7 Days/ 6 Nights Kenya Safari is a one week Kenya safari that is perfect for those who would like to see the best of Kenya but on a budget.

 

Starting from Nairobi, this itinerary heads to the rugged landscape surrounding Mount Kenya, then to the open plains of Samburu, through the interior to Lake Nakuru National Park before ending in the Masai Mara, an area renowned for its big cats.


7 Days/ 6 Nights Kenya Road Safari Summary Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Drive to Serena Mountain Lodge Tree Hotel

1 Night at Serena Mountain Lodge in the foothills of Mount Kenya, overlooking a waterhole visited by elephants, buffalo and other forest animals.

 

Day 2 & 3: Tree Hotel – Drive to Samburu Game Reserve

2 Nights at Samburu Sopa Lodge with 3 game drives in the Samburu National Reserve giving the chance to see a wide variety of big game including some less common species not seen elsewhere.

 

Day 4: Samburu – Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park

1 Night at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge in Lake Nakuru National Park with a game drive along the lake shore to see the flamingos and where there is also an excellent chance of seeing rhino as well as a rare species of Giraffe and other wildlife.

 

Day 5 & 6: Lake Nakuru – Drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve

2 Nights at Keekorok Lodge with 3 game drives in the Masai Mara, famous for lions, cheetahs and leopards.

 

Day 7: Masai Mara – Drive to Nairobi

After breakfast we transfer back to Nairobi. Drop off at the international airport for your flight home. Alternatively, fly direct from the Masai Mara to the Kenya coast to relax on the beach for a few days before flying back to Nairobi.

7 Days/ 6 Nights Kenya Road Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Drive to Serena Mountain Lodge Tree Hotel

Morning pick up from your Nairobi hotel and depart by road to the beautiful and rugged scenery surrounding Mount Kenya, Africa’s second highest mountain.

 

Check in to your tree hotel called the Serena Mountain Lodge in Mount Kenya National Park - an important area of protected ancient forests and a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site with diverse plant and animal life.

 

Serena Mountain Lodge is a timbered tree hotel set on Mount Kenya’s lower slopes with wonderful views over a flood-lit water hole and salt-lick which attract many animals including elephant and buffalo. Afternoon at leisure to relax overlooking the waterhole. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Serena Mountain Lodge. Meal Plan: {Lunch & Dinner}.


Day 2: Tree Hotel – Drive to Samburu Game Reserve

After breakfast at the tree Hotel, we continue by road to Samburu National Reserve – a relatively remote and less-visited area away from the crowds and one that offers excellent game viewing. Check in to Samburu Sopa Lodge where we will spend 2 nights.

 

Lunch at the lodge. Afternoon Game drive in the Samburu Reserve. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge. Meal Plan {Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner}


Day 3: Samburu Game Reserve

Early breakfast at the lodge followed by morning and afternoon game drives exploring Samburu National Reserve on the look-out for elephants and big cats as well as the unusual animals for which Samburu is noted such as the endangered Grevy’s Zebra and the Reticulated Giraffe.

 

Lunch is at the lodge.

 

Dinner and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge.

Day 4: Samburu – Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast we set off towards the stunning scenery of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, arriving at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge for lunch. Later in the afternoon we head out to explore Lake Nakuru National Park which is famous for the spectacular pink flamingos that gather on its salt encrusted shores as well as for other bird species including African fish eagles and pelicans.

 

The woodland and grassland surrounding the soda lake are home to an abundance of wildlife including black rhino, white rhino, hippo, leopard, lion and the rare Rothschild giraffe.

 

After a sundowner at a scenic point we head back to Sarova Lion Hill Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru – Drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve

After an early breakfast we continue our safari by heading to the world-famous Maasai Mara, arriving for lunch at Keekorok Lodge where we will stay for 2 nights. At the lodge you can observe wildlife from the Elephant Deck or at the Hippo Bar which overlooks a waterhole.

 

Alternatively, enjoy the swimming pool or other optional activities (payable locally) such as the spa or nature walks. In the afternoon you will have a game drive in the Mara Reserve. Dinner and overnight at Keekorok Lodge.

Day 6: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Early breakfast at the lodge followed by a morning game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve returning to the lodge for lunch. In the late afternoon you will take another game drive in the Mara Reserve.

 

You can expect to see a wide variety of Kenya’s animals – great and small – such as elephants, buffalo, giraffe and plains game and we will go in search of the big cats for which the Mara is famous. Dinner and overnight at Keekorok Lodge.

Day 7: Masai Mara – Drive to Nairobi

After breakfast we transfer back to Nairobi. Drop off at the international airport for your flight home. Alternatively, fly direct from the Masai Mara to the Kenya coast to relax on the beach for a few days before flying back to Nairobi.
