Sweetwaters Olpajeta Day Trip Safari departs from Nairobi or from any hotels/ location within the Aberdare, Nyeri, Mweiga, Timau and Nanyuki. The drive is only a 3 hour from the capital city on good roads.

Sweetwaters/ Ol Pejeta Conservancy is located in the Laikipia plains about 17 km's from Nanyuki and 217 km's from Nairobi and is the closest place for you to come and see the big 5.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy is 90,000-acre and boasts an astounding variety of animals including the non-indigenous chimpanzees and the big 5 (the endangered black rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo and lion).

The combination of amazing wildlife and stunning views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta guarantees an unforgettable safari experience.

Ol Pejeta is home to three of the world’s last remaining three northern white rhinos, and a sanctuary for 115 critically endangered black rhinos.

Places to visit within Sweeetwaters on Your Day Tour include:

Morani Information Centre: The Morani Information Centre offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the different wildlife species that live on Ol Pejeta; from anatomy to behavior to habitat.

Black rhino Baraka: Visit the black Rhino Baraka who was born in the wild in Ol Pejeta, but lost sight in both eyes due to a fight and then a cataract. Baraka now lives in the enclosure, located next to the Morani Information Centre, for his own safety.

Equator Sign: The southern and northern hemispheres meet in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, and the Equator is marked in the eastern sector of the Conservancy, near Rongai Gate.

Hippo Hide: One of two permanent hides on Ol Pejeta. It is located discreetly on the banks of the mighty Ewaso Nyiro River, and offers fantastic views of the water – where hippos often spend the day keeping cool in the shallow water.

The Masai, Pokot, Turkana, Samburu men and women invite you into their homes and sell their traditional wares, show off their ritual dances and introduce you to their lifestyle.

Nairobi Railway Museum Day Tour is a 2 hour visit of the Railway Museum which exhibits 10 Old Steam Engines. Built Between 1923 and 1955 the museum presents the Historical Growth of Kenya Narrating the Tale of the Country’s Evolvement.

Indeed it is the Rail Road that Developed Kenya to the Country it is Today !

Nairobi Railway Museum day tour covers the Railway Station and the Railway Museum, modern city centre, the colorful city market, Parliament buildings, Kenyatta International Conference Centre; the landmark of Nairobi (KICC), The 7th Memorial Park Bomblast and the National Theatre.

The tour returns to your city hotel or residence.

During our Nairobi Railway Museum day tour, you will to learn about the interesting history of the railways. You will be informed about the painstaking effort and sheer man power that was required to lay down the tracks.

You will also learn about the challenges that were encountered during construction, one of which is the fascinating tale of how production was forced to be halted due to the 'man-eaters': lions that made killing hits on the camps of the workers.

The chilling account is retold of how two man-eating lions attacked and killed scores of railway workers until they were hunted down and killed by Colonel J.H. Patterson, who had been supervising the railway project.

The stuffed and mounted carcasses of the two lions are now on display at the Field Museum in Chicago. More accounts of how lions disturbed production reveal that two other Englishmen were killed by lions near the railways.

The railways undoubtedly played a central part in shaping Kenyan history, including helping to establish present day Nairobi.

The trials and tribulations of the line, together with the political details about how the railway affected the lives of people from Africa, England and Asia is a fascinating history. You will be enthralled by visiting the Railway Museum in Nairobi.

You arrive at Mboi farm at about 1100 Hours and are welcomed with a cup of tea/ coffee and some snacks. The farm owner will welcome you followed by a brief orientation of the farm. After you will begin your tour with a visit to the cowsheds.

Here you can try out your hand in milking and feeding fodder to the cows. After milking, we enter the coffee farm. Guests will see where some of the world’s finest coffee comes from and how it is grown.

Later at the farmhouse, you can also participate in grading, roasting and grinding some of this coffee for use in the farm (Kahawa chungu). From the coffee farm, you proceed to the tea section through the farm.

Along the way we will see Muratina trees which were used to make the traditional kikuyu brew. You will see how the brew was made with honey or sugar cane sap and if you wish, you can enjoy a sip and feel the taste.

You also pass by the Kikuyu traditional hut which will take you back in time before the first European explorer had set foot in Africa. At the tea estate, we get straight to work by putting on the picking basket (Kigara).

You will be taught how tea is it picked by hand. Picking makes all the difference and it gives Kenyan tea its famed taste of quality. The average tea picker collects about 20 kilos in a day.

From the tea fields we head back to the house in time to find Susan making chapatis for lunch. If you wish, you can join her. Just wash your hands and flex your arms on the Chapatti rolling pin.

After the cooking lesson, we sit for lunch served outdoors or in the house. Lunch includes Kenyan dishes such as Kienyeji, Githeri spiced with international seasonings. By the time you are through, you will definitely know the true taste of Central Kenya.

Most of the food supplies are freshly picked from the farm. This caps an eventful well spent morning. After lunch, you can plant a tree at the farm and then you head off for a stroll into the village.

Time permitting, you can visit at least one or two of different places such as Zaina falls, the local school, the village center, the church, the cattle dip or the football grounds.

You can also accompany John as he delivers picked coffee to the factory and see how it is processed. After an eventful day you will travel back to Nairobi and dropped back at your residence.

Ngong Hills Walking Hiking Climbing Running Day Tour Ngong Hills Walking Hiking Climbing Running Day Tour

Ngong Hills Walking Hiking Climbing Running Day Tour: Enjoy wonderful views of the city of Nairobi and the Great Rift Valley while hiking the Ngong hills on our Nairobi day Tour.

The hike or climb starting point is at the Ngong Police Station and the ending point Kona Baridi. The walking duration takes about 4 to 5 hours. The terrain initially is a dirt road till the radio masts, then trails over the rolling hills for the rest of the way.

The hike is moderate difficulty and can get very windy. The Ngong hills’ proximity to Nairobi, about 22 km southwest of the city, makes it a very popular weekend destination for visitors from all over the country.

Some come for walks while others picnic or worship on the hills. Professional and amateur runners will also be found in the morning jogging up and down the steep slopes.

The whole mountain range is a gazetted forest reserve covering an area of over 21,000 square kilometers, with the highest peak on the knuckle-shaped Ngong hills at 2460 meters above sea level.

Ngong hills walking hiking climbing running day tour starts from Ngong town at the northern foot of the hills 1961 meters above sea level, and traverses the whole range to the southern end at Kona Baridi.

This takes about 4 to 5 hour to complete, depending on fitness levels. The first 2 km from Ngong Police Station are a gradual ascent through human settlements until you get to a Kenya Forest Service (KFS) barrier indicating the start of the Ngong Hills forest reserve.

From here on, you go past a wind farm, before climbing the first steep hill leading to an area populated with radio repeater station masts. The trail thins out and descents into a trough before you climb the next steep hill.

Just when you think the worst is over, the rolling hills seem to keep popping up, with each taking its toll on you. Thankfully, the views all round are magnificent, making the effort worthwhile.

On a lucky day, you are likely to encounter buffalos around the fourth hill, on account of the abundant bushes at these higher altitudes on the range. To your right is a fantastic view of the Great Rift Valley, while on the far left is a view of the city of Nairobi.

Mount Longonot Hiking Day Trip Safari is a one day tour to Mt Longonot National Park.  As you drive from Nairobi along the upper escarpment road to Naivasha, the breathtaking view of Mt Longonot beckons you to the left, barely 60 km out of Nairobi.

Mt Longonot is a dormant volcano estimated to have last erupted in the mid 1800s, and stands at an estimated 750 meters above the floor of the Great Rift Valley.

The mountain is 2776 meters above sea level and dominates the surrounding landscape, with lava canyons on its steep slopes, and a circular caldera over a kilometer in diameter.

A number of viewpoints on the highway have become popular stopovers for motorists drawn by the splendor of this magnificent view. The whole mountain is a National Park under the jurisdiction of Kenya Wildlife Services.

It is home to several wild animals including buffalos, antelopes and leopards, most of which live in the thick forest covering the crater floor. Spotting them is not guaranteed.

The hike on this mountain takes about 2 hours from the Park Gate to the rim of the crater and back, while for those going round the crater as well, the hike takes about 4 hours for the round trip.

The path up the slope is pretty steep and slippery at some points, so you need to be reasonably fit to do this hike. The views from the crater rim however make every painful step worth the effort.

The main attraction is the extinct volcano and crater forest, Scenic Landscape, Views of lake Naivasha and the Great Rift Valley. The park is a paradise for birds of prey.

Other activities at Mount Longonot include hiking, rock climbing, biking, walking and viewing Lake Naivasha.

Nairobi Safari Walk Day Tour is an educational guided walking tour to the Nairobi Safari Walk, located on Langata road next to the Kenya Wildlife Service Headquarters and the main entrance to the Nairobi National Park.

The Kenya Wildlife Service Headquarters is a big complex located 7 km's from Nairobi city. The walk gives visitors a clear picture of what to look forward while exploring any of the many Kenyan National Parks while on safari.

The Safari Walk is a showcase of Kenya's vast natural diversity and eco-systems namely the savannahs, forests and wetlands.

Guests can walk along the raised boardwalk, through the different habitats and observe from close range the wonderful variety of wildlife in each eco-system.

The first ecosystem you encounter when you enter the Nairobi Safari Walk is a Wetland covered in water lilies and fringed with papyrus. This is also home to grazing pigmy hippos and lazing crocodiles.

The next habitat in line is the Savannah environment which plays host to an albino Zebra in a herd of its regular species, antelopes, giraffe, hyena, the rare Bongo, a white rhino, leopards, cheetahs and lions.

Raised boardwalks meander through the different enclosures, with signboards along the way providing useful information on the species of plants and animals found there.

Strategically located viewpoints close to the enclosures offer a close-up look at the occupants going about their daily lives.

A nature trail through woodland, the last of the three habitats in the Nairobi Safari Walk, showcases some of Kenya’s indigenous plants, with signposts along the trail describing their traditional uses.

Benches at various locations along the trail provide resting places for anyone wishing to take a moment to enjoy the forest sights and sounds.

Meandering through 27 acres of wilderness, Nairobi Safari Walk offers a neatly encapsulated walking safari.

During our Nairobi safari walk day tour, you will enjoy activities such as guided walk, talks and lectures, tree identification and nursery techniques.

      Nairobi Safari Walk Information

The Nairobi Safari Walk offers a unique setting for visitors to see Kenya’s flora and fauna in habitats that simulate natural environments, albeit on a smaller scale than the large National Parks and Game Reserves.

Unobtrusive fences erected in deep trenches create an immersive experience for the visitor, making a trip to the Nairobi Safari Walk a pleasant adventure that could last one to two hours.

The first ecosystem you encounter when you enter the Nairobi Safari Walk is a Wetland covered in water lilies and fringed with papyrus. This is also home to grazing pigmy hippos and lazing crocodiles.
