Day 1: Nairobi – Fly to Maasai Mara Game Reserve
On arrival at Kenya's Jomo Kenyatta Airport you will be met by a Sanctuary representative who will transfer you to Wilson Airport for your connection to the Masai Mara.

Your Sanctuary Olonana guide will meet you at the airstrip and drive you to the camp with some great game viewing en route. On arrival relax and freshen up in your tent before lunch is served.

The tents are very spacious and have floor to ceiling mosquito netting, en-suite bathrooms with hot showers, flush lavatories, solar lighting and large, river view verandahs.

The main dining room and veranda commands a dramatic stretch of the Mara River providing the perfect setting for afternoon tea and after dinner star gazing.

As your afternoon game drive comes to an end, drive to a specially chosen vantage point overlooking the Mara plains. Enjoy drinks as you take in the beauty of the rapid sunset coloring the acacia dotted plains before returing to the camp for a delicious dinner.

Day 2: Maasai Mara Game Reserve
This morning after breakfast at the camp venture out led by our expert guides to explore the Mara. The Mara is a fabulous place for seeing big cats and all of the big five, a variety of plains game and over 300 bird species.

The plains offer a rich variety of food for the dominant predators: lion; leopard; hyena and cheetah. Elephants browse amongst the large herds of wildebeest and topi, eland and buffalo, Thomson's and Grant's gazelle.

In the Mara River, hippos submerge to snort and grumble while crocodiles sunbathe, mouths agape, on the riverbanks. From around July to October, there's the greatest show on Earth – the wildebeest migration. Mid-afternoon high tea will be served before your next activity.

During your stay there are a variety of activities that can be booked on request such as a balloon safari.

Day 3: Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Today you might like walk with our naturalist and learn about plants, trees, insects and even how to approach animals on foot, as your guide shows you how to spot animal signs which are everywhere but not that easily noticed.

Or choose from one of the options above. On your last evening drive out into the bush where a private and secluded clearing has been prepared for an elegant dinner in the middle of the wilderness.

The table setting is as sophisticated and elegant as found in the finest restaurants. Candles flicker in the darkness, throwing golden lights on the table cloth as smiling waiters serve a delicious dinner.

After dinner retire to the warmth of the campfire where brandies and liqueurs are served as guests relax and absorb the peace and beauty of an African night.

Day 4: Masai Mara – Fly to Nairobi. Enpane fly to Entebbe, Uganda
After breakfast your guide will transfer you to the airstrip for your flight to Nairobi's Wilson Airport. On arrival you will be met by a Sanctuary Retreats representative who will drive you the short distance to Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where you will be able to enjoy lunch.

Depart late afternoon for your flight to Entebbe, Uganda. On arrival in Entebbe you will be met by a Sanctuary Representative who will transfer you to your Entebbe/Kampala hotel.

Day 5: Entebbe – Fly to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
This morning after breakfast you will be picked up and transferred to Entebbe airport for your scheduled flight to Kihihi airstrip where a Sanctuary representative will meet and transfer you to the camp.

The transfer time is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Gorilla Forest Camp is located within Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is the perfect base for a tracking experience as it offers luxury in the heart of the rainforest. Lunch is served at camp.

In the afternoon you can just relax and take in the fresh air or take a forest walk, which is a nice way to warm up before the Gorilla tracking. Birders come thousands of miles to see the more than 350 species that live within the area.

There are also rare forest elephant, giant forest hog and eleven kinds of primates, such as red tailed and blue monkey, black and white colobus, baboons and chimpanzee.

Day 6: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Early breakfast this morning before a briefing from your guide. Tracking commences every morning from the park headquarters at 8.30 am. The gorillas we track belong to one of the 'habituated' family groups in Northern Bwindi.

For several years each group has undergone an extremely delicate process that has gradually made them used to the presence of humans. Experienced guides will accompany the tracking, many of who have been involved in the habituation process themselves.

Once the gorillas are located, the group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Return to camp for dinner.

Day 7: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Today relax at camp or visit a local village and meet the villagers to learn about their day to day lives. On this walk you can visit a honey production site, a traditional medicine man, a traditional blacksmith, a local school when in term and even attend a Batwa dance performance.

The walk is organised with the local community as part of our community support. Or you could take a bird walk. Bwindi boast over 300 bird species, including 24 that are endemic to these highlands straddling Uganda, Rwanda and the Congo – the "Albertine Rift Endemics".

There are also over 200 species of butterflies found in the park. A local expert will guide you on this fascinating walk. Lunch and dinner at the lodge.

After dinner simply relax and sip a drink as you listen to folk tunes played on the traditional Bakiga guitar.

Four flights expedite travel between locations and make the most of our time in each reserve. We start in Nairobi at the Nairobi Serena Hotel with a Safari Briefing by our field team and meeting with a Masai Elder.

A city tour shows Nairobi to be a historic and fascinating city, visiting the home of author Karen Blixen who penned Out of Africa.

Luncheon at the homestead of Kenya’s oldest tea plantation hosted by the original settler’s granddaughter is another highlight.

Giraffe Centre is next, including a private briefing by the resident warden about the mission to save the endangered Rothschild giraffe; the chance to hand feed them is a bonus!

Our adventures in the bush begin with Amboseli National Park. Romantically situated in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli is famous for its tremendous variety of big game.

Having arrived at Amboseli fresh and relaxed after a flight over the scenic Athi Plains, we are ready for a morning game run.

Our delightful lodge is perfectly located in the very centre of the reserve. We awaken to the sights and sounds of big game country and, if we’re lucky, to a view of Kilimanjaro often unclouded in the early morning sky.

In addition to elephant, antelope, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo and the rare black rhino, Amboseli is sought after by travelers in the know for its breathtaking scenery and easily approachable wildlife.

Just after daybreak, we venture into the crisp morning air in search of the great herds. Our game drives are sure to reveal great wonders.

Awaiting us at our next stop is a sheltered oasis, clustered around a waterhole and set in the pristine calm of its own private reserve: Sweetwaters Tented Camp.

Abounding with wildlife, unfettered by the more rigorous strictures of national parks, Sweetwaters offers a charming blend of under-canvas ambience and casual luxury where we’ll enjoy two nights.

One of only four private game reserves in Kenya, it excels in the provision of privileged seclusion and private game viewing.

The reserve is also home to a 24,000 acre rhino sanctuary and an extensive chimpanzee project under the direction of Jane Goodall, whose goal is to rehabilitate and home orphaned and abused chimps— a visit is a highlight.

The Mount Kenya Safari Club, our next sojourn, might well be one of the most gracious establishments in Kenya, with a colorful past besides!

The grand main building gleams white against the green sweep of surrounding lawns, while the idyllic swimming pool reflects the forested evergreen foothills rising up to the clouds and peaks of Mount Kenya in the distance.

This morning we fly to Nairobi, and then drive through lush tea and coffee estates to Sweetwaters Tented Camp.

Both Sweetwaters land and the Ol Pejeta Conservancy was once the private domain of famed multi-millionaire Adnan Kashoggi.

We visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide refuge to orphaned chimps as well as forty black rhinos.

Sweetwaters boasts the highest game-to-area ratio of any park or reserve in Kenya, and with its own waterhole and saltlick we’ll be guaranteed close encounters.

Meru National Park was where George and Joy Adamson released their most famous lioness, Elsa, back into the wild. 

The park features unspoiled 870km² stretch of well-watered, dense bush, acacia woodland and verdant, tall grasslands spiked with weird-looking doum palms is ripe for discovery.

Samburu National Reserve is situated on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in the dry northern reaches of Kenya.

There are plenty of wildlife including Giraffes, buffalos, waterbucks and zebras from the surrounding savannah plains trek to the water.

Masai Mara National Reserve is famous for the wildebeest migration as the animals cross the Mara River between July and August.

The reserve is also home to the richest concentration of wildlife, including the "Big Five" (elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo), zebras, antelope, gnus, Oribis, hyenas, giraffes, warthogs, gazelles, hartebeests, hippos, crocodiles and others.

Day 3: Nairobi – Fly to Meru National Park
After an early breakfast at your hotel, you’ll be transferred to Wilson airport for your scheduled flight to Meru National Park.

You will enjoy the beautiful countryside scenery and excellent views of snow-capped Mount Kenya in a distance.

On arrival to the Meru National Park and proceed for a game-drive en-route to the lodge/ camp.

In the afternoon proceed for an afternoon game drive. Meru National Park is home to a large pride of lions, herds of buffalo, and hippos and crocodiles that live in the rivers.

The park is noted for its fauna and natural beauty.

Meru has many swamps and rivers lined with palms, as well as mountains and woodlands, and it is the setting for Joy Adamson's book "Born Free", which was later made into a successful film.

Day 4: Explore Meru National Park
After a hearty breakfast we explore Meru National Park which is host to an extraordinary array of wildlife.

We take you out in four-wheel drive vehicles together with professional guides to explore the bush at your pace, and to enjoy a vivid, personal connection with some of the magnificent creatures that call this area home.

Meru National Park is also home to species as reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, and Oryx which are not to be found in many other National Parks or areas in Kenya.

Aside from the regular morning and afternoon game drives we have a range of other activities available on and off camp, including bird watching, bush walks, mountain biking and visiting the villages of the peaceful and friendly Meru people.

In the morning after breakfast, you'll be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Samburu National Reserve.

Day 6: Discover Samburu National Reserve
Spend the entire day exploring the Samburu National Reserve. Animals commonly seen include elephants, lions, cheetahs, reticulated giraffes, gerenuks, buffaloes, gazelles, dikdik and water bucks.

With a magnificent background of jagged, purple mountains, a safari in these small gems in the wildlife wilderness will provide some of the best and most colorful game viewing in the country.

Other activities in Samburu include Camel trekking, visit a traditional Samburu manyatta (village), go market shopping, lie back for stargazing, and hone your photography skills on safari walks.

Arrive at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in the evening, where you will be met by the warm, smiling face of your private guide, Paul.

Paul will transfer you to Ngong House, where you may have a light snack before settling in for the night. During your first night in Africa, you will probably awaken to the peculiar, electrifying call of a territorial male tree hyrax!

In fact, these furry brown creatures that look like giant guinea pigs are the closest living relatives to the elephant! Enjoy your first night in Africa!

Days 2, 3 & 4: Tsavo National Park, Chyulu Hills
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport where you will board a flight to the Chyulu Hills.

As you fly into the area to your right you will get your first glimpse of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's largest free standing mountain which sits amidst the vast plains of south eastern Kenya.

You arrive at the camp and are warmly welcomed by your hosts Luca and Antonella and then taken to your cottage.

The thatched roof guest cottages have a wide veranda to provide superb views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Tsavo Hills. Activities include nature walks and game drives in open-top, four-wheel-drive vehicles.

Day 3: Explore Ol Pejeta Conservancy
You will have the entire day exploring the Ol Pejeta Conservancy till sunset.

The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 24,000 acre private Sweetwaters Game Reserve and home to a variety of wild game, bird-life, and exotic flora.

This game sanctuary has the highest ratio of game-to-area among any other parks in Kenya. It has a waterhole that is floodlit by night thereby providing an exotic game viewing experience.

Activities that can be done include game walks, horseback and camel ride game drives.

Another highlight of this place is the Chimpanzee Sanctuary found within the reserve and is also a charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and refuge to over 40 species of black rhinos.

3 Days 2 Nights Nyungwe National Park Rwanda Safari is a short holiday to Nyungwe Forest National Park – the largest Montane forest in Central Africa with 13 species of primate. These include Chimpanzee and large groups of Rwenzori Colobus.

The Park has over 300 species of bird, orchids and butterflies. Nyungwe's bio diversity is astonishing by African standards and is one of the most endemic species-rich areas in whole of Africa.

Our 3 Days Nyungwe National Park Safari begins and ends in Kigali Rwanda’s capital and largest city. Nyungwe rainforest is placed in the Southwestern part of Rwanda at the border with Burundi in the south, Lake Kivu and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west.

The safari will take you to the park with the most diversity of animal species making it a priority to wild conservation in Africa.

The park is a home to over 13 different primate species (25% of Africa's total) such as chimpanzee, Owl-faced Monkey, L’Hoest’s Mountain Monkey, Angolan Colobus Monkeys and many more, so primate lovers are rewarded a lot.

Not only that but even bird lovers are given a chance to view over 278 species of birds to mention some include the rare sun birds, Rwenzori Turacco, black and white casqued Hornbill, Kungwe apalis etc.

3 Days 2 Nights Nyungwe National Park Rwanda Safari Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali Transfer – Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park
On arrival at the airport, you will be picked up by our professional Safari Driver Guide and depart by road to the south western part of Rwanda up to Nyungwe National Park.

The journey will take you about 4-5 hours. In case you arrive early in Kigali, you can visit the genocide memorial centre and museum at Gisozi, cultural sites, marketing places, and the king’s palace among others.

You will have a one hour lunch break in Butare town which is the 2nd largest town in Rwanda and also considered the cultural capital.

After lunch proceed to Nyungwe National Park for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Nyungwe Forest National Park – Chimpanzee Tracking
Early in the morning after a cup of tea or coffee, you will leave at 0700 Hours to the forest to search for the 13 species of primates that live in the forest like chimpanzee our closest relatives.

Nyungwe forest is quite challenging but the park guides at Nyungwe are experienced and very well-informed about most of Nyungwe's wildlife. It’s recommended to carry with you packed lunch and bottled water because you may take long in the forest.

The guide will provide you with relevant information not only about the chimps but also to other species that live in the forest. Other primates that can be seen include the Angola Colobus, Olive Baboon, Grey-cheeked mangabey, L'Hoest's monkeys, golden monkey, Red-tailed Monkey, among others.

Bird lovers may also have a chance to watch various species of bird, such as the orange and white birds, great blue Turaco, forest Hornbills, the Rwenzori Turaco, paradise flycatcher, Amazing and rare sun birds, to mention but a few.

Return back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Nyungwe Forest Return – Drive to Kigali

Enjoy lunch en route after proceed to the airport in order to meet your departure flight and say farewell to Rwanda.

Day 1: Nairobi Arrival
On arrival into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport an African Spice Safaris representative will meet you and transfer you to the House of Waine.

Accommodation is booked for 1 night on a bed & breakfast basis. The House of Waine is an 11-bedroomed boutique hotel in the forested suburbs of Nairobi.

The hotel is only 45 minutes from the international airport and 25 minutes from Wilson Airport. Each bedroom is individually styled with en-suite bathroom.

All rooms have satellite TV, mini bar, room safe, coffee & tea making facilities. Within the surrounding gardens there is a heated swimming pool and poolside bar.

It is closely located to the Giraffe Centre, Nairobi National Park and the Elephant Orphanage.

Day 2, 3 & 4 : Nairobi – Fly to Meru National Park
You will be picked at 0715 Hours from House of Waine and transferred to Wilson Airport to catch the Air Kenya scheduled flight to Meru which departs at 0915 Hours.

On arrival into Meru you will be met at the airstrip and transferred to Elsa’s Kopje. Accommodation is booked for 3 Nights on a full board basis.

Elsa’s Kopje is named after Elsa the lioness, made famous by George and Joy Adamson’s biographical book and film “Born Free”. Elsa’s Kopje remains one of the most elegant lodges in Africa, with one of the most spectacular settings.

Invisible as you approach its home on Mughwango Hill, Elsa’s Kopje blends into the rocky crags of the “kopje” (small hill), built above the site of George Adamson’s original campsite.

Day 5, 6 & 7: Meru – Fly by Private Charter to Shaba/ Samburu
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for your private charter flight to Shaba. You will be met at Chaffa Airstrip and transferred to Joy’s Camp.

Accommodation is booked for 3 nights on a full board basis. Joy’s Camp is situated in Shaba National Reserve, on the site of Joy Adamson’s original campsite.

Its ten spacious luxury tents are set overlooking a large, natural spring that attracts endless game to the area around camp.

Each tent is decorated with sumptuous details and vibrant tribal cloths, creating a unique and attractively chic style, as well as private verandas – ideal for game viewing, relaxing, reading and soaking up the wilderness that is Shaba.

Day 8, 9 & 10: Shaba/ Samburu – Fly to Masai Mara Game Reserve
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for the Safarilink scheduled flight to the Masai Mara departing at 0910 Hours.

You will be met at Mara North Airstrip and transferred to Elephant Pepper Camp. Accommodation is booked for 3 nights on a full board basis.

Elephant Pepper Camp is a small and exclusive safari camp, situated in the heart of the Masai Mara’s protected Mara North Conservancy. The camp looks out across the Mara’s vast open savannah plains.
