\n\tThe tour continues to the Aberdare National Park<\/strong> an area of 767 Km2 covering the higher areas of the <\/span>Aberdare Mountain Ranges<\/span><\/a> of Central Kenya. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe topography is quite diverse with deep ravines that cut through the forested eastern and western slopes. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tWe then move on to Lake Nakuru National Park<\/strong> which is world famous as the feeding ground of both lesser and greater flamingos.<\/span> Ornithologists describe it as "the most fabulous bird spectacle in the world." <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tBesides the more than 400 species of birds that can be seen in the park there are hippos, reedbuck, waterbuck, black rhino, giraffe, lion, leopard, bushbuck also present.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe tour concludes at the Masai Mara National Game Reserve<\/strong> – a magnificent landscape of open plains bisected by the Mara River and its tributaries, and punctuated by marshes and forests.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThis reserve supports the highest density of game to be seen anywhere considering its size. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring the seasonal migrations, the reserve is home to up to a million wildebeest and an equally impressive number of zebra that move into the area from the neighboring Serengeti National Park, in Tanzania. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe reserve is home to all the “Big Five” and it is also possible to observe; baboon, eland, ostrich, bat-eared fox, jackal, and the rivers abound with hippos and crocodiles.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter two nights in Masai Mara the tour continues to Amboseli National Park<\/strong>, home to large herds of elephants whose population is one of the few in Africa that has been spared from poachers. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tPredators in the park include hyenas, jackals; lions, leopards and cheetahs. Bird life in abundance flourishes particularly in the marshes and swamps.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\tThis morning we travel by road to Kenya's northern frontier. Wild and rugged, Samburu is fiercely beautiful with its arid savannahs watered by the lovely Uaso Nyiro River.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tDawn breaks in golden bands as we start our day in the bush by scanning the river from our tent's veranda with a cup of steaming coffee in hand. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tBefore the dew is off the grass, we're off in pursuit of the elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs that thrive in the reserves grasslands and acacia woodlands. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tOur destination today is the Aberdare National Park or Mt. Kenya National Park. We travel overland south from Samburu to The Aberdare Country Club, nestled on the slopes of Mweiga Hill. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tAfter lunch and high tea, set off for the Ark tree lodge, located in the forest on mountain slopes of the Aberdare Mountains at 7,000 feet. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tThis outstanding lodge offers high altitude game viewing, including animals that are rarely encountered elsewhere: giant forest hog, bush pig, tree hyrax, large spotted genet, and the elusive bongo.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tThe game in this park is plentiful and the magnificent bird watching will make a devotee out of even the most reluctant. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tThe Park is a home to stunning flocks of lesser and Greater Flamingos, which literally turn the lakeshores in to a magnificent pink stretch. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tThis morning we drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tThis enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest's migration and is home of the Big Five: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tLunch at our Lodge and relax before departing for the afternoon game run. The Mara Game Reserve-one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tLarge mammals are varied, and easy to see. Residents among the Park's are: Masai Giraffe, Buffalo, Eland and thousand of plain game including Impala, Zebra, Topi, both Thomson's and grants Gazelles.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tThe search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues today during extensive game runs. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tDuring our stay we also have an optional opportunity to visit a village of the Masai people to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tAll the "Big Five" and lots of gazelles, Topi, warthogs, Cheetah, Hyenas and even the rare Rhino might come out of the thicket for you. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tAfter lunch is served you'll have time to relax or enjoy the sun heated swimming pool before leaving for another game drive this afternoon. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Park is a vast expansion of African savanna with a more diverse array of habitats which include open plains, semi desert scrub, woodland, Chyulu Hills and rock outcrops. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIt's famous for the Red Elephants, Oryx, and Gerenuk among other mammal's species and bird life. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tOther notable features include Mzima Springs which are water source for Mombasa Town, Shetani Lava Flow and Ash cones, which is an example of recent volcanic eruption. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tDay 11<\/strong>: Tsavo West – Drive to Tsavo East National Park<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n\tMorning game drive in Tsavo West then return for breakfast and depart by road to Tsavo East National Park. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThere are many interesting aspects in the open areas of Tsavo East not least the spine of the Yatta Plateau, one of the world's longest lava flows. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAn additional attraction is the Athi River flanked by stately doum palms which, near the Manyani gate forms the Lugard Falls, a long stretch of rippling white water cataracts and a favorite haunt for sunbathing crocodiles. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
