Romantic Honeymoon Safari (10
Days / 9 Nights)
A
diverse country, Kenya offers many rewards for the first-time,
as well as the seasoned, safari traveler. Magnificent
wildlife, excellent accommodations and a warm and friendly
population await you. Our Kenya Romantic Honeymoon Safari
takes you to the best safari Parks in Kenya where you
will encounter the greatest concentration of free-ranging
wildlife on earth, explore the customs of the proud
Masai and Samburu tribes and marvel at the magnificent
vistas.
Traveling
by light aircraft affords the maximum time possible
on safari enjoying what you came to this fascinating
continent to experience. After an overnight in Nairobi
you fly over the highlands of Kenya’s northern
frontier and onto the bush country of the Lewa Conservancy.
Situated against the dramatic backdrop of the snow-covered
massif of Mount Kenya and with the magnificent Northern
Frontier District stretching out to the North, Lewa
is an outstanding tourist destination, offering spectacular
scenery, superb game viewing and exciting activities
for the discerning traveler. From Lewa you continue
onto the semi-desert bush country of the Samburu Game
Reserve, home to the Samburu tribe. This region is noted
for the unique species that live here, such as the Grevy's
zebra, gerenuk and reticulated giraffe. The Uaso Nyiro
River runs through the park and guarantees an abundance
of wildlife the year around. The rugged splendor of
this region is accented by the colorful dress and beauty
of the Samburu tribe. These nomadic people allow a glimpse
into their way of life and how they have adapted to
this mysterious and adventurous region.
You
then fly over the Rift Valley to Kenya's most favored
game reserve, the Masai Mara. The park, occupying an
area of 1500 square kilometers, in the south-west of
Kenya, is unfenced but bordered in the west by the Oloololo
Escarpment and in the east by the Ngama Hills. From
the Rift Valley escarpment, to the rolling plains and
the groves of woodlands, the Masai Mara is a vast and
varied landscape. The Mara River bisects this great
reserve and provides a rich habitat along its banks.
Your specially equipped Land Cruiser allows you to drive
off the road in search of the wildlife, enhancing your
safari experience. While in the Mara, you will have
the option to float above the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem
on board a hot air balloon followed by a gourmet champagne
breakfast.

Itinerary
Day
1
Nairobi arrival –
Transfer from Jomo Kenyatta International
Airport to Ngong House
Ngong House is a unique experience:
Tree houses that also offer luxuries like four poster
beds, crisp linen and gourmet food are just the beginning.
Built entirely from wood, each bi-level tree house is
comprised of a bedroom area upstairs and a living area
on the lower floor. Being raised 15 ft from the ground,
they allow for uninterrupted views of the Ngong Hills.
The talents of regional artists and artisans add many
of the finishing touches, such as hand woven rugs, bedcovers,
lamps and stained glass. At the back of the house is
a spacious bathroom with a shower and twin sinks. The
front of the tree house is where you can eat, sleep,
sunbathe or just enjoy the view.
Evenings start with
sundowners on your verandah at tree level, from where
you can watch the breathtaking sunsets over the Ngong
Hills. After sunset guests gather around the camp fire
under an acacia tree nearby the swimming pool. Dinner
is served in a half open thatched rondavel with a huge
fireplace and plenty of candles, creating this unique
dinner atmosphere only found at Ngong House. Kenyan
chefs serve food prepared with local ingredients including
game meat, fresh lake fish, seafood flown in from the
Indian Ocean, complemented by the freshest vegetables
and salads. Lunch is served in the garden under one
of the many indigenous trees.
Ngong House ideally
situated to visit many of Kenya's best attractions:
Nairobi National Park, Karen Blixen Museum, wonderful
golf courses and the market in downtown Nairobi. Nature
walks are a must, especially to visit the Giraffe Center
(home of the endangered Rothchild’s Giraffe),
a twenty minute walk away.

Days 2,
3 & 4
Transfer from Ngong House to Wilson Airport for
a flight to Lewa
Borana
is situated in the north in one of the meandering valleys
of the Laikipia Plateau in the foothills of Mount Kenya.
The six individual cedar and stone thatched cottages
are very spacious, each with a private verandah and
en suite bath and shower facilities. The lodge blends
in with the surroundings as it has been built with rustic
wood furnishings and decorated with Africa fabrics creating
a natural look and feel. There is a central eating and
sitting area: comfy leather sofas surround a huge fireplace
with picture windows looking onto the valley below.
A massive rosewood table in the dining room is where
meals are served by friendly and attentive staff. Borana
is self sufficient in home grown vegetables and dairy
products.
The
lodge offers day and night game drives, walking safaris,
trout fishing and a refreshing swimming pool. Borana
lodge overlooks a dam which fills with the floodwater
flowing off the surrounding hills. It is the local watering
hole for all the wildlife in the area so there is constant
activity for the guests to watch. There is also a game
blind built right on the edge of the dam so that visitors
may go down and see the activity at close range: elephants
swimming is a favorite. There is an abundance of game
in the area including lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo,
giraffe, elephant, hyena, rhino and a large variety
of antelope. The lodge has also raised two orphaned
bush pigs that wander freely around the grounds.
