    The name Serengeti comes from the Masai language, meaning 'endless plains'. Serengeti National Park vast rolling grasslands support hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra as well as buffalo, elephant, giraffe and many gazelle and antelope species.

    The Serengeti's Great Migration: Throughout the year huge herds of wildebeest and zebra move in a clockwise direction around the vast plains, searching for fresh grazing grounds.

    When you tire of gazing at grazers, head to Moru Kopjes to mingle with rhinos or to the Retina Hippo Pool to watch these massive mammals splash about.

    En route we stop at Olduvai Gorge, the “cradle of mankind,” where the Leakey family uncovered the fossil of Homo habilis, who lived 1.75 million years ago.

    1300 Hours: We arrive at the Nabi Gate the entrance to Serengeti National Park where we have our lunch boxes.

    1400 Hours: We proceed on a game drive en-route to our accommodations. Serengeti National Park is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequalled for its natural beauty and scientific value.

    With more than two million wildebeest, half a million Thomson's gazelle, and a quarter of a million zebra, it has the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa.

    The wildebeest and zebra moreover form the star cast of a unique spectacular – the annual Serengeti migration.

    Aside from the wildebeest migration, you will see a huge population of large mammals, including giraffes, baboons, elephants, hippos, and, of course, lions.

    You'll also come across more than 500 species of birds, most notably, ostriches.

    1800 Hours: We arrive at our accommodations.

    Day 3: Full Day in The Ngorongoro Crater – Drive to Arusha/ Moshi
    0600 Hours: Today you will head out into the early morning mist and make the 2000-foot descent into the crater.

    Explore the distinct areas of forest, lakes and open grassland on a half day game drive during which you can hope to spot wildlife including the Big Five, cheetah and hyenas.

    0900 Hours: Picnic Breakfast at the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater.

    Ngorongoro Crater is inhabited by about 30,000 animals, of which half are zebra and wildebeest. The crater also has hyenas, lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, hippo, bull elephants, buffalo, Grant's and Thompson's gazelles.

    The salt-whitened shores of Lake Magadi are turned a pastel pink from thousands of flamingoes sifting algae and shrimps from this soda lake.

    The lake also attracts a myriad other water birds including avocets, plovers and black-winged stilts etc

    1300 Hours: We enjoy our packed lunch at the floor of the crater and continue with our game drive.

    0730 Hours: Depart Arusha or Moshi by road to Tarangire National Park. The Distance from Arusha is 130 Kilometers while from Moshi is 210 Kilometers.

    1000 Hours: Arrive at the park and proceed on a game drive. Wildlife to be seen include Elephants, famous tree-climbing pythons, leopards, Zebra, Giraffe, Dik Dik and Ostrich and different species of birds can be seen.

    1300 Hours: We arrive at your accommodations in time of lunch. After lunch relax before the afternoon game drive.

    With a permanent water source, the park is virtually guaranteed enormous herds and excellent game viewing including cheetah, lion (some tree-climbing!), leopard and hyena and a herd of 3,500 elephants.

    0800 Hours: After breakfast at your hotel in Tarangire we travel to the Lake Manyara National Park.

    The drive from Arusha to Lake Manyara takes about 2.5 hours and we shall cover about 130 kilometers.

    1100 Hours: We arrive at the park and proceed on a game drive.

    The beautiful Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania is noted for its beauty and incredibly lush acacia forest of giant fig and mahogany trees, which are home to troops of baboons and blue monkeys.

    The park is also home to a large numbers of buffaloes, antelopes, zebras, hippos and crocodiles, giraffe and a high density of elephants.

    Lake Manyara National Park is particularly known for its tree-climbing lions, which may be seen sleeping off the heat of the day on a branch instead of a shady spot on the ground like most other lions.

    1300 Hours: We enjoy our box lunch at a picnic site.

    1400 Hours: We proceed for the afternoon game drive.

    Apart from  tree climbing lions, the park is also famous for its elephant, huge number of baboons and due to its varied landscape has an impressive range of other game including wildebeest, buffalo, hippo, flamingo, zebra, warthog, waterbuck, dik-dik and impala. 

    The birding here is very good, especially raptors. You can also see pelicans, storks, kingfishers and many other birds. It is also a famous jungle, where early Tanzanian movies were filmed.

    1400 Hours: Afternoon continue with our game drive. Lake Manyara is one of the very few places in Africa to see tree-climbing lions, which we may declare our day’s quest, being so thoroughly sated with the big herds of preceding parks.

    The tree climbing lions are the park’s main attraction.  Why these lions habitually climb trees is still up for debate but viewing a pride relaxing in an acacia tree is an incredible site.

    The rivers and lakes of the Selous are the lifeblood of a park that hosts some fabulous game, including elephant, wild dog, buffalo, hippo, crocodile and fantastic prides of lion.

    The park is named after Englishman, Frederick Courtney Selous – conservationist, hunter, explorer and author, whose adventure books on Africa became best sellers in Victorian England.

    Home to some of Africa's best walking, boat safaris and fly camping trips, the Selous has the greatest diversity of safari activities of all the Tanzanian safari parks. 

    The boating safaris in particular really set this reserve apart from other Tanzanian parks.  The fact that the Selous is so much quieter (in visitor terms) than the majority of the rest of the country just adds to its attraction.

    Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania is bigger than Switzerland and has the largest population of elephants in Africa. Lion are particularly strong here and there are large numbers of leopard. 

    The wildlife in the Selous is particularly interesting as it attracts both east and southern African wildlife, both resident and migratory, and over 440 known species of birds. 

    The park is home to over 50% of the remaining endangered African wild dog, and also hosts very good populations of buffalo, giraffe, eland, hyena, sable, hippo, crocodile, kudu, baboon, wildebeest, zebra, impala, hartebeest, colobus and vervet monkeys along with over 450 species of bird.

    Fishing Trip: Fishing can be done on the Rufiji River.

    Bird Watching: There are more than 400 different species of birds recorded in the Selous.

    Hot Springs & Selous Grave: There are several Hot Springs hidden within the Beho Beho Hills and surroundings in the Selous Game Reserve.

    Cultural Visits: You can visit a local village on the outskirts of the Selous Game Reserve, and walk around on the farms, seeing the different crops planted by the villagers.

    Selous Game Reserve Game Drive Safaris: Game Drives are the ideal way to see more of the Selous and its many different types of wildlife.

    The Game Drives are usually extended and taken in open sided 4×4 vehicles. Half way through the day we stop somewhere scenic for a well earned picnic lunch.

    Boat Cruises (2 to 3 Hours): Are quite a unique experience – the Selous is one of the very few game reserves in Africa where you can view game from the water and you have a much higher chance of seeing a larger variety of wildlife inside the Reserve than outside.

    The boat trips allow you to watch animals come down to drink and enjoying the wonderful variety of bird life.

    Game Walks: Are probably the most fascinating way to truly experience the wonders of Selous.  Out of the 4WD vehicle and being on foot is a humbling experience in this vast, untouched land. 

    Set at a leisurely pace, the walks are not intended to find big game; instead it offers guests an education into the lives of the smaller animals as well as the birdlife, insects, flora and fauna.

    Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Drive to Selous Game Reserve
    0700 Hours: Your Selous Game Reserve 3 Days Road Safari Tanzania Tour starts with a pick up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam by our guide.The drive will be through some of the most scenic parts of Southern Tanzania.

    1200 Hours: There will be a pause to have a picnic lunch on the way as you enjoy the scenic drive to Selous Game Reserve. (Travelling time some 6 – 7 hours).

    1500 Hours: Upon arrival in Selous Game Reserve you will checkin to your lodge and then proceed for a boat trip to Rujiji River where crocodiles, hippos and grazing game can be seen.

    We frequently surprise buffaloes and elephants on the banks, while we vie with the hippos for right-of-way. Rujiji River is especially rich in birds. These include fish eagles, herons, egyptian geese, myriad of storks, bee eaters, kingfishers.

    1800 Hours: We return back to our accommodation for the night.

    Day 2: Full Day in Selous Game Reserve
    0800 Hours: After breakfast depart for a full day game drive with packed lunch in the Selous Game Reserve named after the explorer Frederick Selous.

    The Selous Game Reserve is the largest protected wildlife reserve, a UN World Heritage site and a pristine uninhabited area larger than Switzerland.

    The topography of the park varies from rolling savannah woodland, grassland plain and rocky outcrops cut by the Rufiji River and its tributaries.

    The wildlife in the Selous is particularly interesting as it attracts both east and southern African wildlife, both resident and migratory, and over 440 known species of birds. Lion are particularly strong here and there are large numbers of leopard.

    3 Days Mikumi National Park Southern Tanzania Safari Tour is a short tour from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania by road to Mikumi National Park – one of the spectacular southern circuit National parks of Tanzania.

    A good surfaced road connects Mikumi to Dar es Salaam via Morogoro, a roughly 4 hour drive. Explore the landscape and wildlife of Mikumi which is often compared to that of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.

    Mikumi National Park abuts the northern border of Africa's biggest game reserve – the Selous – and is transected by the surfaced road between Dar es Salaam and Iringa.

    The park is well-known for its population of elephants, giraffe’s buffaloes, zebras, elands, greater Kudu, wildebeest, roan and sable antelope. Predators include tree-climbing lions (which are in large number), leopards, wild hunting dogs and black-backed jackal.

    More than 400 species of birds have been recorded in Mikumi National Park including Eurasian migrants such as red billed ox pecker, marabou stork and lilac breasted roller, which stays between October and April.

    There are more interesting bird species in the Miombo woodland, for example, Shelley's double collared sun bird, pale billed hornbill and violet-crested Turaco as well as violet-backed starling.

    The surrounding mountain and hills brings compelling natural beauty with addition to superb light, make it a wonderful venue for wildlife photographers.

    It is common to see elephants, lions and sometimes giraffes on/ along the Tanzania-Zambia highway, especially in the evening or night. Nowadays leopards are commonly seen.

    Mikumi Wildlife Game Drives: The Mikumi National Park has a big wildlife population where you will definitely see the “Big Five”.

    Many mammals include yellow baboon, vervet monkey, sykes monkey, lion, elephant, rhino, giraffe, zebra, eland, buffalo, greater kudu, bushbuck, waterbuck and Lichtenstein’s hartebeest.

    Mikumi Bird Watching : More than 400 bird species have been recorded, with such colorful common residents as the lilac-breasted roller, yellow-throated long claw and bateleur eagle joined by a host of European migrants during the rainy season.

    Udzungwa National Park: Mikumi is also a great base for exploring the road-free Udzungwa National Park an hour away – in fact, the only real option since there is no accommodation in the park.

    Here you'll find some extremely rare birds, several endemic species of monkey (including the sanje-crested mangebey and the red hehe colobus) and some wonderfully adventurous rainforest hikes to waterfalls and panoramic 2,000m viewpoints

    Day 2: Full Day in Lake Mikumi National Park
    Today we spend the day on 2 game drives in Mikumi National Park. The Park provides an excellent opportunity to view diverse number of animals and birds in short period of time without too much of driving around.

    The wildlife viewing experience at Mikumi National Park includes baboons, zebras and impalas. It is easier to spot a tree-climbing lion in Mikumi National Park than to spot them at Lake Manyara National Park.

    African Spice guests also have the opportunity to view the unique Mikumi Giraffes that naturalists say seem to be a cross between the reticulated and Masai giraffes.

    You will also visit the hippo pool, which is best visited during the late afternoons as the distant setting sun and the bobbing hippo heads create perfect pictures.

    After spotting the wallowing buffalos at the Mkata Flood Plains and elephants congregating near the water hole, return back to the camp for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

    3 Days Mwanza Serengeti National Park Tanzania Safari: This is a short 2 nights wildlife trip from Mwanza Tanzania to the famous Serengeti National Park by road.

    Our 3 days road trip safari from Mwanza approaches the Serengeti National Park from the western corridor.

    Serengeti National Park is huge – it is broadly divided into four distinct areas – the central Seronera Valley, the Western Corridor, the Northern Lobo and Kogatende areas, and finally the Southern Plains.

    Mwanza is Tanzania’s second-largest city and is set on Lake Victoria’s shore. Serengeti National Park Ndabaki Gate is about 140 km northeast of Mwanza along the Mwanza – Musoma road and gives direct access to the Western Corridor.  

    The drive from Ndabaka to Seronera which is central Serengeti takes about 3 hours.

    The western corridor of the Serengeti landscape is more wooded and it is common to see giraffe, elephants, zebra, impala, topi, ostrich, hipo, waterbuck and many smaller animals. 

    Then we drive to the central Serengeti which is a large plain and full to tall grass. Here we find the big cats such as lion, leopards and cheetah.  If the time is right, the wildebeest migration is incredible to see. 

    The Serengeti is the mother of all safari parks and the most celebrated wildlife reserve in the world.

    Renowned for its incredible concentrations of predators and the Great Migration of 2 million wildebeest, the Serengeti guarantees an exceptional safari.

     Serengeti National Park Highlights | What to Do and See

    Serengeti Visitor Center: The Serengeti Visitor Centre is worth a stop for its self-guided walking path that provides informative signs and exhibits about the history of the Serengeti, its ecosystem, and its wildlife.

    The Serengeti's Great Migration: Throughout the year huge herds of wildebeest and zebra move in a clockwise direction around the vast plains, searching for fresh grazing grounds.

    Witnessing the migration in the Serengeti is really as good as it gets in terms of your Tanzania Safari.

    Serengeti daytime game drives:  The main attraction here is the wildlife. Serengeti National Park houses a huge population of large mammals, including giraffes, baboons, elephants, hippos, and, of course, lions.

    You'll also come across more than 500 species of birds, most notably, ostriches. When you tire of gazing at grazers, head to Moru Kopjes to mingle with rhinos or to the Retina Hippo Pool to watch these massive mammals splash about.

    Serengeti Balloon Safaris: There are no words that can do the experience of floating over the Serengeti justice." Get a birds-eye view of the park as you rise alongside the sun.

    The flight lasts about an hour, after which passengers gather round a table, surrounded by the park's lush plains, for an "Out of Africa" English-style breakfast.

    Day 1: Mwanza – Drive to the Serengeti National Park
    0800 Hours: Leave Mwanza City after breakfast and drive to the Serengeti National park.

    1000 Hours: We arrive at Ndabaka Serengeti gate in the western corridor. Proceed on a game drive as we head to the central circuit of the Serengeti called Seronera.

    With more than two million wildebeest, half a million Thomson's gazelle, and a quarter of a million zebra, the Serengeti has the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa.  

    The predator viewing here is exceptional with approximately 3000 – 4,000 lion and huge numbers of cheetah, leopard and hyena.

    1300 Hours: We enjoy our packed lunch boxes at one of the picnic sites.

    1400 Hours: The afternoon is spent on a game drive where we are likely to see topi, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, elephant, caracal, serval, bat-eared fox, hyrax, hippo and genet.

    Other animals include hares, porcupine, aardvark, giraffe, jackal, mongoose, crocodile, monitor lizard, aardwolf, many kinds of primates including baboons, vervet and colobus monkeys, and over 500 species of bird.

    Visit Seronera area where you might see Leopard, Lion, Spotted Hyenas, Cheetahs and many plain animals like Buffaloes, Topi, Hartebeest, Wildebeest, Waterbucks, Elands, zebras, Gazelles, warthogs etc.

    Day 3: Serengeti  National Park – Drive back to Mwanza
    0630 Hours: Early breakfast then depart our lodge/ camp with picnic lunch boxes. Today we spend the day on game drives searching for wildlife.

    Commonly found in the park, apart from the wildebeest and zebra, are various types of antelope. many herds of Thompsons and grants gazelle.

    Small herds of cape buffalo, topi and waterbuck, as well as Masai giraffe are normally seen. Families of warthog are a common sight. Hyena jackal and lion are regularly sighted, often resting in the shade.

    Lion sightings can be either solitary males , or large prides of lioness together with their cubs. Lions tend to hunt between dusk and dawn.

    1300 Hours: We enjoy our packed lunch boxes at one of the picnic sites. Later proceed on a game drive. Cheetah can often be spotted out on the open plains particularly in the morning or late afternoon, when temperatures are not too high.

    They rely on daylight and speed to catch their prey. Leopards, because of their generally nocturnal hunting habits, are not often spotted but when seen are usually found asleep or lounging in the branches of their favorite tree.

    Groups (or pods) of hippo are found in the bigger pools and rivers. Crocodiles are sometimes seen sunning themselves on the riverbanks. Vervet monkeys and baboons are the most common type of primate seen around the park.

    1600 Hours: We exit the park then drive back to Mwanza

    1800 Hours: Arrive back in Mwanza
