Itinerary
Day
1
Nairobi
Arrival
Arrive at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International
Airport in the evening, where you will be met by
the warm, smiling face of your private African Safari
guide who will transfer you to Ngong House, where
you may have a light snack before settling in for
the night. During your first night in Africa, you
will probably awaken to the peculiar, electrifying
call of a territorial male tree hyrax! In fact,
these furry brown creatures that look like giant
guinea pigs are the closest living relatives to
the elephant! Enjoy your first night in Africa!
Overnight at Ngong House (including
local beers, soft drinks and wines).

Ngong House
Ngong
House lies
on the outskirts of Langata, on the land once cultivated
as Karen Blixen's coffee estate. Paul Verleysen,
the charming owner, had the concept of a private
home that would also offer exclusive and personalized
service to a small number of guests. His creation
complies perfectly with the self-imposed brief and,
in addition, offers the ultimate luxuries of space,
light and true style.
Accommodation comprises five wooden houses raised
on stilts with peerless views of the misty Ngong
Hills and the surrounding countryside. There is
also a further bedroom within the attractive original
house. The furnishings and decorative artifacts
are with very few exceptions, resolutely sourced
within Africa, and primarily Kenyan. The furniture
may be constructed from camphor wood, which mellows
to a rich dark patina with age, or perhaps, romantically,
made from hardwood sleepers from the old Mombasa-Nairobi
Railway. Each "tree-house" has its own
spirit and ambience.
The beautifully intricate hand-carved furniture
of Lamu features in one, whereas another features
a clear and tranquil blue combined with the strong
lines of wrought iron pieces. Generous four-poster
beds grace the upper-level bedrooms, crisp cottons
and feather pillows promise a luxurious nights sleep.
On the lower level the spacious living area has
a large sofa to sink into, comfy chairs and an intimate
dining area. The veranda is the ideal place from
which to bask in the sun, take afternoon tea, observe
the teeming bird life or gaze into the sunset. The
cuisine is of the highest quality, imaginatively
prepared using mouthwatering fresh ingredients.
Meals may be served in the elegant dining room,
under the shady trees, or in the covered yet open-sided
dining area in the gardens in which a roaring fire
is lit on chillier evenings. Enormous care is taken
with presentation; flowers, hand-made glasses and
beautiful plates with rich glazes glow by the soft
light of many candles. It’s a truly inspirational
place.
Days 2,
3 & Day 4
Nairobi –
Maasai Mara Game Reserve.
Overnight at Ol
Seki Mara Camp
After breakfast you will be transferred to Wilson
Airport for your scheduled flight to the Maasai
Mara. Olseki Mara Camp is located just north of
the Maasai Mara Game Reserve in an area not frequented
by the masses of tourists. The camp itself is on
a beautiful rocky promontory, overlooking the Ol
Sabukioi River with panoramic views of the surrounding
area teeming with game. The tents are extremely
tasteful, very spacious, concentrating on canvas,
wood and neutral safari colors. Each day is different
and depends entirely on what you wish to do. You
can walk all day meeting a bush breakfast and picnic
lunch; track wildlife; game drive at first light
or at night; a balloon safari; or a day fishing
visit to Lake Victoria. You will encounter an expanse
of wildlife, varied vegetation, fantastic bird life
and an unforgettable experience of being at one
with nature in the Maasai Mara. The opportunity
to see the enormous elephant, buffalo, rhino and
hippo is abundance.
Overnight at Olseki Mara Camp on
a full board basis (including local beers, soft
drinks and wines).

Days
5, 6 & Day 7
Maasai
Mara – Laikipia Plateau. Overnight at Lewa
Wilderness Camp
On your last morning in the Mara,
you will take a scheduled flight to Lewa Downs airstrip.
Upon arrival, your guide will take you to one of
Kenya’s early ranches - Lewa Downs. This ranch
has been home to the Craig family since they moved
from Scotland and began raising cattle in 1924.
Lewa Downs is one of very few private ranches in
the world where such a remarkable variety of wildlife
interacts with each other in their natural habitat.
To see and photograph the animals, you may go on
walks, horseback or camel expeditions or day and
night game drives in custom, open-top vehicles.
Lewa’s first class game experiences, superb
accommodations and guides never fail to impress
everyone!
Overnight at Wilderness Trails on
a full board basis (including local beers, soft
drinks and wines).

Days
8 & 9
Laikipia – Manda Island, Lamu. Overnight
at Manda Bay Beach Resort
After breakfast you will connect on a scheduled
flight to Nairobi and then on down to Manda Island,
where you will spend the last three days of your
Safari at Manda Bay! Manda Bay Resort is a small
private lodge on Manda Island in northern Kenya’s
Lamu Kiwayu archipelago. Ten spacious cottages line
the beach overlooking the calm waters of Manda Bay.
Manda Bay Resort is on a secluded peninsular, close
to ancient Lamu Town and neighboring Shela but far
enough away from the bustle to enjoy total privacy.
Surrounded by magnificent coral gardens, empty beaches
and indigenous woodland. One of the best ways to
explore this incredible archipelago is under sail
on Utamaduni, our beautiful 62 foot sailing dhow.
Utamaduni is a Kiswahili word meaning way of life
or culture. Manda Bay is a water sports paradise.
Its sheltered mangrove creek and the calm waters
are ideal for water skiing. Guests can ski at high
tide, yet just outside the creek there is generally
enough breeze for sailing, wind-surfing and kite-surfing.
Overnight at Manda Bay Beach Hotel
on a full board basis (including local beers, soft
drinks and wines).
