Mbudya Island is an isolated marine reserve, popular among the tourists and residents alike. Most people prefer to visit Mbudya for picnics and day trips as it is 30-40 minutes away from the city of Dar es Salaam.

0800 Hours: Our tour begins with a pick up from your hotel/ residence in Dar-es-salaam after breakfast and a 40 minute drive to Masaki or to the hotels in Whitesands area.

The Island lies close to the beach resort and fishing community of Kunduchi. Mbudya is an uninhabited Island in Tanzania, north of the country's capital city, Dar es Salaam and is one of the four islands of the Dar es Salaam Marine Reserve.

You will take a thrilling motorboat ride (in a 15-seater small wooden boat) crossing from the mainland to Mbudya Island (or simply Mbudya). A glass bottom vessels are also available upon request.

Activities available here include relaxing, snorkeling with fish, corals and aquatic life to explore, swimming in clear blue water, sunbathing and exploration of the pristine beach.

Dar-es-Salaam Cultural Day Tour Gezaulole Village is a full day guided excursion to the village of Gezaulole situated on the coast, south of Dar es Salaam, 13 km's (a 30-minutes drive) from the ferry at Kigamboni. Experience village life and enjoy the quite beach.

Gezaulole Village has a pristine, white beach with views over the sea and islands dotting the blue ocean. Our day tour offers a glimpse into a typical Tanzanian village life.

Gezaulole village was a Zaramo settlement, the tribe which has been living along this part of the coast for many centuries.

They gave the village the name Gezaulole, which means ‘Try and See’ in the Kizaramo language. In the 16th Century, Arab settlers came and used the convenient location of the village to carry out their trade.

The village thus became a destination for caravans carrying ivory, hides and slaves, who would be shipped to Zanzibar and beyond.

They renamed the village ‘Mbwamaji’, a name it kept until the 1970’s, when the village was chosen as one of the first settlements under the Ujamaa – policy.

People from different places in Tanzania were relocated in order to create concentrated agricultural areas. Again the name Gezaulole was given to the village: the new inhabitants had to ‘Try and See’ how they could develop their lives.

Village Life and Handicrafts: While walking around the village you will see how the locals live and earn their daily bread. Most likely you will be astonished to see how many handicrafts we produce. Tie & die woodcarvings, pottery, mats and baskets.

The guides will show you the agricultural areas of Gezaulole, Mwera and Kizani. They will explain everything about cattle, crops, fruits and trees that are growing in Gezaulole. Women are ready to paint traditional figures, with locally grown henna extract, on visitor’s skin. 

Historical Places and Beach Walk: Take a guided walk to Mbwamaji, the historical original village on this part of the coast. Visit a 400 year-old mosque, the slave depot from where slaves were transported to other continents and old Muslim graves – a testimony to a long history.

A walk on the beach here you will see fishermen sailing up and down in their traditional boats – dhows, bringing the catch of the day which includes fish, octopus, lobster and other seafood.  Women are wading in the water and harvesting seaweed.    

Trip on a local dhow: With the power of the wind the dhow will bring you to beautiful spots for snorkeling. Underwater life with its colors and movements is fascinating. A trip to the unspoiled and uninhabited island of Sinda in the blue Indian Ocean is unforgettable.

It is located near the equator, 60 km's (37 mi) west-northwest of Kisumu, the former Nyanza provincial capital.

The population of Nyangoma-Kogelo is 3,648. Since 2006, the village has received international attention because it is the hometown of Barack Obama, Senior the father of retired United States President Barack Obama. Barack Obama, Senior is buried in the village.

Some of their family members, including his paternal step – grandmother Sarah Onyango Obama, still live in the village. Because of its connection with the American president, the village is expected to be visited by many tourists from the US and other countries.

Nyangoma Kogelo Village Kisumu Cultural Day Trip Itinerary

0830 Hours: Depart Kisumu in the morning after breakfast at your residence/ hotel and take the Kisumu/ Busia road. You will reach Maseno University gate and proceed 150 meters from the Maseno University gate to the Equator Line Point.

After a photographic session on the Equator line, you will proceed to Luanda town then divert to the left heading straight to Ngiya market. If you arrive on a Tuesday, then you will be lucky to have a glimpse of the market day at Ngiya.

You then proceed and divert onto the left just before you reach Mbeji Academy onto the Murram road. You will then take about 15 minutes before you arrive at the Kogelo Dispensary on your right.

After a visit of the dispensary proceed to the Kogelo market, Kogelo primary school and Senator Barack Obama Secondary School. You will then enter Sarah Obama’s home behind the secondary school.

Kogelo is the ancestral home of Barack Obama, Sr., the father of retired United States President Barack Obama. Barack Obama, Sr. is buried in the village. Some of their family members, including his paternal grandmother Sarah Anyango Obama, still live in the home.

In the home, Sarah Obama’s home; you will find both the grave sites for Barack Obama Sr. and his father’s. you will also find in the homestead Sarah’s house, the security tents, visit the vegetable garden, the cattle Boma and sit under the big mango trees where Sarah usually have interviews with visitors.

After the visit, you will proceed to Siaya town and onto Yala Swamp before you cross the River Yala and onto Bondo district and then back to Kisumu city.

Day 1: Nairobi Fly to Amboseli National Park
0630: This morning after breakfast at your hotel/ residence in Nairobi we transfer to Wilson Airport for our scheduled flight to Amboseli National Park.

0730 Hours: Fly to Amboseli Airstrip located inside Amboseli National Park.

0805 Hours: Upon landing, you will be met by our professional safari driver guide and proceed for a morning game drive looking out for elephant, buffalo, impala, lion, cheetah, hyena, giraffes, zebra, wildebeest among other African animals.

There is also a host of birds, both large and small, to see if you keep your eyes open and stop at every sighting.

1230 Hours: We arrive at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge for lunch. Later we settle in relax and explore Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge.

1500 Hours: We enjoy a cup of tea/ coffee or hot chocolate with some home made biscuits/ cake as we get ready for the afternoon game drive.

1530 Hours: Embark on the afternoon game-drive.  Amboseli National Park is known for its large herd of over 900 free-ranging elephants.

Enjoy the views of Mount Kilimanjaro, visit the observation Hill, which overlooks the park, swamps and, of course, the herds of free-roaming elephants.

Later we meet the Masai people and learn about the Masai culture and their indigenous lifestyle.

Full day to enjoy Africa at its best – countless wildlife encounters through open plains punctuated with flat-topped acacia trees. Enjoy the famed Amboseli National Park located at the foot of Africa's highest mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro.

The snow-capped peak of the mountain dominates every aspect of the park, providing the ultimate photo backdrop.

Lions can easily be found and can occasionally be watched stalking their prey. Buffalo, cheetah, gazelle, hyena, jackal, wildebeest, zebra, and baboon are just some of the animals that can be encountered at Amboseli.

Day 1: Nairobi Fly to Amboseli National Park
0630: This morning after breakfast at your hotel/ residence in Nairobi we transfer to Wilson Airport for our scheduled flight to Amboseli National Park.

0730 Hours: Fly to Amboseli Airstrip located inside Amboseli National Park.

0805 Hours: Upon landing, you will be met by our professional safari driver guide and proceed for a morning game drive looking out for elephant, buffalo, impala, lion, cheetah, hyena, giraffes, zebra, wildebeest among other African animals.

There is also a host of birds, both large and small, to see if you keep your eyes open and stop at every sighting.

1230 Hours: We arrive at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge for lunch. Later we settle in relax and explore Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge.

1500 Hours: We enjoy a cup of tea/ coffee or hot chocolate with some home made biscuits/ cake as we get ready for the afternoon game drive.

1530 Hours: Embark on the afternoon game-drive.  Amboseli National Park is known for its large herd of over 900 free-ranging elephants.

Enjoy the views of Mount Kilimanjaro, visit the observation Hill, which overlooks the park, swamps and, of course, the herds of free-roaming elephants.

Later we meet the Masai people and learn about the Masai culture and their indigenous lifestyle.

1830 Hours: Return to Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge is situated within Amboseli National Park, which lies approximately 270 km's from Nairobi via Emali and 280 km's via Namanga town close to the Tanzanian border. By road, Amboseli Serena takes approximately 4.5 hours from Nairobi.

By air, the lodge is only 35 minutes from Nairobi Wilson Airport. Amboseli Airstrip is 11 km's from lodge.

Set against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro and boasting views of the long stretch of the Savannah, Amboseli Serena lodge is the perfect getaway place for relaxation and fun.

The lodge has 92 guest rooms and suites all designed with a Maasai theme. Featuring wall paintings of animals and trees, ornate lamps, a flat screen TV, a center rug, a writing desk, a hairdryer, and an en suite bathroom.
