Tafaria Castle Country Lodge

Tafaria Castle Country Lodge is located Nyeri-Nyahururu Road in Ndaragwa at the foothills of the Aberdare Ranges (halfway between Nyeri 65 km's away and Nyahururu 39 km's towards Nyeri).

The hotel overlooks the Laikipia plains and Kenya's rooftop, the Mt Kenya.The closest airstrip is Mweiga Airstrip.

There are 72 guestrooms in various residential quarters and they include standard rooms, tents and cottages. The lodge has heated swimming pool.

There is the Lord’s room which is ideal for honeymooners and has separate bedroom and sitting room, telephone, satellite TV, mini bar, safe and en-suite bathroom with bathtub.

Near the Lord's room is the Lord’s Court which has 7 rooms.

In the lodge there is the Old House which a 3 bed roomed cottage and is tastefully fitted with a sitting room with a fireplace, satellite TV, mini bar and a verandah overlooking the castle.

There are 4 residential quarters and they include Vikings' Quarters, Damsels' Quarters, Knights' Quarters and Lost Knights' Quarters. Vikings Quarters are luxury tents with telephones, mini bars, safes, private patios and en-suite bathroom with shower.

In Damsels' Quarters, each unit has 2 guestrooms and tastefully fitted with mini bar, safe, telephone, Satellite TV, balcony with garden view and en-suite bathroom with hot showers.

The Knights' Quarters are en-suite and features safes, mini bars, telephones, satellite TVs and private patios.

The Lost Knights' Quarters are large rooms, each tastefully fitted with sitting area with a fireplace, telephone, satellite TV, tea/ coffee making facilities and minibar.

The Bailey restaurant in Tafaria Castle Country Lodge serves a variety of local and international cuisines. Guests can either dine in the inner or the outer section of the Bailey.

The Moat Bar is where guests enjoy refreshments as they look out to the Aberdare Ranges. Guests can also enjoy their favorite drinks ranging from cocktails to age-old wine as they listen to their favorite music.

There are conference facilities for meetings and corporate events both in the indoor meeting areas and outside in the well manicured grounds. The well manicured lawns also provide ideal venues for weddings and team building activities.

Activities in the Tafaria Castle Country Lodge include game drives into the Aberdare National Park, archery, sundowners, swimming, fishing, bush meals, nature walks, bird watching, horseback riding and hike around the village.

Day 1: Kampala – Travel by Road to Chimpanzee Forest National Park, Uganda
0700 Hours: After breakfast your safari driver guide will pick you up from your hotel/ residence and drive south west via Mityana to Fort Portal and on to Kibale National Park. The drive will take approximately 6 to 7 hours.

As you drive along the way you will enjoy the scenery and see Ugandan way of life in their traditional homesteads and farms.

1230 Hours: A one hour break is scheduled at Fort portal for lunch at a hotel then proceed to the Park. Check in and relax before dinner.

Day 2: Kibale National Park – (Chimp Trekking + Bogodi Birding, Nature Walk)
0630 Hours: Enjoy a cup of tea/ coffee in the morning then transfer to the ranger station by 0700 Hours. At the station you will have a short briefing about Chimpanzee trekking tour.

0800 Hours: The activity starts early in the morning at as you walk in the forest there are also other primates you will see. Chimpanzee tracking can take is a half a day activity.

You will get to see them forage in the forest for fruits etc. Your guide will provide information as you walk.

During the walk you will stop occasionally to listen to the calls of the chimps as you look for them in the dense forest.

Other animals and primates that may be seen include; black and white Colobus, the rare L’hoest monkey, bush baby, baboons and mammals like elephant, butterflies can be seen.

Bird lovers will have a chance to spot various species of birds like the rumped tinker birds among other. Come back at the hotel for lunch and relaxation.

1400 Hours: After lunch, take a visit to Bigodi swamp sanctuary located 6 km's south of the Kibale forest national park visitor centre at Kanyanchu for a 4,5 km long nature walk (3 hours).

Here you have a chance to see over 229 tree species found within the wet tropical forests of the park and about 200 species of birds.

The sanctuary is also home to 8 species of primates including the black-and-white colobus, grey-cheeked Mangabey, red-tailed, l’hoest’s and blue monkeys, and olive baboons. Bushbucks, mongooses

1830 Hours: Return back to your accommodations for dinner and an overnight.

Tusk Camp Cottage Banda Aberdare National Park is a forest camp located within the Aberdare National Park, about 160 kilometers from Nairobi. It takes about 3 hour drive from Nairobi to the banda. The band is about 2 kilometers from the Ruhuruini gate of the Aberdare National Park.

There are 2 bandas each sleeping 4 guest and are well equipped for self-catering. Each cabin has a bedroom, kitchen, dining area and spacious sitting room with a log fireplace. The verandas include a dining table where guests can enjoy the views.

Savage Wilderness Camp Sagana

Savage Wilderness Camp Sagana is sits on 8 acres of well-manicured green lawns in Sagana area, Murang'a county, about 100 km North of Nairobi. It takes about 2 hours drive from the camp to Nairobi. This is a perfect get-a-away for families.

The camp offers a variety of different accommodation such as cottages, bunk houses, standard tents and a campsite. There are 33 cottages all with mosquito nets, en-suite bathrooms and private patios.

Each cottage has 3 beds and a fourth bed can be added on request. There are 2 bunk houses that are ideal for students or youth groups. Each bunk house can accommodate up to 32 beds all with mosquito nets.

The camp has 7 lovely grassy areas with tents that can accommodate up to 100 guests and have mattresses. Alternatively guests can bring their own tents and camping equipment and camp on the beautiful lawns.

For guests who are on self-catered camping, the camp provides an eating area fully furnished with a table, benches, a grill, sink and running water.

Guests would have to bring their own pots and pans; cutlery, coal or gas and the food too. The riverside Camp has outside shaded eating areas, all with a BBQ grill, washing facilities, tables and chairs.

Food tastes even better in these beautiful surroundings. The bar at Camp is known as the 'Paddle Inn' and serves beers and soft drinks. Savage Wilderness Camp Sagana has 2 outdoor swimming pools, one on each side of the river.

The 2 pools both have patio areas where guests can lie around and catch up on sun tan. At the camp there are 2 shared large toilet and shower blocks that are open throughout and are cleaned regularly throughout the day.

All showers have hot water but towels are not provided. Savage has facilities that provide a more adventurous, exciting and original program of activities that brings out both individual and team strengths for a complete team building in Kenya.

Sandai Lodge Mweiga

Sandai Lodge Mweiga is located on Sandai Farm between Aberdare National Park and Mt. Kenya. The farm is 26.5 kilometers from Nyeri town and 220 kilometers from Nairobi and it takes about 3-4 hours drive.

The Samburu word for beautiful is sandai.

There are 6 unique self-catering units comprising of small roundhouses and cottages. The round houses include Azizi round house and Zawadi round house while the cottages are Chui cottage, Makena cottage and Punda Milia cottage.

All units are comfortably furnished and have showers and flush toilet.

Sangare Gardens Mweiga

Sangare Gardens Mweiga is located in Sangare area, adjacent to the Aberdare National Park in Mweiga, Nyeri. The lodge is 14.3 kilometers from Baden-Powell Museum and 9.4 kilometers from Solio Game Reserve.

Nairobi is about 170 kilometers away and it takes about 3 hours drive.

There are 10 guestrooms; 4 superior rooms, 1 family room and 5 deluxe rooms. The superior rooms are suitable for family set up they are 2 rooms upstairs and 2 rooms ground floor all in 1 unit.

Each room has a fireplace and en-suite bathroom with shower and flush toilet.The deluxe rooms are stand alone units separate from each other, all with antique and local decor to enhance homely atmosphere.

Serena Mountain Lodge Mount Kenya is located in the Forest Reserve Area of Mount Kenya National Park, at 2,194 meters on the slopes of Mount Kenya.

The lodge is 193 kilometers Northeast of Nairobi and the nearest towns are Nyeri at 42 Kilometers and Nanyuki 73 Kilometers.The lodge has 42 cabin-styled rooms comprising of 20 double rooms, 19 twin rooms and 3 triple rooms.
