Outspan Hotel Nyeri is a base hotel for the Treetops Lodge located in Nyeri Town, 162 Kilometers North of Nairobi the capital city of Kenya. Mweiga Airstrip is 20 kilometers away from the hotel. The hotel was built in 1927 by Major Eric Sherbrooke Walker and was once home to Lord and Lady Baden Powell, founders of the Scout and Girl Guide movements.

The hotel has 45 rooms with colonial architecture spread over 20 acres, comprising of cottages, deluxe rooms and standard rooms. Makena Cottage Sandai Farm

Makena Cottage Sandai Farm is a self-catering cottage situated on Sandai Farm between Aberdare National Park and Mt. Kenya. The farm is 26.5 kilometers from Nyeri town and 220 kilometers from Nairobi and it takes about 3-4 hours drive.

There are 3 bedrooms which can accommodate up to 6 guests. The bathroom has a shower, flush toilet and wash basin. The cottage has its own cosy but yet spacious verandah and a little fireplace to barbecue just outside.

The cottage is tastefully furnished and features its own open living room with a fireplace, a dining table and open kitchen. The well equipped kitchen is fitted with a gas cooker, fridge, sink, cooking utensils and dishes.

Day 1: Dar-es-salaam – Speed boat or fly to Zanzibar Island
We can help arrange flights and speed boats in and out of Zanzibar. Upon arrival in Zanzibar airport or harbour, we transfer to Stone Town and begin our tour.

Day 2: Zanzibar Island – Speed boat or fly to Dar-es-salaam
0800 Hours: We enjoy breakfast at the hotel then depart for the Spice Tour. During the tour you will learn about the spices, herbal values, in cooking food, and for dyeing traditional ceremonial outfits for weddings and festivals.

During the tour you will walk through villages and spice plantations. The spice farms workers will climb up the trees, looking for fruits, leaves and barks for you to feel and taste.

You can buy fresh spices directly from the farms.

1230 Hours: After the tour you will be invited for a traditional Swahili lunch served in a local house.

Later we shall visit the Kidichi Persian Baths built in 1850 by the first Sultan of Zanzibar as a gift for his Persian wife Sheharzad (grand daughter of Fateh Ali Shah of Persia).

After we shall transfer you to the harbor/ airport for your return trip to Dar-es-salaam.
