\n\tThis morning we travel by road to Kenya’s northern frontier. Wild and rugged, Samburu is fiercely beautiful with its arid savannahs watered by the lovely Uaso Nyiro River. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tI<\/span><\/span><\/span>t is also one of Kenya’s most protected areas and home to species only found north of the equator, from the reticulated giraffe to Grevy’s zebras and Beisa Oryx. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tDay 2: Samburu Game Reserve <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n\tDawn breaks in golden bands as we start our day in the bush by scanning the river from our tent’s veranda with a cup of steaming coffee in hand. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tBefore the dew is off the grass, we’re off in pursuit of the elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs that thrive in the reserve’s grasslands and acacia woodlands. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd so the day is spent in alternating pursuits of exploration in the bush and relaxation in our cozy camp.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\tToday we travel to the exotic Sweetwaters Tented Camp or Porini Rhino Camp in the secluded heart of Ol Pejeta Ranch and Rhino Reserve. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tHere, these magnificent beasts are given sanctuary from those who would take their lives to sell their horns. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\tHere too, the Jane Goodall Institute operates a remarkable Chimpanzee Sanctuary where we meet the primates face to- face. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tOur camp also overlooks one of the busiest waterholes in the area and offers elephant, giraffe and myriad plains game. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThis is Africa as Teddy Roosevelt saw it years ago when he led one of the first safaris to tour Africa in comfort and splendor.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tOur destination today is Lake Baringo.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAs a freshwater Lake it is home to hippos, crocodiles and an abundance of fish and birds, but it does not have flamingoes, as these feed on the algae specific to soda lakes.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite this, it is most famous as an ornithologist's paradise, with 500 bird species, many of which are extremely rare or otherwise only seen in this area. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAn Afternoon boat ride on the lake enables us to view hippos and birds.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tDay 5: Lake Baringo – Lake Nakuru National Park<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n\tToday we travel to the exotic Lake Nakuru National Park located in the Great Rift Valley. After lunch an exciting game run is planned for the afternoon.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe game in this park is plentiful and the magnificent bird watching will make a devotee out of even the most reluctant. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Park is a home to stunning flocks of lesser and Greater Flamingos, which literally turn the lakeshores in to a magnificent pink stretch<\/span><\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe bird life here is world renown and over 400 bird’s species exist here, White Pelicans, Plovers, Egrets and Marabou Stork. It is also one of the very few places in Africa to see the white Rhino and rare Rothschild Giraffe.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tDay 6: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara Game Reserve<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n\tThis morning we drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThis enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest’s migration and is home of the Big Five: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tLunch at our Lodge and relax before departing for the afternoon game run. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Mara Game Reserve-one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. Large mammals are varied, and easy to see.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tResidents among the Park's are: Masai Giraffe, Buffalo, Eland and thousand of plain game including Impala, Zebra, Topi, both Thomson's and grants Gazelles.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues today and tomorrow during extensive game runs<\/span><\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tOn the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring our stay we also have an optional opportunity to visit a village of the Masai people to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tOur destination is Lake Naivsaha Sopa Lodge or Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge or Lake Naivasha country club. <\/span><\/span><\/span>We arrive in time for lunch at our lodge by the lake and early afternoon, we take an optional boat ride.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAlternatively, a nature walk at Crescent Island is an excellent way to see wild animals while on foot. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Island is a private game sanctuary, which is home to zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, Vervet monkeys, hares, genet cats, waterbuck and giraffe. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tOr you may wish to lounge by the pool admiring the view of zebras, Giraffes and waterbuck just outside the fence.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAmboseli is big game country: Lion, Cheetah antelope, Zebra, Wildebeest, buffalo and giraffe.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe afternoon game run is planned to introduce you to intense beauty and drama that fill each day here. Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro – can be seen from all the lodges that ‘African Spice’ uses<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tDay 11: Amboseli National Park<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n\tRising early for good views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit, we set off for another stimulating ‘Spice’ game drive. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAmboseli is an excellent place to view a multitude of wildlife, including everything from Wildebeest to Giraffes to Baboons. <\/span><\/span><\/span> Optional visit to a Masai village is planned after breakfast. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tMasai warriors are famously known as the proud nomadic tribe whose legendary prowess in battle and single-handed acts of bravery in fights with the wild animals are known across the world. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tA visit reveals the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tDay 12: Amboseli – Tsavo West National Park<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n\tOur next stop is Tsavo National Park. The Park is a vast expansion of African savanna with a more diverse array of habitats which include open plains, semi desert scrub, woodland, Chyulu Hills and rock outcrops.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIt’s famous for the Red Elephants, Oryx, and Gerenuk among other mammal’s species and bird life. Movie the Ghost and the Darkness was shot here.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tOther notable features include Mzima Springs which are water source for Mombasa Town, Shetani Lava Flow and Ash cones, which is an example of recent volcanic eruption. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tDay 13: Tsavo West – Tsavo East National Park<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n\tMorning game drive in Tsavo West then return for breakfast and depart by road to Tsavo East National Park. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThere are many interesting aspects in the open areas of Tsavo East not least the spine of the Yatta Plateau, one of the world's longest lava flows. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAn additional attraction is the Athi River flanked by stately doum palms which, near the Manyani gate forms the Lugard Falls, a long stretch of rippling white water cataracts and a favorite haunt for sunbathing crocodiles. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tLugard Falls gush through a small fissure, narrow enough for the foolhardy to leap across, before dropping to Crocodile Point below, where the river changes its name to the Galana.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
