Day 1
Dar-es-Salaam
– Mikumi
National Park
Our
destination today after breakfast in our hotel at
Dar es Salaam is Mikumi National Park. Mikumi National
Park is located south of Dar es Salaam right on the
main Morogoro-Iringa Highway with an approximate travel
time of 4½ hours. The word Mikumi comes after
a local word for Borassus palm trees referred to as
Mikuky. The wildlife viewing experience at Mikumi
National Park can be experienced right upon entering
the park where guests can encounter baboons, zebras
and impalas speedily crossing the road. Other animals
include lion, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest,
giraffe, and elephants. Wild dog can be seen in packs
here.

Day 2
Mikumi
National Park
Today we enjoy a game drive to the
secluded heart of Mikumi
National Park. With 3,230 square kilometers coverage
Mikumi National Park is well-known for its population
of elephants, giraffes buffaloes, zebras, elands,
greater Kudu, wildebeest, roan and sable antelope.
Predators include tree-climbing lions (which are in
large number), leopards, wild hunting dogs and black-backed
jackal.
More than 400 species of birds have been recorded
here including Eurasian migrants such as red billed
ox pecker, marabou stork and lilac breasted roller,
which stays between October and April. There are more
interesting bird species in the Miombo woodland, for
example, Shelley's double collared sunbird, pale billed
hornbill and violet-crested Turaco as well as violet-backed
starling. The surrounding mountain and hills brings
compelling natural beauty with addition to superb
light, make it a wonderful venue for wildlife photographers.
It is common to see elephants, lions and sometimes
giraffes on/along the Tanzania-Zambia highway, especially
in the evening or night. Nowadays leopards are commonly

3
Mikumi
– Udzungwa
Mountains National Park
We
awaken to the sounds of Africa and begin our day with
an early morning game drive in Mikumi then return
to the camp for an English breakfast. Mikumi's vegetation
includes woodland, swamp and grassland with two water
holes, Mkata and Chamgore. Apart from the saddle-bill
stork, hammerkop and malachite kingfisher, you will
also find monitor lizard and a deadly python inhabiting
the pools.
After
Breakfast we depart by road to Udzungwa Mountains
National Park. Udzungwa main physical features include
rolling hills, dissected plateau, waterfalls and an
undulating upland blanketed by a thick rain forest
which colors the area with an ethereal beauty. Variety
of animal species can be found here, including water
buffalo, elephants, leopards and full of reptiles
such as chameleon and snakes. Other animals include
rare primates red colobus, Sanje crested mangabey
monkeys, black and yellow baboon, which live in slopes
of mountain all sharing the same habitation. Udzungwa
National Park is now one of the top ten forests for
bird conservation in Africa.

4
Udzungwa
Mountains National Park –
Drive back to Dar-es-Salaam
After breakfast, take a trekking that
leads to the spectacular trail up to Sanje waterfalls.
From here you will have a view of Kilombero Valley
180m. Back to the lodge for lunch. Afternoon drive
back to Dar es Salaam.
