Here the Great Rift Valley is at its most impressive, with the Escarpment dropping some 500 metres (1640 feet) down to the flamingo-rimmed shore of the lake.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge; Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is the only lodge in the small yet diverse Lake Manyara National Park. The lodge is located in the remote southwestern region of the Lake Manyara, allowing leisurely tracking of the park's famous tree-climbing lions, and for unimpeded viewing of the flocks of pelicans, flamingoes and buffalo cooling in the soda lake.

Lake Manyara National is Tanzania's smallest Park and is one of the most diverse National Parks in the country. The beautiful Lake Manyara covers two thirds of the Park, while the rest of the Manyara ecosystem consists of steep mountainside, swamps, dense woodlands, open grassy areas and hot springs.

Masai Village Visit in Lake Manyara

Experience the unique culture and fascinating way of life of these tribal people. Guests are invited inside the low traditional homes known as enkaji, made using branches and twigs overlaid with a mixture of soil, cow dung and ash.

Several enkaji are arranged in a circular fashion around a central livestock pen or kraal. Join in a traditional meal of milk and cow meat or sample other Masai delicacies. The Masai women, renowned for their exquisite beaded jewellery, will have a selection of handiworks available for sale.

Exploring Lake Manyara by Bicycle

Guests visiting Lake Manyara Tree Lodge can enjoy a scenic bike ride through the nearby Mayoka community, hosted throughout by an expert &Beyond guide. After a quick game drive to Mayoka, located just 4 km south of the Lodge, you will collect your bicycle and embark on your journey. Cycle through this bustling village and interact with the friendly people.

You might even encounter the nomadic Mang’ati tribe (also known as the Datooga tribe), adorned with traditional animal skin cloaks, skirts and colourful beads. A picturesque bike ride will then bring you to the lakeshore, where you can admire the bright pink flocks of flamingoes.

If the birds are close enough, then strap on some gumboots and walk out to observe and photograph the birds. As they fly overhead, watch the pink cloud as it floats over you. Definitely something for the bucket list! All proceeds from this adventure go directly to the Mayoka community. Maximum of 14 guests.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge has ten tree houses which have been built on stilts, in the boughs of ancient mahogany trees, discreetly tucked away in the forest.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge tree houses have been crafted from local timber and makuti (palm fronds) and feature large open decks and spacious rooms with large windows to invite the flourishing forest into the luxurious elegance of each room. The interiors of Lake Manyara Tree Lodge tree houses are a sumptuous combination of natural fibers, pure cotton linen and contemporary furnishings.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge bedroom consists of four-poster bed-like draping's and earthy, understated accessories in natural colors and textures. Overhead fans and mosquito nets as well as en suite bathrooms with baths and large twin hand basins ensure that every comfort is attended to.

There is an exhilarating outdoor shower while the private verandas have comfortable furniture and offer extensive views of the lovely forest environment. There is a magnificent open-plan guest area with an intimate and cozy atmosphere overlooking the forest boma with enough seating for 20 people.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge has a gleaming; chrome-accessorized interactive kitchen includes guests in the preparation of delicious Pan-African cuisine. In the theatrical boma (reeded enclosure), tandoori ovens produce heavenly cuisine.
