Menengai Crater Nakuru 1 Day Hiking Tour Menengai Crater Nakuru 1 Day Hiking Tour

Menengai Crater Nakuru 1 Day Hiking Tour is a full day trip to climb Menengai crater.  It is considered a moderate climb. Menengai crater is located 10 km (6 miles) north of Nakuru, the fourth-biggest city in Kenya.

The drive from Nairobi to Nakuru takes about 3 Hours (about 180 km from Nairobi). It takes another 10 minutes to drive from town to the foot of the crater where the Menengai Forest station offices are located.

Menengai crater is an extinct volcano and one of the world’s largest intact craters and it is 12 kilometers across and nearly 500 meter deep in places. The crater floor covers nearly 90 square kilometers.

While standing at the rim of the huge crater, one is able to have the view of the large stretch of the Northern Rift Valley in a panoramic view, having a glance at some of the mountains like the Tugen Hills, Mau, Abrade, Mathews Range, the Cherenganyi and the Elgeyo-Marakwet escarpment.

More striking is the fact that at the crater, one is able to have the beautiful view of Lake Bogoria, Lake Nakuru and the beauty of the crater itself.

The hike takes approximate 4 to 5 hours walk from the base of the crater to the rim and back.

Menengai Crater Nakuru 1 Day Hiking Tour hike begins downhill to the floor of the crater, a flat stretch, and then a rocky, grassy uphill to the summit.

It is a pleasant trip with breathtaking views into the crater as well as surrounding parts of the Rift Valley.

Various bird species as well as hyenas, baboons and dik dik can be spotted at the crater. The descent down the crater looks pretty easy.

However, it is the long trek upwards that is torturous. You need to be an expert hiker to conquer it!

With its amazing scenery, Menengai crater is indeed one of the most attractive places in the Rift Valley. The hiking, trekking, camping and picnicking options available to the visitor offer the promise of a rewarding trip.

There are also caves that can be explored, but they tend to be frequented by those on religious pilgrimages. Our Menegai Crater tour ends in Nairobi at 1900 Hours.

Indeed it is the Rail Road that Developed Kenya to the Country it is Today !

Nairobi Railway Museum day tour covers the Railway Station and the Railway Museum, modern city centre, the colorful city market, Parliament buildings, Kenyatta International Conference Centre; the landmark of Nairobi (KICC), The 7th Memorial Park Bomblast and the National Theatre.

The tour returns to your city hotel or residence.

During our Nairobi Railway Museum day tour, you will to learn about the interesting history of the railways. You will be informed about the painstaking effort and sheer man power that was required to lay down the tracks.

You will also learn about the challenges that were encountered during construction, one of which is the fascinating tale of how production was forced to be halted due to the 'man-eaters': lions that made killing hits on the camps of the workers.

The chilling account is retold of how two man-eating lions attacked and killed scores of railway workers until they were hunted down and killed by Colonel J.H. Patterson, who had been supervising the railway project.

The stuffed and mounted carcasses of the two lions are now on display at the Field Museum in Chicago. More accounts of how lions disturbed production reveal that two other Englishmen were killed by lions near the railways.

The railways undoubtedly played a central part in shaping Kenyan history, including helping to establish present day Nairobi.

The trials and tribulations of the line, together with the political details about how the railway affected the lives of people from Africa, England and Asia is a fascinating history. You will be enthralled by visiting the Railway Museum in Nairobi.

Coffee Tea Farm 1 Day Tour Nyeri is a full day tour from Nairobi that departs daily at 0700 Hours. The tour begins with a pick-up from your residence in the city and a transfer by road to Nyeri.

You arrive at Mboi farm at about 1100 Hours and are welcomed with a cup of tea/ coffee and some snacks. The farm owner will welcome you followed by a brief orientation of the farm. After you will begin your tour with a visit to the cowsheds.

Here you can try out your hand in milking and feeding fodder to the cows. After milking, we enter the coffee farm. Guests will see where some of the world’s finest coffee comes from and how it is grown.

Later at the farmhouse, you can also participate in grading, roasting and grinding some of this coffee for use in the farm (Kahawa chungu). From the coffee farm, you proceed to the tea section through the farm.

Along the way we will see Muratina trees which were used to make the traditional kikuyu brew. You will see how the brew was made with honey or sugar cane sap and if you wish, you can enjoy a sip and feel the taste.

You also pass by the Kikuyu traditional hut which will take you back in time before the first European explorer had set foot in Africa. At the tea estate, we get straight to work by putting on the picking basket (Kigara).

You will be taught how tea is it picked by hand. Picking makes all the difference and it gives Kenyan tea its famed taste of quality. The average tea picker collects about 20 kilos in a day.

From the tea fields we head back to the house in time to find Susan making chapatis for lunch. If you wish, you can join her. Just wash your hands and flex your arms on the Chapatti rolling pin.

After the cooking lesson, we sit for lunch served outdoors or in the house. Lunch includes Kenyan dishes such as Kienyeji, Githeri spiced with international seasonings. By the time you are through, you will definitely know the true taste of Central Kenya.

Most of the food supplies are freshly picked from the farm. This caps an eventful well spent morning. After lunch, you can plant a tree at the farm and then you head off for a stroll into the village.

Time permitting, you can visit at least one or two of different places such as Zaina falls, the local school, the village center, the church, the cattle dip or the football grounds.

You can also accompany John as he delivers picked coffee to the factory and see how it is processed. After an eventful day you will travel back to Nairobi and dropped back at your residence.

Ngong Hills Walking Hiking Climbing Running Day Tour Ngong Hills Walking Hiking Climbing Running Day Tour

Ngong Hills Walking Hiking Climbing Running Day Tour: Enjoy wonderful views of the city of Nairobi and the Great Rift Valley while hiking the Ngong hills on our Nairobi day Tour.

The hike or climb starting point is at the Ngong Police Station and the ending point Kona Baridi. The walking duration takes about 4 to 5 hours. The terrain initially is a dirt road till the radio masts, then trails over the rolling hills for the rest of the way.

The hike is moderate difficulty and can get very windy. The Ngong hills’ proximity to Nairobi, about 22 km southwest of the city, makes it a very popular weekend destination for visitors from all over the country.

Some come for walks while others picnic or worship on the hills. Professional and amateur runners will also be found in the morning jogging up and down the steep slopes.

The whole mountain range is a gazetted forest reserve covering an area of over 21,000 square kilometers, with the highest peak on the knuckle-shaped Ngong hills at 2460 meters above sea level.

Ngong hills walking hiking climbing running day tour starts from Ngong town at the northern foot of the hills 1961 meters above sea level, and traverses the whole range to the southern end at Kona Baridi.

This takes about 4 to 5 hour to complete, depending on fitness levels. The first 2 km from Ngong Police Station are a gradual ascent through human settlements until you get to a Kenya Forest Service (KFS) barrier indicating the start of the Ngong Hills forest reserve.

From here on, you go past a wind farm, before climbing the first steep hill leading to an area populated with radio repeater station masts. The trail thins out and descents into a trough before you climb the next steep hill.

Just when you think the worst is over, the rolling hills seem to keep popping up, with each taking its toll on you. Thankfully, the views all round are magnificent, making the effort worthwhile.

On a lucky day, you are likely to encounter buffalos around the fourth hill, on account of the abundant bushes at these higher altitudes on the range. To your right is a fantastic view of the Great Rift Valley, while on the far left is a view of the city of Nairobi.
