Beginning at either 0600 Hours (morning session) or 1400 Hours (afternoon session), this guided game drive offers the rare opportunity to experience Kenya’s incredible wildlife within sight of Nairobi’s skyline.
Conducted in a 4×4 safari Land Cruiser or open-roof safari van, the safari begins with pickup from your hotel, followed by a short 20-minute drive (7 km from Downtown Nairobi) to the Nairobi National Park entrance. Nairobi National Park full or half-day tour is a 4-5 hour guided game drive through the Nairobi National Park. The park is located about 7 km (4.3 miles) from Nairobi’s central business district and is the only protected area in the world that is close to a capital city.
It was the first national park established in Kenya (1946) and has an area of 45 square miles (117 km²), lying about 5,000–6,000 feet (1,500–1,800 meters) above sea level. The park has over 80 species of mammals and more bird species than can be found in the whole of the British Isles.
Nairobi National Park has a diverse range of habitats, including savannah grasslands, open woodland, scrub, bush thickets, and dry and wetland forests. Other features include rocky gorges, wetlands, rivers, and streams. The Park has a prominently diverse indigenous flora comprising plants of more than 100 species.
Nairobi National Park’s vast open grass plains and backdrop of the city skyscrapers, and scattered acacia bush play host to a wide variety of wildlife, including four of the big five mammals (Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, and Rhino – more than 60 black rhinos).
