Dining is a communal affair, with simple but delicious fare served either in the dining tent or, should the elements oblige, outside under a blanket of stars.

Aberdare National Park Accommodation

Sapper Hut Guest House Aberdare National Park is a secluded cabin located in the heart of Aberdare National Park, next to a small waterfall. The banda is about 160 kilometers from Nairobi.

This is the smallest of all self-catering accommodations in Aberdare National Park and is on an elevation of more than 10,000 feet (3,000 meters) hence nights are very chilly.

The banda is one and accommodates only 2 guests. The place consists of a single timber cabin with a bedroom sleeping 2 guests in 2 single beds.

There is a separate living room with a table, two chairs and a firewood cooking stove, a kitchen and a veranda. The bathroom is basic and is in the outdoors.

Samawati Cottages Lake Ol bolossat is located on 20 acres of well-manicured ground, right on the shores of the only natural lake in Central Kenya, Lake Ol'bolossat in Karandi Village in Nyandarua County.

The cottages are 170 kilometers from Nairobi and about 43 kilometers from Nakuru town.There are 3 rustic cottages and 1 large villa all uniquely designed and fully furnished with hand-crafted local furniture.

Each cottage has 2 sleeping areas the beds under a nook and can accommodate up to 4 guests. The downstairs area contains the kitchen area and lounge area fitted with a sofa bed, a fireplace and a single bathroom.

A wrought iron stair case with handcrafted wooden steps leads to the upper floor where there a small balcony area that overlooks the rest of the property, where the guests can enjoy some fresh air and the beautiful scenery of Dundori Hills.

The front verandah gives the guest a magnificent view of the lake.The villa has 2 floors, with three bedrooms; 2 enclosed bedrooms and 1 sleeping area in a nook.

There are 2 washrooms; 1 shower with separate toilet on the first floor and en-suite washroom with bathtub on the second floor.The villa has 2 balconies and one terrace and can only accommodate 8 guests.

The ground floor has a furnished living area with a beautiful fireplace, fully equipped kitchen and dining area, which is furnished with a spectacularly large square table.

Rapids Camp Sagana Kenya

Rapids Camp Sagana Kenya also known as the 'Adrenaline Camp’ is a white water rafting centre located in Sagana in Muranga, about 106 km from Nairobi. It takes about 2.5 hours drive from Nairobi to the camp.

Sagana River and Thangazi Village are in close proximity to the camp. The camp enjoys a river frontage of about 450 meters and the largest waterfall in terms of volume in Kenya.

The camp has 16 tented Bazuka tents which have double beds and the well manicured lawn can house up to 300 dome tents. The tents are hired and come with a sleeping bag and they can also be pitched next to the river Sagana. There are no cottages or rooms.

Sanitary facilities are modern and clean. The camp is also connected with electricity. Rapids Camp Sagana has running water and which is fetched water from the Tana and treated.

There is an onsite restaurant that serves continental and English breakfast in the bush. African delicious delicacies are available on pre–arranged basis. Alternatively, you can carry your own food and do self catering.

There is kitchen stuff for hire. The camp does not sell alcoholic beverages but guests are alloed to bring their own at a corkage fee. Guests can enjoy their meals while watching and listening to the massive waterfall of the Sagana River.

The camp has modern equipped kitchen and 8 outdoor eating areas which are covered with local thatch with a capacity between 15 guests to 120 guests. Guests have the option of preparing their own meals or have the meals prepared for them.

There are conference facilities that can accommodate between 15-20 guests and outdoor meeting venues which are thatched with local materials which can accommodate up 100 people.

The well manicured lawn also provide ideal venue for conferences (indoor and outdoor conference facilities), team building activities and weddings and can hold up to 650 guests.

Rapids Camp Sagana Kenya has a wide variety of activities and they include white water rafting, kayaking, river trekking, bungee jumping, bird watching, sport fishing, rock climbing, star gazing, boating and water fall challenge among others.

The camp also offers corporate team building, family team building, holiday team building, birthday parties, corporate functions and end of year parties.

Outspan Hotel Nyeri is a base hotel for the Treetops Lodge located in Nyeri Town, 162 Kilometers North of Nairobi the capital city of Kenya. Mweiga Airstrip is 20 kilometers away from the hotel. Makena Cottage Sandai Farm

Makena Cottage Sandai Farm is a self-catering cottage situated on Sandai Farm between Aberdare National Park and Mt. Kenya. The farm is 26.5 kilometers from Nyeri town and 220 kilometers from Nairobi and it takes about 3-4 hours drive.

There are 3 bedrooms which can accommodate up to 6 guests. The bathroom has a shower, flush toilet and wash basin. The cottage has its own cosy but yet spacious verandah and a little fireplace to barbecue just outside.

The cottage is tastefully furnished and features its own open living room with a fireplace, a dining table and open kitchen. The well equipped kitchen is fitted with a gas cooker, fridge, sink, cooking utensils and dishes.

The cottage is completely self-sufficient and equipped as a cottage for groups. Guests prepare their own meals. Electricity is provided by solar panels and water is obtained from a well and from collected rainwater.
