The Solio Reserve is also home to one of the most successful breeding projects for these highly endangered and vulnerable animals.
SaSaab Camp is located close to the Buffalo Springs and Samburu National Reserves, in Kenya’s Northern Frontier District.
It’s a place of rich natural diversity with an astounding number of animals from huge majestic elephant to lion, leopard and cheetah and the ‘Samburu Special Five’: the Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Gerenuk antelope and Somali ostrich.

Day 1: Arrival Nairobi
On arrival to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be transferred to the Giraffe Manor, in the outskirts of Nairobi.
In the surrounding, there is a unique juxtaposition of 19th century grace and elegance combined with rustic Africa in the form of a journey of endangered Rothschild’s giraffes.
A great place to rest after your flight and to switch gears into the rhythms of Kenya, Giraffe Manor is a hit with young and old travellers alike.
It is the perfect spot to explore – time permitting – some of Nairobi’s fascinating highlights, like the Karen Blixen Museum and the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage.

Day 2: Nairobi – Fly to Solio Game Reserve
In the morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to Wilson Airport for your flight to the Nanyuki Airstrip in Laikipia. On arrival you will be transferred to Solio Lodge.
The lodge is located in Solio Game Reserve, one of the first private rhino conservancies in Kenya.
The reserve is also one of the most successful breeding projects for these critically endangered, gentle animals who are descended from the days of the dinosaurs.

Day 3: Explore Solio Game Reserve
Not only the proximity of rhinos that makes Solio Lodge so compelling: it also offers very easy game drives with diverse wildlife and sensational scenery around Mount Kenya.
Try your hand at a safari walk, horse riding or mountain biking or get back in the 4×4 for a day trip to Aberdare National Park in the Aberdare mountain range.

Day 4: Solio Game Reserve – Fly to Samburu National Park
Today you charter a flight to SaSaab Camp, which is located on community land owned by the Samburu tribe.
SaSaab takes its inspiration from the Arabic traders who used to barter on Kenya’s shores and has a distinctly Moroccan feel to it.
Samburu is a unique area with additional colorful cultural encounters with these ancient people, you can also seek out the ‘Samburu Special 5’.
These are animals endemic to the region: Grevy’s zebra, the adorable long-necked gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, besia oryx and the Somali ostrich.

Day 5: Explore Samburu National Park
Spend the day exploring Samburu. There are a variety of activities like game viewing astride a camel, led by an experienced Samburu guide.
Camel trekking is an exciting way to get in touch with Africa’s sights, sounds and scents.
Other tantalizing activities include venturing deep into Samburu National Park, visit a traditional Samburu manyatta (village), go market shopping, lie back for stargazing, and hone your photography skills on safari walks.

Day 6: Samburu National Reserve – Fly to Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for the scheduled flight to the Masai Mara.
On arrival at the airstrip, you are met and transferred to the lodge with game viewing en route. After lunch go on a game drive in the rolling grassy hills until sunset in search of African wildlife.
You will encounter elephants, lion, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, African birds, hippo, crocodile, vultures, African birds of prey, wildebeest, Hyena.

Day 7: Discover Masai Mara National Reserve
The Masai Mara is one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. Morning and afternoon 'Spice' game drives are planned. Large mammals are varied, abundant and easy to see.
Residents among the Parks mammals are; Masai Giraffe, Buffalo, Impala, Zebra, Topi, both the Thomson's and Grant's Gazelles. The best Hot Air Balloon rides are available on this day at an additional cost.

Day 8: Masai Mara National Reserve – Fly to Nairobi
After breakfast and a last game drive in the Masai Mara, you will be transferred to the airstrip to catch your flight back to Nairobi.
