Island Camp Resort Lake Baringo is located on the island of Ol Kokwe in Lake Baringo approximately 208 kilometers north of the capital Nairobi and in the Great Rift Valley. To the west of Lake Baringo lies the southern end of the magnificent Elgeyo Escarpment and the Tugan hills.

Island Camp Resort Lake Baringo has 16 Lake View rooms (4 spacious superior rooms with private splash pools, 7 deluxe rooms and 5 classic tents). The camp has a swimming pool on top of island with east and west views of lake and the Great Rift Valley; Pool Bar, Main Bar and Dining Room with Lake Views.

Activities include: Boat Excursions with wildlife and bird guides; Nature walks on “Giraffe Island” Ruko Conservatory and water sports. Conference facilities are also available. Wildlife include: Crocodile, monitor lizard, hippo, giraffe, impala, ostrich, rock hyrax, dwarf mongoose, a large variety of reptiles, lungfish, tilapia and catfish. Birds: More than 470 species.

Island Camp Baringo is located on Lake Baringo, one of only two freshwater lakes in the Rift Valley, and one of Kenya’s premier areas for bird watching. Ol Kokwe Island is home to this unique Luxury Tented Camp. Built on a hill, the tents are perched on rocky outcrops or under trees most with view over the lake.

Island Camp Baringo is small, exclusive and remote thus offering a perfect opportunity to escape the humdrum of city life or a change of pace in-between visiting the many National Parks. A chance to relax, recuperate and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of this idyllic island.

All Island Camp Baringo electrical power is supplied by a generator. Water comes from Lake Baringo which is treated by Ultraviolet and Charcoal filters. Island Camp Baringo comprises 23 luxury tents with en-suite bathroom, whether Twin, Double or Triple (for families).

All tents are shaded by a roof of Papyrus (local reeds) and are separated by green lawns and natural rockeries. They overlook Lake Baringo and beyond to the Great Rift Valley. The majority of the Tents face the east to catch the beautiful sunrises across Lake Baringo.

Lake Baringo Island Shore Cruise/ Champagne Breakfast

Island Camp Baringo offers an early morning cruise as the sun comes up across to the Lake Baringo shores to see hippo wallowing in the shallows.

Waterfowl mingle with the basking crocodiles amidst the ringing sound of tree frogs. The trip back includes the spectacle of fish eagles feeding.

An optional extra can include ending your Lake Shore Cruise with a Champagne Breakfast, (where you will be served breakfast on a secluded Island Beach). The staff will cater to your every need while you sip your cold sparkling wine and enjoy the beauty of the early morning.

Lake Baringo Island Camp Sundowner on Gibralter Rock

Lake Baringo Island Camp Sundowner on Gibralter Rock is a short cruise to Lesukut Island and a rocky climb to the top where there is a perfect spot to enjoy a Baringo sunset cocktail.

Here there are excellent opportunities to capture the precision of Fish Eagles feeding while you enjoy a cool drink and watch the sun go down.

Ol Kokwa Island Cruise

Lake Baringo Ol Kokwe Island camp cruise is an early morning cruise around the Island to visit a Njemps village and the hot springs. There is a good chance of sighting crocodile and terrific opportunities for bird watching and photography.
