Days/ 9 Nights Private
Bush Home Kenya Safari is
a luxury holiday featuring privately owned properties
and accommodations in secluded
conservation areas where guests will not have the peace
of the bush destroyed.
The bush homes are run by individuals who know the land,
the people and the wildlife that lives there. This is
the real Africa. Our 10 Days Bush Home Safari begins
with a stay at a Nairobi Bush Home called The
Nairobi Ngong House located on the
outskirts of Langata, on the land once cultivated as
Karen Blixen's coffee estate.
Next
you fly to Cottar’s 1920s Camp -
an award-winning luxury camp as well as Cottars Private
Homestead located in an untouched 250000 acre exclusive
concession bordering the Masai Mara. Cottars Camp Mara
accommodates up to 22 guests in authentic white canvas
tents, which are spacious and luxuriously furnished.
Cottars
Camp in the Masai Mara returns to the original spirit
and essence of 'safari', reminiscent of a golden era
- an era of romance, professional guiding, adventure
and elegance, in a timelessly unspoiled setting with
panoramic views and boundless game.
After
a morning game drive and breakfast we bid farewell to
the Masai Mara and fly to Laikipia Plateau. Our accommodations
are at Lemarti's Camp located in the
30 000 square kilometers of semi-arid northern Kenya
called Laikipia - one of the last relatively undiscovered
frontiers of wildest Africa.
Lemarti's
five luxury tents, which accommodate up to 10 adults
and 18 children, have been lovingly created to immerse
you in this extraordinary patch of Africa. The assortment
of game here is extraordinary and surprising. Formidable
lions, elusive leopards, and cheetahs stalk the savannah.
It’s
a haven for elephants and hippos. And the conservancy
is renowned for its African wild dogs, an increasingly
rare sight outside the region.
Hippo
Point is our last vacation stop - a private
wildlife sanctuary located at 6,200 feet (1,050 metres)
on the idyllic shores of Kenya’s Lake Naivasha.
Here you can enjoy communing with nature in comfort
so that you, your family and friends can reconnect with
yourselves, each other and the extraordinary beauty,
peace and serenity found in this special corner of Kenya.
If you want to get active
there’s plenty of choice at Hippo Point –
Wake up with the sun to witness the serenity and beauty
of the animals grazing in the morning light. Yoga in
our open air “yoga barn” overlooking the
lake, Walk under the yellow fever trees or along flamingo
clad shores with a light mist still on the lake.
Jog with giraffe checking
you out. Brave early morning laps in our 25m pool with
Zebras timing your laps. Mountain bike the nearby hills
or go for a gentle horseback ride. You can even Ski
the big lake with Hippos judging your style.

Cottar’s
1920s Camp, Masai Mara “If you want to track the
safari bloodline, you go to Cottar’s,” states
Travel+Leisure. A short flight and yet another stunning
sojourn, now with Calvin and Louise Cottar as your hosts.
Calvin’s great grandfather was an American who,
inspired by Teddy Roosevelt’s hunting exploits,
moved to Kenya in 1911 and established Cottar’s
Safari Services. The rest is history—nearly 90
years of it.
Cottar’s today is the quintessential deluxe safari
camp, inspired by the halcyon days of African travel.
And who would know better? Scattered throughout the
camp are Cottar family heirlooms, from the Victrola
to the silver tea service.
Each
guest tent, with its own butler, is a luxurious affair
of white canvas replete with antiques, illuminated by
lanterns, offering private en suite dressing rooms and
bathrooms complete with a freestanding tub! Cottar’s
fortuitous position in the Mara—located on a concession
of private land bordering the Serengeti—affords
prolific game drives in the shimmering light of early
morning, golden light of late afternoon or by the sterling
light of the moon.
All
without equal.
Overnight
at Cottar’s 1920s Camp, Masai Mara on a full board
basis (including local beers, soft drinks and wines).

Day 5 to
Day 7: Laikipia
Plateau Lemarti's Camp Considered
by Travel & Leisure as one of the World's Best Tented
Camps, Lemarti’s Camp
is an unforgettable safari hideaway in Kenya’s
breathtaking northern Laikipia Plateau, one of the last
frontiers of virgin wilderness and home to the majestic
Samburu people.
The
twist here is that while the local Samburu community
owns the land, the camp itself was built and run by
a local Samburu guide - Loyapan Lemarti - and his Kenyan-based
fashion designer wife, Anna Trzebinski. This unlikely
duo met on safari - he was her guide - and were later
married.
Their
dream camp emerged, nestled in an oasis in a spectacular
setting beneath a grove of palms and centenary fig trees.
But
what is truly unique about staying at Lemarti’s
Camp is experiencing the "Rites of Passage"
safari that Lemarti has crafted. It is an experience
unparalleled in East Africa today.
No
safari vehicles or armed guards here. Guests quite literally
walk into the wilderness with Samburu warriors armed
only with their traditional weapons, their sharp senses
and generations of knowledge.
These
gentle tribesmen will talk with you about their ways,
connect you with amazing wildlife and take you into
a moment in time that is both authentic and other worldly.
Overnight
at Lemarti’s Camp on a full board basis (including
local beers, soft drinks and wines).

Day
8 & Day 9: Laikipia
– Lake Naivasha
Today
you will board your flight to the Lake Naivasha area.
Hippo Point House was originally
belonging to an Irish magistrate; this magnificent 1930's
Elizabethan house remains a relic of colonial Africa.
Consistently
rated as one of the top retreats in the world, the eight-story
Dodo Tower is one of the most luxurious and less known
of Kenyan hideaways. Custom-built by Dodo Cunningham-Reid
for seasoned romantics, guests are able to enjoy breath-taking
views over Oloidien Bay and follow at eagle-eye the
movements of the hippos grazing at the foot of the Tower.
With
African's Spice Safaris deep knowledge of Kenya, we
are able to organize a whole range of activities from
deep sea fishing, walking and riding safaris, bird shooting,
polo and much more.
The
wildlife sanctuary hosts a large number of zebras, kongoni,
giraffe, impala, Thompson gazelle, waterbuck, baboons,
colobus monkey, vervet monkey, dik-dik, buffalo, aardvark,
as well as more than 600 bird species that have made
lake Naivasha one of the world's most famous lakes for
bird watching.
