Days/ 15 Nights Kenya
& Tanzania Flying
Adventure Safari is
a magnificent journey through Kenya and Tanzania, with
luxuriously long stays in each game park, abundant time
for rich wildlife viewing sessions and five flights
to expedite travel from one game park to another.
This
safari is our most comprehensive and perhaps the most
popular safari we offer in East Africa. Beginning the
adventure in Nairobi, our accommodations are at the
Nairobi Serena Hotel. A Safari Briefing
answers all of our questions, while a lecture by respected
Masai Elder sets the stage for the exciting events to
come.
Our stay in Nairobi also affords detailed city sightseeing,
including Giraffe Centre where we may hand feed endangered
Rothschild giraffes, along with a lunch and lecture
at the homestead of Kiambethu Farms, Kenya’s oldest
tea plantation.
We
begin our foray into the bush the following day with
a flight to Amboseli National Park.
Here we see abundant wildlife and the legendary Masai
tribesmen tending their cattle in the shadows of snow-topped
Mount Kilimanjaro.
After
two nights we travel to Tarangire National
Park in Tanzania, a game park with thousands
of majestic baobab trees dotting the rolling countryside.
It is also home to enormous herds of elephants and the
highest number of recorded bird species for any habitat
in the world.
The
Tarangire River runs through the land, providing a permanent
water source, and along with it the promise of strong
wildlife year-round. We next journey to the incomparable
Ngorongoro Crater, a natural caldera spanning
over 100 square miles. This stunning creation of nature
is home to tens of thousands of animals, as well as
numerous Masai tribesmen and their cattle.
We
encounter rhino, elephant, buffalo, leopard and lion,
as well as hippo, zebra and antelope. The stunning vistas
combine with the drama of the world within the crater
to take your breath away. Then comes the vast expanse
of the Serengeti National Park.
This
legendary reserve supports large populations of lion,
leopard and other predators that follow the great migrating
herds. Hippo, elephant, giraffe and a wide variety of
exotic birds are also in abundance. En route to the
Serengeti we stop to tour the museum and view the fossil
beds at the Olduvai Gorge, made famous by the discoveries
of Louis and Mary Leakey.
After
two heady days in the Serengeti, we fly to the Africa
of our dreams, the Masai Mara Game Reserve
in Kenya. Remarkable events are planned in this location.
In addition to rich game drives, we will thrill to the
romance of a bush cocktail party set high upon the Mara
Escarpment at sunset.
A
Masai village visit will also take place—always
a memorable experience—and our nights are spent
in the splendor of a luxury tented camp. And finally,
the lovely Mount Kenya Safari Club
on the slopes of majestic Mount Kenya. This fabulous
hotel is renowned for its refinement and glamorous Hollywood
history, considered one of the safari “musts”
of East Africa.
Fine
dining, exquisitely manicured grounds and gracious hospitality
are hallmarks of a stay at the club. Whether in the
stately main building or along a babbling book, we will
surely find ourselves thrilled with accommodations at
the Club.
Dining
on the Kenya and Tanzania 16 Days/ 15 Nights Stanley
Adventure Safari is also as delightful as you might
imagine. In Nairobi one might sample anything from excellent
Italian cuisine to African game meats at the renowned
Carnivore Restaurant.
In
the game parks, each lodge and camp has its own local
specialties, served with fresh produce from the region.
Luncheons are endless buffets overflowing with colorful
displays of delicious selections, while dinners are
elegantly served and reminiscent of the British colonial
style of dining.
The
breadth and scope of our Kenya and Tanzania 16 Days/
15 Nights Safari encompasses everything for which East
Africa is famous—the magnificent scenery, the
breathtaking wildlife, the excitement and adventure.
And all experienced at a leisurely, luxurious pace,
creating warm memories to relive for a lifetime.
