Kigio
Wildlife Conservancy is a noteworthy 3,500-acre
conservancy between Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha in
Kenya. Kigio Wildlife Conservancy is approximately 120
Kilometers's from Nairobi between Naivasha and Gilgil.
The
sign board is on the right hand side of the road, 0.5
km's before the Gilgil toll station. The Conservancy
gate is 1km from the main road. Kigio Wildlife conservancy
is in Naivasha area, it borders Marula and KARI ranches
in the North lake side.
The beautiful Kigio Wildlife Conservancy with its wide
ranging habitats, from riverine and euphorbia woodlands
to short grass and Leleshwa shrub, holds approximately
3,500 heads of wildlife (including the endangered Rothschild
Giraffe, a 200 strong herd of Buffalo, Impala, Grant's
and Thomson's Gazelle, Eland, Hyena, Leopard, Hippo
and over 250 bird species) which are protected by an
electric fence on three sides and the Malewa River on
one.

Wildlife Conservancy's rich bio-diversity has been recognized
internationally by Tusk Trust, Born Free Trust, Lewa
Wildlife Conservancy and several private donors who
have provided funds to improve the infrastructure in
the conservancy and to help wildlife conservation and
surrounding communities.
The
Conservancy is at the forefront of eco-tourism in the
Rift Valley lakes area. Accommodation is available at
2 new stunning properties - Malewa Wildlife Lodge and
Kigio Wildlife Camp.
Guests
here are not restricted to game drives as they can partake
in complementary game walks, bike rides and fishing
with knowledgeable local naturalists for a superb all-round
safari experience. Night game drives are also possible
and very rewarding.

Wildlife Conservancy Game
Drives
Both day and night game drives are possible
at Kigio Wildlife Conservancy. Daytime game-viewing
focuses on the endangered Rothschild giraffe, plains
game, eland, buffalo, warthog, hyena and the elusive
leopard. Birdlife is exceptional too.
Night
game drives may reveal the aardvark, aardwolf, spring
hare, leopard, serval, genet, hyena and other nocturnal
wildlife.

Kigio Wildlife Conservancy offers delightful
nature walks along the river or on the short grass plains.
Guests have encountered a leopard on few occasions.
Kigio
Camp naturalists are highly knowledgeable
about birds, trees and all the Kigio wildlife which
make the nature walks entertaining. Walks are complimentary
and depart at scheduled times. Numbers are limited per
walk.

There are 7 bikes available for use by
the guests. Bike rides depart at scheduled times, accompanied
by the naturalist. Guests are always delighted with
the experience.

Malewa River has good fishing and rods
are available. We do however recommend that you bring
your own rods.
