Underwater Safari

From two members to the biggest diving operator on the north coast. Passionate about the sea and very experienced. Teaching diving in French, Italian, German, Dutch, Arabic and Swahili.

We schedule three dives per day and sometimes more during busy seasons. We travel to all our sites by boat, most sites can be reached in twenty minutes.

Each day there is a dive trip to a site within the lagoon, these trips are single dive trips and these sites are suitable for all levels of divers..

PADI Open Water Course
This is the PADI entry level scuba qualification. Completion of this course entitles you to dive independently with your buddy within conditions you have experienced in familiar sites. You will participate in five theory sessions, five pool sessions and four open water dives.

Price Per Person: 395 Euro and includes manual, log book and certification, 4 Open Water Dives.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
An Advanced diver is a diver that has completed three adventure dives of their choice plus the deep and navigation adventure dive. This course concentrates on skill development in the open water environment, theory is minimal and there are numerous exciting skills that can be learnt.

This is an extremely popular course not just because it is so much fun but because the Advanced Diver certification opens up to divers a whole new range of sites that would have been ruled out to them as Open Water Diver.

Day trip Safari to Shimba Hills (Price Per Person: Adult 160 US Dollars & Child 80 US Dollars)

Shimba Hills are a dissected plateau that ascends steeply from the coastal plains, 30 km south west of Mombasa and just south of Kwale town. All hills have view points which offers splendid views over the forested hills and the grass plains, as far as the Indian Ocean and Chale island to the East and the Tsavo plains and Taita hills to the West. The tropical forests of Shimba Hills are a unique habitat for elephants of the Kenyan coast.

The very small park is also the sanctuary of the last breeding herd of indigenous sable antelope in Kenya. This typical sabre-horned antelope is often considered as the most beautiful of the large antelopes.

Other animal species found in the area are, Giraffes, Leopard, Genet, Civet cat, Waterbuck, Bush pig, Buffalo, African Bush Baby, Bushbuck, Coastal Black and white Colobus, Vervet Monkey, Sykes Monkey, Serval cat, Black and Red Shrew

Because vegetation cover is dense and the weather is very hot during the peak hours, animals rest in shades most of the day in the forest and may be hard to see. A visit early in the morning and late afternoon is recommended.

Deep in the national reserve is a spectacular breathtaking 82 foot waterfall with a natural plunge pool. A shower in the cool clean waters of the fall or a dip in the pool is quiet refreshing after the walk.

As you walk following the trail, the ranger or naturalist will educate you on the rich flora and fauna found in the park. You may spot some of those rare butterflies including Acraea aubyni an orange black butterfly that flies slowly.

To descent you have to count 45 minutes and 1 hour to re-turn.

Day trip Safari to Shimba Hills Itinerary
You leave at 6 am from Reef Hotel then a Morning game drive + Visit to the Sheldrick falls. Lunch at Shimba Hills Lodge. Afternoon game drive then return back to Reef Hotel Mombasa.

Visit to Haller Park
Formerly known as Bamburi Nature Trail until 1999, Haller Park is a unique ecological restored quarry situated on the North Coast of Mombasa along the Mombasa Malindi road, next to the Bamburi Cement factory.

Open to the public for the last 21 years, the Nature Park Sanctuary is home to a variety of plant and animal species that serve as attractions to local and international visitors from all walks of life.

Visitors have the unique opportunity of close up contact with the variety of animal species, through our educational guided tours tailored to their requirement. Professional tour guides conduct these tours in English, French, German, Italian or Swahili.

The attractions to be found in this Coastal Sanctuary include a Crocodile Farm, Reptile Park with a rich variety of snake species, beautiful serene Palm Garden and Game Sanctuary. Watch Sally, Potty and Cleo, our renown hippos, feed at the Game Sanctuary at 4.00pm daily. Enjoy the opportunity of feeding the Rothschild giraffes at the feeding platform every day at 11.00am and 3.00pm.

Experience the miracle of this rehabilitated quarry at the Coast and get away from the heat of the beach or the bustle of town to Bamburi's Ark.
