Beach House Shela Village Lamu Island is a private house situated in Shela Village in Lamu, about 3 kilometer south of Lamu Town.

Shela Village lies at the end of an untouched 12 kilometer beach on Lamu Island. There are 4 double rooms and 1 dormitory style quadruple, all en-suite and can accommodate 12- 14 guests.

On the first floor, raised above beach level, edgeless fresh water swimming pool. It has a bar area and low comfortable baraza seats.

On the first flight of stairs is a large dining and living room, leading out onto an alfresco terrace, shaded by huge entwined acacia and baobab trees.

Another door leads onto the wooden deck over the pool and to 2 double bedrooms with their own private terraces. The third floor comprises 2 bedrooms and an open terrace with space for sunbathing.

There is a roof top terrace has features a bar, lounge and 2 swinging beds where guests can enjoy panoramic views of the whole Lamu channel, watch the fishing dhows return, dolphins pass and the moon rise.

The house is well shaded with plants and built on three floors around an open courtyard, the house well and an ancient gardenia.

There are 5 en-suite bedrooms; 3 double bedrooms, 2 twin bedrooms and a single bedroom.

The guestroom can comfortably accommodate 9 guests but 2 more guests can be accommodate. Adjoining the major suite there is a nursery room with a cot and two beds.

Kaskazi is furnished in colonial Arab Swahili style; with tropical hardwood furniture and attractive fabrics, fittings and fixtures sourced from Lamu, Kenya, Morocco and the Far East.

The house consists of 4 towers, around an elevated, 16 meter infinity pool. The two front towers house 4 spacious bedrooms, while the back two towers house the communal areas.

The towers are linked with shaded makuti thatch terraces, providing privacy for the swimming pool whilst still allowing a breeze to blow through and sway the hanging beds.

There are 4 double bedrooms and 1 triple room all en-suite and accommodate 12 guests.

The master suite with an outdoor shower and al fresco bathtub is accessed by a private staircase which winds upwards from the ground floor baraza area.

Two of the other double bedrooms are on the first floor of the front towers, each with a private veranda.

The ground floor double bedroom has a four poster Lamu bed, private veranda and French shutters leading onto the gardens.

The triple room is on the ground floor and has three traditional Lamu beds and a private veranda.

Guest enjoy their meals in the upper dining terrace, a rooftop dining space and lounge, by the poolside, dine under the stars, downstairs at the communal teak table.

The verandas feature writing desks, occasional tables, chairs and a traditional Lamu day bed. There is a covered baraza area behind the pool that can also be used for sleeping.

It also leads through an ancient carved door onto a wooden deck with two swinging beds overlooking the garden.
