Amboseli Sopa Lodge 3 Days 2 Nights Flying Safari Package takes you to Amboseli National Park – one of the most popular National Parks in Kenya located 250 km's from Nairobi.

Amboseli offers an interesting contrast in appearance. It has a somewhat dry and dusty appearance, which can be attributed to the volcanic ash that came out of Mt. Kilimanjaro when it last erupted.

Mt Kilimanjaro, in fact, is located just about 25 miles away. However, in spite of the appearance, there is a continuous supply of water that gets filtered through volcanic rocks from Kilimanjaro melted snow.

These streams flow underground, creating lush green areas, and converge at two clear water springs in the park. Amboseli visitors mainly come to watch the huge herds of elephants.

There are over 900 elephants in the Park. The bull elephants have some of the largest tusks in all of Kenya.

Amboseli wildlife includes the zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, impala, caracal and serval cat, lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, wild dog, and hippo.

There are also over 400 species of birds, including the bee-eater, kingfisher, African fish eagle, marital eagle and pygmy falcon. Visitors can also enjoy excellent views of Mt Kilimanjaro and Meru.

Amboseli Sopa Lodge will be your accommodation and is located in the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro, set on 200 acres of land, not far from where Ernest Hemingway lived whilst writing his novel, "The Snows of Kilimanjaro."

Day 1: Nairobi City Hotel – Amboseli National Park
You are met at your Nairobi hotel. Drive to Wilson airport where you will check in for your flight to Amboseli National Park.

Upon arrival in the Amboseli, you are met by your camp/ lodge guides and driven to the superb accommodation for a splendid lunch.

Check in to your camp/lodge and relax by the poolside with startling views of Mount Kilimanjaro before heading out for an afternoon game drive.

Amboseli National Park supports a wide range of mammals, well over 50 of the larger species, and birds with over 400 species.

African Spice Safaris guests can experience the offerings as well as have the opportunity to view the seasonal Lake Amboseli.

Day 2: Amboseli National Park
Prepare for an early day after requesting for a wake-up call from the previous night to catch the opening of the Mount Kilimanjaro peak.

After a delicious breakfast prepare to enjoy a morning and afternoon game drive in the Amboseli National Park stopping over for lunch at the camp/lodge.

During your wildlife game drives, the snows of Mount Kilimanjaro, white and crystalline, form a majestic backdrop to one of Kenya's most spectacular displays of wildlife – lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, cheetah, buffalo and hosts of plains' game, creating Kenya's most sought after photographer's parades.

There are estimated to be around 650 elephants, one of the largest numbers per square kilometer in all of Kenyan parks and reserves.

Amboseli National Park swamps and springs have encouraged the hippos to stay around.

This morning we drive north through lush tea and coffee estates to The Ark/Mountain Lodge.

Chyulu Hill National Park offers  rolling hills of endless green, great blue skies and spectacular landscape views.

The park is a home to large mammals includes buffalo, bushbucks, elands, elephants, leopards, giant forest hogs, bush pigs, reedbucks and giraffes along with various reptiles and insects.

The Borana Conservancy sits on a stunning topography of rugged savannah across a 91,000-acre landscape. The Conservancy features rare and endangered wildlife.

The reserve is also home to elephants and large predators such as the lion, leopard and cheetah. Masai Mara National Reserve is regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas.

There have been some 95 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles and over 400 birds species recorded on the reserve.

Day 1: Nairobi Arrival
On arrival to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you'll be met and transferred to the Nairobi Tented Camp at Nairobi National Park.

The camp is the first accommodation of any sort to be allowed in Nairobi National Park.  It is also located deep within a riverine forest in the park.

The camp has 8 Traditional Safari Tents with en-suite bathrooms.  After lunch, proceed for an afternoon game drive. Later in the evening, return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 & 3: Nairobi – Fly to Chyulu Hills National Park
After having an early breakfast, you will be transfer to the Wilson Airport for your 20-minute private charter heading to Ol Donyo Wuas Lodge at Chyulu Hills National Park.

On arrival you will be met and driven to the lodge in time for lunch.  During these days, you will have lunch and dinner.

Ol Donyo Lodge is situated between Tsavo and Amboseli, has exclusive access to a quarter of a million acres of one of the few remaining corners of wild Africa, the Mbirikani Group Ranch.

Day 4,5,6 & 7: Chyulu Hills National Park – Fly to Laikipia
After breakfast, you will fly to Nairobi for your connecting flight north towards the equator to Laikipia in a private charter to Borana Ranch where you will be met and taken to the lodge.

 

Borana Lodge has panoramic views over the Samangua Valley and the Lewa Plains to the Ngare Ndare Forest and Mount Kenya beyond.

The lodge set on a hillside overlooking a lake, which attracts herds of elephants, buffalo and often prides of lion. This place is located within the vast area of Ewaso ecosystem on Laikipia Plateau.

With snow-tipped peaks, the glaciers of Mount Kenya to the south, a panorama of mountains, and desert to the north. Borana Lodge provides an idyllic setting for any African experience.

The ranch – 17 miles north of the equator and 6,000 feet above sea level – is free from the malarial mosquito and cool at nights.

Day 8 & 9: Laikipia – Fly to Samburu National Reserve
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for your private charter flight to Shaba. You will be met at Chaffa Airstrip and transferred to Joy’s Camp.

Day 1: Nairobi – Fly to Maasai Mara Game Reserve
On arrival at Kenya's Jomo Kenyatta Airport you will be met by a Sanctuary representative who will transfer you to Wilson Airport for your connection to the Masai Mara.

Your Sanctuary Olonana guide will meet you at the airstrip and drive you to the camp with some great game viewing en route. On arrival relax and freshen up in your tent before lunch is served.

The tents are very spacious and have floor to ceiling mosquito netting, en-suite bathrooms with hot showers, flush lavatories, solar lighting and large, river view verandahs.

The main dining room and veranda commands a dramatic stretch of the Mara River providing the perfect setting for afternoon tea and after dinner star gazing.

As your afternoon game drive comes to an end, drive to a specially chosen vantage point overlooking the Mara plains. Enjoy drinks as you take in the beauty of the rapid sunset coloring the acacia dotted plains before returing to the camp for a delicious dinner.

Day 2: Maasai Mara Game Reserve
This morning after breakfast at the camp venture out led by our expert guides to explore the Mara. The Mara is a fabulous place for seeing big cats and all of the big five, a variety of plains game and over 300 bird species.

The plains offer a rich variety of food for the dominant predators: lion; leopard; hyena and cheetah. Elephants browse amongst the large herds of wildebeest and topi, eland and buffalo, Thomson's and Grant's gazelle.

In the Mara River, hippos submerge to snort and grumble while crocodiles sunbathe, mouths agape, on the riverbanks. From around July to October, there's the greatest show on Earth – the wildebeest migration. Mid-afternoon high tea will be served before your next activity.

During your stay there are a variety of activities that can be booked on request such as a balloon safari.

Day 3: Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Today you might like walk with our naturalist and learn about plants, trees, insects and even how to approach animals on foot, as your guide shows you how to spot animal signs which are everywhere but not that easily noticed.

Or choose from one of the options above. On your last evening drive out into the bush where a private and secluded clearing has been prepared for an elegant dinner in the middle of the wilderness.

The table setting is as sophisticated and elegant as found in the finest restaurants. Candles flicker in the darkness, throwing golden lights on the table cloth as smiling waiters serve a delicious dinner.

After dinner retire to the warmth of the campfire where brandies and liqueurs are served as guests relax and absorb the peace and beauty of an African night.

Day 4: Masai Mara – Fly to Nairobi. Enpane fly to Entebbe, Uganda
After breakfast your guide will transfer you to the airstrip for your flight to Nairobi's Wilson Airport. On arrival you will be met by a Sanctuary Retreats representative who will drive you the short distance to Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where you will be able to enjoy lunch.

Depart late afternoon for your flight to Entebbe, Uganda. On arrival in Entebbe you will be met by a Sanctuary Representative who will transfer you to your Entebbe/Kampala hotel.

Day 5: Entebbe – Fly to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
This morning after breakfast you will be picked up and transferred to Entebbe airport for your scheduled flight to Kihihi airstrip where a Sanctuary representative will meet and transfer you to the camp.

The transfer time is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Gorilla Forest Camp is located within Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is the perfect base for a tracking experience as it offers luxury in the heart of the rainforest. Lunch is served at camp.

In the afternoon you can just relax and take in the fresh air or take a forest walk, which is a nice way to warm up before the Gorilla tracking. Birders come thousands of miles to see the more than 350 species that live within the area.

There are also rare forest elephant, giant forest hog and eleven kinds of primates, such as red tailed and blue monkey, black and white colobus, baboons and chimpanzee.

Day 6: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Early breakfast this morning before a briefing from your guide. Tracking commences every morning from the park headquarters at 8.30 am. The gorillas we track belong to one of the 'habituated' family groups in Northern Bwindi.

For several years each group has undergone an extremely delicate process that has gradually made them used to the presence of humans. Experienced guides will accompany the tracking, many of who have been involved in the habituation process themselves.

Once the gorillas are located, the group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Return to camp for dinner.

Day 7: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Today relax at camp or visit a local village and meet the villagers to learn about their day to day lives. On this walk you can visit a honey production site, a traditional medicine man, a traditional blacksmith, a local school when in term and even attend a Batwa dance performance.

The walk is organised with the local community as part of our community support. Or you could take a bird walk. Bwindi boast over 300 bird species, including 24 that are endemic to these highlands straddling Uganda, Rwanda and the Congo – the "Albertine Rift Endemics".

There are also over 200 species of butterflies found in the park. A local expert will guide you on this fascinating walk. Lunch and dinner at the lodge.

After dinner simply relax and sip a drink as you listen to folk tunes played on the traditional Bakiga guitar.
